I was about to say I'd do you one better and say he has more in common with Uwe Boll. Than I remember, he actually makes movies. Shitty movies sure, but he makes them nonetheless. And he actually fought his critics too. Literally. The only thing that he and Blobbo have an common is a shitty attitude.View attachment 2409366
A lot of directors are assholes, especially the most auteur, they see any outside ideas to their own as plots to strip their art from them.
It is weird he chooses Kurosawa, when if anything, Bob's more of a Lars Von Trier.
It actually reminded me to an interview in which Von Trier calls David Lynch a sellout for, essentially, being able to socialize with people. Unlike Kurosawa, Kubrick or Von Trier, Lynch is highly improvisational, and usually, when finding something unplanned, instead of retrying the scene dozens of times, if he likes it, he might even incorporate it, and usually takes in ideas from his staff and actors.
How did Von Trier find out about this? He was gonna meet Lynch in a university, then saw some "suits" approaching the room, his reaction against these "Jehovah witnesses looking people" walking to the room was to hide UNDER THE TABLE for the hour the reunion lasted, like some preschool aged kid, then he says he lost his respect to Lynch for pretty much being able to talk to people like a goddamn adult.
Of course, Bob is too lazy to make even a shitty movie, he can't even use his Adobe Premier correctly after over a decade of using it, just saying that if he's gonna call himself like some uncompromising auteur he's definitely more of a Lars Von Trier than an Akira Kurosawa, they even share the same politics, as Von Trier supports dictators because he thinks the unwashed masses cannot be free and have a working society.
My guess is that he doesn't know a damn thing about neither of these people, I doubt he has seen auteur movies, considering that he just references and talks about industry blockbusters, his "rarest" movies being Toho Kaijuu movies, he just saw a quote and used it because it had a famous director on it.
Comparing Tubby to Boll is a bit of a stretch.
