It does speak to Bob's egocentrism. He has embraced "The Death of the Author" to the point where he believes that he--as a consumer and cultural critic--has a more authoritative interpretation on who and what Mario is. Never mind the fact that it is Shigeru Miyamoto and the staff at Nintendo that create the games in the first place. Leave it to Bob to believe that he knows better than the freaking godfather Nintendo as we know it.
I don't know if there's a term for it but many critics, even Academic types, misunderstand "Death of the Author". It's suppose to be about examining the work itself seperate from the creator.....yet somewhere down the line it got twisted into "So now I'M the author!". This is why you have so many hacks running around insisting their political ideas are absolute truths in fiction.

This kind of criticism towards the trend usually gets handwaved as "anti-intellectual" for dismissing a form of examining works but maybe you're just an idiot when everyone laughs at your 20 page essay on why Pokemon is INHERETLY about the glory of communist dictatorships. Maybe you're strangling creativity and discussion when you boil everything down to overly simplified "metaphors" for WW2 or the Civil Rights era and refusing anything else.

Nah, Bob only has fans because he got started when there was less competition. They would have to have started as pseudo intellectual pre-teens to be pseudo-intellectual teenagers now. I'm guessing that they're stunted manchildren like Bob himself (horrifying, I know).

I imagine unironic fans of Bob's gaming content are mid 30s Nintendo fans who think gaming died with the Playstation and Call of Duty and are either ignorant of modern gaming or still hold a grudge against Sony and Microsoft.

His film and political fans are people who are SJWs. ie. straight ticket dem voters who only care about representation and inclusion.

Why do films have to have gay sex scenes? You have the internet for that. Besides, no one is going to take your gay porno films away, and it wouldn't really be a loss even if they did.

Or does that argument only apply when it's against Dead or Alive?

I was searching on YouTube today and this appeared in my suggestions; and I decided watch it....

:story:

Wow...Bob is reaching here, levels of lack of self-awareness and unwanted self-importance that shouldn't even be possible, even for Bob standards.

For be fair some of his past videos I would dare to call them mild-entertaining or being informative in a superficial way but this is the same guy who had called for the death of the white middle class, trump supporters and generaly being an ass in social media.

I notice he avoids saying "GamerGate" as if saying it will cause an angry mob to appear at his door.

it's all about "The straights can have sexytimes in movies and TV so why can't we?"

Big words + talking fast = smart, dontcha know
“Actinidia arguta farmers”

You just know he gave himself a high 5 over that thinking he’s so clever and “smaht”.

He’s really living up to that high school picture of himself as the nerdy, fat socially awkward kid who thinks they know everything but in reality knows nothing.

We all know he searched the kiwi fruit up on Wikipedia, just like he does with everything else.

I find this style of criticism and writing style of the "Death of The Author" to be nothing but shamefully appropriating the literary or other media piece in question to make it suit your own needs. It figures that the folks who winge on about "Cultural Appropriation" would apply it to everything since that is what they do and when they accuse others of it, it is because they are projecting their own flaws onto others.

I think that problem is mostly the result of people forcing their own takes on to other people. Seperating the creator's views from their work is something I approve of. Ideally the order that things should matter is the work itself, the opinion of those who worked on it, and whatever reader speculation at the bottom.

You'd be surprised how often writers themselves contradict their own story and say things they never wrote down.

It could also help to study works from the mind of the person as I find that writing no matter what it is, has the hallmarks of someones deepest emotions where their greatest joys and deepest despairs lie. Hell this can even be applied to Brick By Brick where it is an autobiography of a sad man who couldn't let his hurt and anger go and the results of it.

Preparing to shill hard for Captain Marvel the same style he gave Black Panther.

Speaking of Black Panther.

Short summary: “It must win because it’s about black people!”
God damn, I’m looking forward to Sunday night to see him sperg hard.

I see Brie Larson doing her damndest to turn herself into box office poison goes unmentioned.

Not to MCU sperg but unlike Black Panther, which at least had a charismatic actor who looked comfortable and convincing, Larson looks boring and miscasted as hell, and it doesn’t help that she virtue signaling hard against white male critics.

That’s not going to stop Bob from sprinting to theaters once it opens, despite his nonstop sperging about James Gunn being fires.
