People tend to forget the second law of thermodynamics often also applies to money. Moving it around in a big circular will only waste most of it. But then again, it isn't just profit that would incentivize people to do something like this: it's also optics and PR. Even if you're not getting that much money out of it, the fact that you like like you're successful and financially comfortable is also pretty valuable.

It's the same reason why most of Facebook's video views are totally fake, why most Twitter users are bots, yet the companies never do anything about it. When their numbers look big, it's good for their public image.

There’s still the huge problem that those states import a lot of their food and water. And they rely heavily on offering services to those red states for their economy. California isn’t sustainable as is without the rest of the US. This is just in regards to the pandemic and lockdown decisions, so Bob stroking his dick to mayo ghouls dying is premature. And while there’s nothing the Feds can do to stop it, it will lead to interesting constitutional rulings down the line since technically the states can’t make these kind of interstate decisions.
Not that I expect Bob to have a nuanced take.
