If we look at the Pacific Island campaign and its battles and the losses the US Armed Forces had, a major ground campaign on the Japanese main islands would have resulted in millions of dead and wounded US soldiers and it also would have caused several millions of dead Japanese.
During WW2 they stockpiled 1.5 Million Purple Hearts, these stocks have been awarded in every conflict since WW2 and are running out now. That should tell you something about what kind of fighting they were expecting.
Also worth mentioning is that the Firebombing of Japanese cities in the final phase of the war resulted in more deaths than both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The firebombing of Tokyo on March 10th, 1945 alone caused an estimate of 100.000 deaths. The air raids on Japan are estimated to have caused between up to 900.000 deaths (including the numbers of Hiroshima and Nagasaki). Source: United States Strategic Bombing Survey, Morale Division (1947): 900.000 dead and 1.3 million Japanese wounded.
Like it or not from an US point of view the drop of the nukes was the lesser of two evils.
But tbh, the Japanese didn't capitulate because of the nuclear bombings itself, they capitulated because the had to admit that this was a weapon they had no defense against and therefore the war was lost.
A good movie about the last days of the war, almost a biopic, is the Emperor in August, I highly recommend it.
A lot of people do not realize that even with the atomic bombings, a failed military coup was attempted by hardliners to continue the war.

Also, I don't feel that people in the west learn about the russian manchurian campaign which is a shame. There is an argument to be made that the Soviet invasion was just as influential at forcing the Japanese military to face reality as the entirety of Japanese forced in Asia were wiped out in about 30 days. A fascinating military campaign.

Also Bob is fat.

The problem we have with drones is because they can very easily be used to commit terror attacks.

One drone could very easily wipe out the entire Presidential line of succession or, for viewers in Bongland, the Royal Family, assuming they're gathered in the same place, which can happen. That is, for obvious reasons, a frightening prospect.
One drone can cause hundreds of flights to be canceled, and it can be repeatedly done. It comes to show that Bob knows nothing.

Bob being so thirsty cracks me up because there's absolutely nothing stopping him from seeing a hooker and getting it over with. Don't all liberal men support sex workers after all?

Also it sucks for him he wasn't born Roberto and grew up in Italy so Papa could have taken him to the whorehouse to pop his cherry in the great Italian tradition and we would have been spared a whole lot of his bullshit.

Getting laid won't help snap Bob out of whatever daze he's been in for most of his life. That shit runs far, far deeper than just being horny.

I’m surprised that no one mentioned that Bob just called Biden’s daughters Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup. Not even Obama’s daughters or Trump’s son Barron was fetishized with cartoon references like this.
Note he doesn't liken Chelsea Clinton to cartoon characters either. Chelsea is slated to be God Empress, unlike the Biden girls who are inconsequential dolls or at best handmaidens.

When I was little there was this very religious family that lived down the street from me. They wouldn't let their kids watch cartoons. I'm starting to think they might have had the right idea.
You should not let children watch TV unattended, whether you are religious or not.

You know I'm not against him laughing at this woman: she is really ridiculous and we love to laugh at the ridiculous. Still I don't think he has earned the right to call out someone's lack of "intellectual / moral willpower":

It wasn't just the invasion that was being considered. The Navy was convinced that a blockade would do the trick. What was later determined was that severe famine conditions would have set in Japan around late fall of that year had we gone through with that. Just imagine that horror.

Maybe he wants a whore that's high class and he just can't afford one of those. Sure, he could just not have McD's for a week and use that cash on a cheap street walker, but that kind of hooker probably wouldn't dress up like Princess Peach.

Does nobody report this shit? I just don't get why Breadtube hasn't used this shit as an opportunity to finally get rid of Blobby boy so he can stop making them look bad.

Everything was on the table. Everything. Even biological warfare and, more seriously, chemical warfare. I think that if the US had been forced to invade and starting taking high casualties, nerve gas and defoliants would have been used wholesale. I seem to remember some internal Navy study that suggested 45-65% of the Japanese home islands population would die in the following two years, if unrestricted warfare was adopted.

I'd say (and feel free to disagree with me here) that nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the least worst option because a lot of the Japanese population were willing to fight to the death and it was either nuke as many cities as it took for Japan to surrender, or launch a ground invasion and kill a lot more civilians than a bomb would have done.

Idk, nuking them was better than the millions of casualties (mostly Japanese) a ground invasion would have caused, but maybe demanding unconditional surrender was a bad idea because it forced both sides to raise the stakes to that point.

Unconditional surrender was relatively uncommon in wars before the 20th century, and those wars didn't usually end with millions of dead civilians. Maybe the Japs would've insisted on going full kamikaze-autism anyway, but maybe not.

The official story is that unconditional surrender was "necessary" to keep the Soviet Union in the war (why? Germany had already surrendered) and reassure the American public their sacrifices weren't in vain (nobody gave a shit about public opinion when it was against getting into WW2). I have no idea what the truth is, but MovieBob sucks cocks.

It's better to keep the crazy person around to use as your baseline for standards instead of booting them and then becoming the baseline.

The Navy, after their Submarines literally sank almost every fucking merchant vessel the Japanese Mercant Navy had, still considered a Blockade? What use does a blockade have when there are no ships to block from entering the Japanese Home Waters?
Pretty sure that was another brainfart of Admiral King, yah know, the same guy who thought not running escorted convoys along the US East Coast would be a fucking good idea, while a dozen German Type IX's pounded the living shit out of freighters all along the US east coast in early - mid 1942.

But tbh, the Japanese didn't capitulate because of the nuclear bombings itself, they capitulated because the had to admit that this was a weapon they had no defense against and therefore the war was lost.
I would argue that it wasn't solely because of the weapon itself. It was also the realization that they couldn't bring as many people down with them in defeat. Even if they were facing defeat by land invasion, the Japanese probably would have fought to the bitter end because they knew by doing so they would have lasting repercussions on their enemy. Imagine an entire generation of American men wiped out by this conflict. Or the economic burden that continuing to fight the war would have brought.

The atomic bomb presented a new concept that had never before been seen in combat: not only will you be obliterated, but we can do so without getting a single scratch. At that point Japan would have been stupid not to surrender. What is the point of sacrifice if you can't even land a blow on your opponent?

Bit off topic (and slight powerleveling too), but I gotta say, being born in South Korea (adopted into the U.S.), that makes me really, really embarrassed of my heritage.

You shouldn't be. It's more sad than shameful. Korea is (IIRC) unique among the Axis powers in that it lost more civilians than military. And yeah, I know that calling Korea an "Axis power" is only correct technically; they were effectively a Japanese colony.

It would be nice if people could let bygones be bygones, but it's not like the Koreans are pissed off about football results.

Twitter banned Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is no longer the President.

And yet Twitter STILL lets him live in their heads rent free. What did he DO that was so horrible exactly?

But Bob's DAILY angry rants about how he wants every single person who didn't vote the same as him in a democratic election rounded up and genocided because they're as good as dead weight? That's fine.

Autism is a very sensitive subject to Bob because his niece, Chris' daughter, has it and she seems to be one of the few things that brings Bob any genuine joy in his life (one of the few things that involve actual people and not brands and corporations at least). I don't believe Bob has autism, but he is protective of his niece because she does and that is why the subject is a sore spot for him.
Oh, I'm sure that plays at least a small part. But between his Mario/Marvel obsession, his bizarre writing style, and his absolute lack of social awareness (seriously, the guy has been shoving his foot in his mouth on a weekly basis for years at this point, and he still doesn't understand why some people hate him) I would bet money that he has a relatively average sized spot on the spectrum somewhere.
