If you put aside the DNC and Email scandal, Hillary was one of the most boring and terrible candidates that the Democrats ever had. Bland with charisma, lazy rehash of Obama-era policies, pandering to blacks, focused entirely on political correctness and identity politics. I'm appalled that Bob will never acknowledge that Hillary would never give him the free shit he wants.

It's important not to fall into the strict black and white nonsense Bob expounds and believes. New York City voted so heavily for Hillary that it actually represents most if not all of the popular vote victory so many of them won't shut up about (demonstrating that the EC actually served its intended function in preventing a regional presidency) ... except for Staten Island, which Trump won comfortably. Texas has the blue island of Austin as its capital. California has farmers in the north who know exactly how horrible the illegal immigration situation is (as Victor Davis Hanson once said, you don't understand the border problem until you've found dead illegals on your property), and while I don't think Trump would have carried the state, he certainly would have gotten more of its vote if its insane primary rules hadn't led to two Democrats running for its Senate seats.

Nothing is as simple as Bob pretends it to be; we shouldn't make the same error.

The impression I get is that the left in Vancouver are so disconnected from the reality that resource extraction makes up a significant part of Canada's economy. They do not realize that the country's inability to get bitumen to tide water is hurting the country as a whole by depriving it of potential revenues that pay for the government programs they champion.

The frustrating part that they and Bob are so hardwired in their ignorance is that there is no point in directly engaging with them. As Nietzsche once observed, "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster." Unfortunately, turning people into monsters like him is Bob's specialty because he can beat them down with experience.

I only mean in regards to the whole red/blue divide (which, as you cogently point out, is more rural-suburban/urban than anything else). When it comes to Bob himself and his fellow Twitter brigadiers, yeah, they're scumbags. I often wonder if Bob would be so obnoxious if he were forced to deal with people he disagrees with in the real world. At this point I believe that Bob would be equally abrasive and obnoxious in real life as he is online. Given his odd municipal pride in being "Boston Strong," it would not surprise me if he deluded himself into believing that he could win a physical altercation with an opponent. A woefully mistaken belief as he has likely not been in a fight since his school years and he is terribly out of shape.

Call me , but I would pay good money to see Bob provoke someone with martial arts experience into a fight.
