As the saying goes "there's nothing new under the sun". I've heard the theory that there are only 7 movie plots. I doubt there's many people so extreme that they'd say there's only 7 films worth watching.

Just recently I heard someone accuse a story of being ripped off of an RPG, not knowing that the RPG was ripping off stories that pre-date computers.

Where Bob differs is that he's supposed to have a wider frame of reference. He's claiming to be a movie geek, but he still treats capeshit as breaking new ground. Just like how his knowledge of games is almost all limited to first party Nintendo, and even then he missed the GameCube entirely.
