I love metal but holy fuck I had to mute that to watch it. For the love of God they need to stop introducing more characters, we don’t need this black Alice donut steel.
 
I was hyped for anime rwby because I was hoping it would be dark. Meh.

They have to turn this shit over to someone who cares and has actual talent. My god I would be all over a yoko taro rwby show.

The opening is so simple. A lot of it is just the characters walking around simplistic backgrounds, and poor transition effects.
Is Not-Alice-Donut-Steel choco-colored because people still complain that RWBY doesn't have many darkies? I like her design, but I'm easy to please. Jesus, there's so many characters that they introduce to make important for like one Volume, that'll never appear again.
RUBY IS SAD IN THIS VOLUME GUYZ, CAN'T YOU TELL??

Of all the accusations that RWBY is trying way to hard to be like an actual anime, this is a time where I can buy into those criticisms.

1. What big name VA will they wrange in to voice this chick?

2. How will she upstage our company mascot? (Judging by the OC, she's probably connected to Neo, so...no VA?)

Rate me late, but I think SocJus types seriously believe that the world stops just because they're doing some self-introspective. Nine seasons into a show is NOT the time to suddenly be like "oh shit, we forgot to develop our main characters". I said the same thing when Nora realized that she had no character in V8.
Heck, the bar for writing in RWBY is so low, countless fanfictions have done it better. They manage to flesh out the main cast, as well as their relationships with each other during the Beacon arc, as well as when they first start travelling the world. And a lot of the time, the end goal for all this is for a ship.
I don't think anybody who writes a fanfiction is like a literary genius, but they at least understand that developing relationships among your characters is a continuous process, and you don't need to throw them all into some whimsical fairytale land and deviate from the fucking plot to do it.
How shit of a writer do you have to be to think that character development and advancing the story are mutually exclusive?

Nooo Jaune is a really important character! He's Miles's self-insert, so that's why he gets to have all the main-character moments and is the only male the writers don't feel like cucking.

Am I just deaf or is anyone else having a hard time making out the lyrics to the OP? Yes, I'm listening to it again for some reason, because I want to work out what inspires this fucking primal discomfort. Oh, lol, Casey composed it. The beginning and end sound particularly like a kid going up and down all the notes on an instrument just because, and the whole thing is like she wants to fill her dad's shoes so badly. I always thought that while she was perfectly on pitch, she just doesn't have a pleasant voice for singing, guess her compositions are the same. This time it's not just her voice, it's like they insisted on mixing her already-congested vocals to make them compressed enough that it gets lost in the wall of guitars. Having actually looked up the lyrics it just reminds me that they should really stop describing Ruby as if she's so tortured. It's like the monkey's paw curled on the old fanbase's wishes when a lot of people wanted emo-kuudere Ruby like they thought she would be from the original Red trailer.

By the way, if there's anyone in here still wishing for 'RWBY but better', the closest I can think of in game form is Code Vein. Play that, get it on sale. It's not a masterpiece but the story is solid and the designs are like a darker, bloodier V1-V3 RWBY but with vampires and blood instead of semblances and dust.

Sorry in advance for the double post but don't do this, that game is a pretty mediocre Soulslike and you'd be better off watching a full play of it.
