His day-ban seems like it was secretly extended, ResetERA style. He won't have a chance to say anything.

The guy who made it worked for Milo Yiannopolous and when the mod team started gnashing their teeth at him, he threatened legal action. Rpg.net being what it is? Instead of restraining their impotent, hippy butt-rage they made it an infraction worthy offense to even mention that the game exists.

The ACKS creator told them in no uncertain terms he would sue if their staff defamed him one more time. So since the staff has no self-control any content related to ACKS or him personally is banned.

From what I gather, he sent a letter or email to the site's owner saying that the site staff/admins (who represent RPG.net) were posting that he was a Neo-Nazi and encouraging hate towards him, and if they continued he would bring legal action against them for defamation. I don't believe any documents were ever released but that was the gist of the explanation the mods begrudgingly gave as to why they could no longer defame him.

You could tell they're still sulking about it whenever the issue comes up, because it's a huge L for them not to be able to just say bullshit whenever they want.

It's the one I'm really struggling with. I thought it might be the dismissal as with the racism and homophobia but it was called out separately. The closest I could see, with forcing my brain into the non-stop offended space that is Rpg.net is maybe the fact that they said their dad was in the armour as though mentioning a gender was sexism?

My personal money though, especially given a different mod stepped in to scream too, is that the initial mod always screams sexism and didn't bother to check if there was any. The second is covering them.

I think I figured it out. He was talking about the politicization of fifth edition. The mods probably thought that was code for "I don't like women in the industry."

Tbh, I think the entire thread is a honeypot. I mean, pretty much any answer to "Was there ever a dark age for RPGs" is going to either smear an entire play-style, an entire line of games, or specific edition(s) of a specific game. All of which are verboten and will result in a trip to the RPGulag. In fact I'm surprised there hasn't been more bans and the thread closed for being a "dumpster fire", guess everyone's really walking on eggshells behaving themselves in there.

He said, "I have never personally witnessed any real racism, sexism, homophobia, etc." A basic tent of wokeness is everything around us is sexist, racist, and homophobic. If you played AD&D, the only acceptable take to have is to loudly denounce the drawings of sexy chainmail bikini babes and succubi and whatever, and to decry how the lack of inclusivity prevented women from enjoying the hobby (anything women don't like is, by definition, sexist). Anything less is sexism and sexism-denial.

I don't know how familiar you are with it, but basically what kicked off the satanic panic was a class of young children who told their parents that they were brought into tunnels under the school and made to do stuff like sacrifice animals. This was assumed to be children lying at the time, and I can see why.

I see this mentioned everywhere online and it's not true. The FBI files included speculative maps from a trash book about McMartin by a crackpot named Ted Gunderson. To date no real evidence of those tunnels has ever been found.

Kind of. The satanic panic spread to the RPG hobby due to the James D Egbert case but it didn’t start there. It started with “recovered memories” of ritual abuse. Basically a moral panic started by amoral prosecutors.

The Satanic Panic made playing D&D slightly subversive, if still nerdy. The hobby survived because it was being attacked from without. You had "fuck you" reactions from games like Vampire, too. Though I didn't play it was definitely creative and revolutionary.

Wokeness is destroying gaming as it was and replacing it with a repulsive, slimy pod person. And, for the large part, it is being destroyed from within. With the help of a large number of the gaming companies to boot.

I lived through both. While there is a surface similarity the amount of damage being done to the hobby by wokeness is magnitudes of order higher. When you played RPG's back during the panic it was kind of cool even if you did risk being called a weirdo. Now gaming is being turned into social programming. Fortunately old games don't disappear and if you can find a group that contains no mentally ill people you will be fine. But the hobby as a whole?

Anyone who thinks that the Satanic Panic was worse is a mongoloid. I've never been more ashamed to admit I was a gamer, now that it's as accepted as it ever was.
