I found this in the comments section of an Adel Aka video and I think it would have been a much better plotline than whatever we got in Volume 7.
some rando in the comments section said:
Why couldn't we get RWBY: Civil War? Weiss, Ren, Yang reluctantly join daddy Ironwood while Nora, Blake, Jaune want to save Mantle and Ruby would be caught in the middle of the two sides, desperately trying to get all of her friends to stop fighting over politics and calm the fuck down. Her being the voice of reason and being torn between two sides would also likely endear her to the audience and give her a wee bit of personality.
I could totally see that working. Weiss, Yang, and Ren take Ironwood's side because they think that it's better if there's at least
some remnant of humanity left if things went south and they're frustrated about not having a plan and blindly trusting Oz. Ironwood's at least trying to do something, which is more than Oz can say and thus makes IronPapi more trustworthy in their eyes. It's a fucked up decision but they think that it's ultimately better for humanity.
Nora, Blake, and Jaune refuse to join them and want to save Mantle due to all three of them being more idealistic, and they all are horrified at the prospect of having the blood of countless innocents on their hands. They can't go through with the plan, not with their consciences intact and clean of guilt. They want to try to find another option, one that doesn't leave people to die.
And then poor Ruby's stuck in the middle, trying to get the people she loves to reconcile.
I like the fact that there's at least somewhat decent arguments for both sides and a nice battle between cynicism/pragmatism and optimism/idealism. The testing of bonds between the teams adds tension within the group and makes the characters have more of a personality and individual wants and goals, since they're all currently in lockstep with each other on pretty much everything. It'd also cause Blake and Yang to have personalities outside of wanting to mack on each other and would unglue them from each other's sides, which is
always a win in my book.
