Almost all great thinkers in the history of the world were religious. All it took was a few generations and religion is dying so rapidly because technology has somehow caused a rejection of old religion. Maybe phones and Jesus are just incompatible or maybe there's something to say about being a slave to worldly desires and how it corrupts your soul. I think it speaks to the arrogance that man is capable of. We've created jets, tanks, planes, astronauts, computers, electron microscopes. Surely there must be no god because we've created all these wonderful things? Could you say that Bob is missing some key religiousity that everyone else has? He's definitely a fanatic of science and of leftism, maybe that's all a human really needs - some cause to declare as sacrosanct and devote his life to. There are other choices of course: marxism, whoredom, consumerism. They all exhibit behaviours associated with religious fanaticism.

Bob is a deeply religious person but his choice of religious idols is a bit strange to say the least. Mario, Science, Marvel. A holy trinity of manchildren, if you will. Yet bob looks down on other religions because they're not his religion. It's really the same story as ever, x religion hates y and they bicker and fight with one another.
Jonah Goldberg makes the point (and increasingly I'm coming around to this view) that the real issue: is death. (Jordan Peterson may also have said something similar.)

As he likes to point out, as recently as the 1920s, the President of the United States lost his child because of a tennis game. Death of offspring was a very common occurrence that touched all classes and all peoples everywhere - nobody escaped it. Religion gives people at least one way of dealing with it (like the hope of seeing your kid in the afterlife).

As infant mortality has (thankfully) become mostly a thing of the past, and dying of old age become more and more the norm for humanity, then the need for a religious faith to handle the reality of Death is decreased. So it's not Jesus and phones being incompatible - more like without death always in your face, nobody sees what Jesus is needed for any more. Note how many of the places that are still highly religious also have fairly high mortality rates.

The past year having the world ravaged by a pandemic (that wasn't even that deadly) has given me further evidence for this idea.

An interesting analysis, and one I would agree with on many points. I would add that western civilization has seen nothing but unparalleled prosperity, barring the stagnation of the 1970s and the sub-prime crisis of 2008, but nothing on the scale of the Great Depression. Bob has never known destitution or desperation hence his obsession with material goods and satiating his hedonistic desires. His parents provided him with everything he needed until he was an adult and his patrons give him a reasonably comfortable living. This unhealthy with materialism has led him to believe that his ersatz god, "Science" and his prophets will magically fulfill his whims--like grant him immortality through an android body so he can consoom until the heat death of the universe. He believes in his utopian future in a similar fashion to how christians believe in heaven.

What really gets me is that Bob and his ilk believe that humans can be conditioned into becoming perfect beings whereas we are all sinners in christian theology and it's by God's grace that we can ascend to a better existence. One where will be reunited with loved ones we lost. Part of me wonders if Bob's desire for immortality is motivated in part by a subconscious fear of God's judgment. The man is essentially a personification of the seven deadly sins; given how he is too prideful to confess his countless sins, I could see the almighty casting him into the lake of fire. Hell, the existential horror of nothing existing after death is enough to frighten Bob and thus he wants his android body and starship so he can avoid both scenarios.

Why would you tweet during a movie that you really enjoy?!
I was going to mention that. Don't most theaters tell you to shut your cellphones off or something?
I can translate:

"WOW, I'm such a GEEK! See how hard I'm geeking? Comic references are for geeks, and I am a geek!"

Why hasn't he had his 5th heart attack yet?

Yeah, Hong Kong is only a separate entity on paper now. Too goddamn bad, glad I got to visit it on a whim a few years before it got swallowed up. Would love to trade even one of the independence activists there for Bob so he can experience the Potemkin future wonderland he fucking marvels over.

1) How much charitable work do you actually do, Bob? Who do you actually help? No, donating to a Kickstarter for a game that is actually a front to obtain funds for a tranny's bottom surgery doesn't count.

2) You say you're content to just let them cling, but you also want to unleash the Robot Einsatzgruppen on them. Which is it?

He's already delusional about his own worth to society, why would the image of his own physical prowess be any different?

This is one of the strongest pieces of evidence for undiagnosed autism. Autistics like order and routines and expect things to smoothly. They get angry if things don't happen a certain way. We all know what Bobert expected to happen in the world, so when that fantasy didn't happen he flipped out and has kept going ever since. Whatever therapy he had probably didn't account for the potential of autism, so it didn't help.
Not to mention, an expert told me that regular therapy DOES NOT work on autists, like at all. Probably for the reasons that are put forth in Bob's Mario Tome (he sabotaged his own therapy because he didn't actually understand why he was being analyzed and thought it was a good idea to "outsmart" the therapist). So yeah, Bob's definitely got more than a few skill points assigned to Autism.

Bob would not only have to have been diagnosed with Autism back then, but also get a therapist that knows how to tardwrangle autists into therapy they'll go along with.

Bob's perception of Christianity is stuck to where it was during the Bush years. In his mind, practitioners of religion will always be the SNL Church Lady, a self-righteous harridan played by Dana Carvey, who invited celebrities to her show just so she could scold them and asset her own superiority. Of course, all of her Conservative "guests" were strawmen versions of their real world selves that she could easily bully. I have to admit, Evangelicals and the Religious Right in general were so far up their own asses from the 50's to the early 2000s, that I could see how mocking them would be fun. The golden time to be a Leftist was during the Sexual Revolution all the way to the Obama years, because you saw one cultural victory after another, and all while knowing that you were on the same side of history as all of the world's Cool Kids. It didn't hurt that this time period also coincided with the wealthiest and most technologically advanced era in American history. Movies were at their most advanced, culminating with the LOTR series, perhaps the greatest trilogy (featuring CG) ever filmed. Bob had to be riding the top of the world in the early 2000s.

Of course, the 2008 Recession changed everything. Radical leftists pushed gay marriage and Critical Race Theory through with the help of Obama, and the Culture War was pretty much won. But the Hollywood Left didn't want to give up their greatest source of fun: ragging on Evangelical Christians. The Hollywood Left didn't want Nazis to fade away, because they were the greatest villains of all time: white, powerful, arrogant, safe to hate, embodying the greatest sin of all: Racism. So the Left (and Bob) had to gin up Nazis, Gay-Hating Christians, and White Supremacists and constantly scream about how threatening they were - like con men puppetting fake ghosts to convince a bunch of brainless peasants to fork over money for a fake exorcism.

Everytime MovieBob spouts off about Godbotherers, it only makes him look more out of touch. I bet he can't even think of a single local religious person who's ever done him or his family, or any of his troon friends any real harm. And for all of his talk about how Leftists are more giving than Conservatives, I'll bet Bob never gave to any charity, unless it's main purpose was to convince 6 year olds to cut off their own dicks.

I've mentioned before but Studio 90 On the Sunset Strip is a decent microcosm of the worst elements of the left in the 00s and how they still think they are in forever war with the fundies.

Also, I'll defend the Church Lady sketch/character in that she was kind of a base character who took on BOTH sides of the political aisle. From Anne Heche to Rob Lowe, Eminem, and other left wing darlings; Dana Carvey was an equal opportunity type when it came to the people who earned the Church Lady's wrath and that was what made her such a beloved character.

i think the key that DC (and marvel to a lesser extent) had was the interesting idea of a contained Universe that had been growing and evolving since '38-39. DC had always been strong on the idea of "legacy" and that was the big core theme outside of the Trinity of Superman/Bats/Wondy.

Key point in quite a few shonens? One Piece, Naruto, etc.?

Legacy or "Inherited Will".

Then N52 happened and blueballed DC. Then they couldn't stop falling down. Marvel's also similarly guilty of fucking up legacies but to their credit they do not have any major golden age ones outside of Cap/Namo/Torch and arguably the Vision if you do want to make the case for the design/name passing on. But "legacy" or "inherited will" was still an important lesson in marvel. Think of the end of the first Spider-Man story with the famous quote. I don't even have to type it. You know it. That quote defined Spidey and still does.

One Piece's issues with legacy are basically part of the mystery box stuff that is at the heart of the series relating to the Void Century and the Blakes Seven style evil government that rules the One Piece realm and the implication that keeps growing, that finding the One Piece will cause a societal happening that the World Government is desperate to prevent.

Also legacy shit in anime is half-assed in a lot of ways. See what happened to poor Gohan in Dragon Ball. Or how the most reviled season of Sailor Moon was the one that focused heavily on Serena's daughter Rini. Or how OG Gundam ended up having to copy Super Sentai's "one season one story" approach after the original timeline reached the point of diminished returns?

That depends. Walter Cronkite was seen as the authoritative source of news, though I suppose that's a slightly different question. Journalism may have been seen as a racket, but it was a real racket, conveying real news- now, we're slowly waking up to the fact that not only is it a racket, it's a fake racket, conveying fake news. Though I suppose a certain level of illusion was predictable; "It's no coincidence that the press got good press."

Matt Taibbi has recently started pushing Watergate as the shark jump point of journalism. That whatever altruistic motives Woodward and Bernstein (two trust fund brats who failed into a career in journalism) had in expose Nixon were eclipsed by how they used the story they broke to basically turn themselves into a motherfucking "brand" and celebrities, causing a flood of upper class twits to flood a profession that had until that point, been exclusively blue collar and meritocracy based. Trust fund brats and the "aristocracy of pull" took over the industry and that rather than reporting the news, it became all about the reporter/writer as a "superstar" with people fantasizing about becoming celebrities and having movies made about them and trading favors to be part of the aristocracy of elites.

"Ignorant people need illusions to distract from empty lives"

This lacks so much self awareness it's bordering on anti awareness.
The irony though is that the modern left won't even fucking LET people have those illusions.

The wholesale rape of the circus part of bread and circus is one of the most self-destructive aspects of the modern left/SJW death kult. Because if you take away the video games, the movies, the cartoons, and the toys from the masses and actively tell them they are evil and shit on them non-stop? You not only fucking radicalize the fuck out of the people who nominally would turn a blind eye to your evil so long as they got their latest Luke Skywalker movie or non-pozzed comic or video game. But you leave these people, you've fucking radicalized AGAINST YOU, with free time from driving them out of their hobbies and pastimes and now they have the motivation and free time to basically slit throats and destroy the SJW death kult machine.

Thanks for that nightmare. I better go kill all humans just to be sure this never happens.

Bobby thinks the USA just has "piles of money" lying around. I'd say he got his economics from Ducktales (assuming the US just has a giant vault) but Ducktales could actually teach fairly accurate economic lessons. Maybe he learned economics from GI Joe.

What Robert never wants to admit, is that once upon a time, eugenics was very much a progressive position. All the "vey smart people who matter" bought into it as a way for society to advance to the superior future. (Not making any of this up.) And the usual religious, "backwards" conservative folk opposed it.

I'm not even going to ask whether Bob thinks the old progressives were wrong - I really just wonder if they ever pause for a moment to consider, "Wait, might a position I believe in now be seen someday as the evil and wrong one?" Because it happened before, it can happen again.

What kind of loser tattles to his followers to "block and report" accounts?

Or! Here's a thought - close geographic regions led to a lot of cross-culture pollination between people in those regions and now stories growing from said cultures draw upon frames of reference that have a lot of overlap.

Or writers like to put in tributes to things they like.

The left has a huge issue with how a lot of early 1900s "progressives" were basically proto-Nazis and the worst elements of the modern right in terms of hating the poor. They'll do their best to ignore/bury people like Margaret Sanger being Hitler-level racists unless they absolutely have to.

Jonah Goldberg makes the point (and increasingly I'm coming around to this view) that the real issue: is death. (Jordan Peterson may also have said something similar.)

As he likes to point out, as recently as the 1920s, the President of the United States lost his child because of a tennis game. I don't think we've had a spiritual awakening. The fundies are still at their weakest point ever and the GOP basically has told them to fuck off to the back of the bus and gone all in on Trump's populism platform. And given the left has gone full "Die For Darkseid" anti-life, I doubt the religious right will make a comeback anytime soon given the massive paradigm shift politically and the fact that the right has no use for the religious right shitting things up and the left's anti-life belief system making any sort of proper spiritual revival on the left possible given that the only religion they believe in goes "Anti-Life Justifies My Hate" and "Die For Darkseid!"

He has few a points in Autism and the rest are spread out between Overeating, Stupidity, Virginity, Troon-Simping, Pants-Shitting Retardation, Ego, and Anti Self-Awareness.

tbf I was trying to make the point of "it's a theme that's overall prevalent in superhero capeshit from DC/Marvel and even kinda present in a ton of major anime/manga franchises."

What's funny is that I keep seeing Blobbo shit all over history and any idea of legacy for wokeshit talking points. It's almost like the past is bad and evil to these retards.

Bob acting like he's emparting some kind of wisdom to the poor benighted masses about Nestle makes me want to punch him in his fat head.

For 20 years, maybe longer, people in rural areas have been fighting against Nestle. From pushing city councils and county commisioners and boards to make it so that storing rainwater is illegal, to sinking illegal aquifier taps, to buying up and draining entire lakes and lowering the levels of creeks and rivers, Nestle has been at the forefront of creating the West Coast drought (with the almond growers right fucking behind them). Hell, at one point in the late 90's and early 2000's people resorted to sabotaging Nestle aquifer taps that had been put down illegally and wow, did the FBI suddenly show up to 'investigate terrorism' and protect an illegal pumping operation. With BLM (Land Management, not Black People) seizing land and allowing Nestle to hammer in a pumping station on former cropland or ranch land, things got even worse, which was another reason the Bundys got such support, because BLM had engaged in shitty tactics to take people's land, only to turn around and raze it for major corporations.

But no, Bob is all "While you were staring at the tech bros, Willy Wonka snuck up and did real evil, and you didn't notice because you're stupid and I'm smart..." and deserves a punch to the face.

For him to act like he's chuckling about something he's known forever actually pisses me off. This fat fuck has probably contributed to the problem by eating his own weight in candy every day as well as dismissing/blowing off people's complaints about Nestle as "obsolete mayo ghouls who need to move to where the water is" or some fat fuck bullshit.

I don't know why that tweet makes me mad on the internet, it just does.

I never said anything about a spiritual awakening. Though the public conversions of figures like Kayne West make me wonder if one is brewing. Aslan is on the move as they say.

I would caution you to not dare dictate how God will grow His crops. The next religious revival will probably not look much like the classic religious right. His ways are not man's ways after all.

So Bob hates exploited natives while wanting people to work in legit cages like a prison. What a retard who only parrots what he hears from others in an effort to be smart. He doesn't even have any ability to correlate basic EvilCorp business practices since for all he pretends he's a lefty, he's still a moronic Corporatist like so many GOP people he hates.

And none of those people care who wrote the videos, they were there for MatPat.

You are redeemed from your Obsolete beliefs if you are the right race.

And if you're giving Fatty McGee more recipe ideas, of course.

You know what, I'll actually agree with these Bob defenders. It is indeed somewhat pointless to keep dunking on him for the Mountain Dew marinade. It's probably disgusting, but not all that out of line with other soda marinades. More importantly, it's nowhere near as nauseating as that toxic waste bag full of hot sauced chicken he left out for five days. That's the real epitome of Bob's culinary skills.

What's your favorite vintage Moviebob cringe video/moment? I'm pretty sure we all agree "Building a Better Gamer" is peak Moviebob hypocrisy.
Watching this honestly pains me. I don't even disagree with most of the shit he says in the vid. But it's like movieblob somehow had a ultra-rare moment of self-awareness and saw everything wrong with his life, from being a massive aspergical consoomer to his horrifying diet and lifestyle, and instead of working to get his shit together, he just decided to make a preachy, pseudointellectual vid projecting his flaws on his viewers.

-On Bob and Chicken-
Haha what retard who refuses to take Ls even when it makes him look like a hick. I know exactly the marinade Billy-Bob is talking about, as it's a deep south dish that any respecting thinker by his own words would avoid like the plague. Coke Fried Chicken like that only stews for about an hour or so, mainly so its flavor, the spices you add, and other aromatics you introduce leech into the bird before frying it in a flour-egg mix.

If he's going for the more East Asian inspired take; it's the sweet sugar base you add to the barbecue when you make it like teriyaki. Regardless it stews in there for at best a half hour, and usually less since you reduce and cook with the sauce instead.

Either way, note that I did not say "leave it in there for days so the fibers dissolve from the acid, the corn syrup leeches into it, and then you suck it up like brundlefly". Only Bob lets his food rot for a bit before eating it.

He's only right in that Haitian food has some real winners.

"Have you come here to play Jesus?

Why does Bobby think "One" is written by Trent Reznor, or that it is about drugs?
I think he's referring to Metallica's "One" in reference to James Hetfield being mentioned in the top tweet.

The song about drugs written by Trent Reznor is Cash's famous cover of "Hurt".
