I think the best kind of superhero stories are the ones that can balance the goofier aspects of comic books with some more serious storytelling.

Teen Titans (the 2003 one, obviously) is a good example of this. Some episodes could start out pretty lighthearted like the Titans going on a picnic but turn into straight up nightmare fuel like when Cyborg got kidnapped by a crazy guy who wanted to make him into a complete robot. It knew when to have fun, but it sobered up when things got serious, with not nearly as many jokes as an action scene in your standard MCU flick.
