Ladies and gentlemen, I present art.
Shama Abdelfattah/@Sh0_moo
-Sh0 only had episode 16
-Sh0 tends to do storyboards before the drawing. Sketches, lineart, shading, etc. But this part gave what she calls "the worst experience."
-Each section was done three times over due to files being corrupted.
-This was more detailed.
-Blender is used for the environment, but detail and background was lost as the files kept getting corrupted.
-While working on FRWBY V5, one of the SH was living in Japan, and sent 100 pictures of an onsen near where she lived for refrence. Sh0 calles this "super helpful".
-Celtic loves how "warm" everyone feels. Another artist calls it "vibrant".
-Fixing RWBY is all volunteer work.
Kitsune/@KitsuneRyuNeko
-The tree in the background is supposed to be a cherry tree. The purple was thanks to a miscommunication. Kitsune wanted to fix it, but there wasn't time. Celtic takes responsibility for this mistake.
-Going to a five person art with detailed background was "daunting".
-The lineart was the thinnest Kitsune ever worked with.
-This was the first art Kitsune did for Fixing RWBY.
-Kitsune and Celtic went back and forth a lot for Vernal's pose. Early on, there wasn't the right amount of "tsun" they were looking for and didn't look "tsundere" that they were looking for (Celtic's words).
-Kitsune wanted to stop at the lineart. Vernal has the prettiest eyes but the decision was made to have Vernal facing away from the viewer, and Kitsune says that Vernal has the best character design.
-Kitsune says this took so long that there's no timeframe for how long this took.
-Kitsune mentions not being able to do perspective.
-The interior of the airship was so barren, Kitsune didn't know what to do. Just two openings on each side.
-Another SH suggested putting in a fire extenguisher.
-This was the easier of the two artworks Kitsune did, and Kitsune mentions getting help for perspective.
-Kitsune tried really hard for the lighting, and tried to give both Blake and Yang a morning light, and to give each of them a color through the shading. Purple in the black for Blake, and gold for Yang.
-Kitsune wanted this to be "the bees' moment".
Rudolf/The Reapers Scypher
-Roman and the Goliath are inked in Rudolf's sketchbook, and the image had to be scanned in twice due to said book not being in a 16:9 aspect ratio, and then matched in Clip Studio Paint.
-Process, was to ink an illustration in a sketchbook, and color in CS Paint. This was done with this picture as a way to push the process to its fullest capacity.
-This was the easiest piece for Rudolf to do. He doesn't remember when he picked a Goaliath to do the framing.
-Each bump on the skin of the Goliath was done with a micron pen and then enhanced in CS Paint.
-The tusks are tusks from an actual elephant photobashed on.
-The smoke effect was a way to hide mistakes that were made. There are two different sources of lighting for him and his hair is digital.
-The hat on the cane was a request by Celtic. Celtic thought it'd be tragic if he and Neo had landed near the same spot in V3 but couldn't be able to find each other.
-Celtic calls this his favorite of Rudolf's work this volume. Rudolf calls this his favorite work done for Fixing RWBY in general.
-Celtic says the character is just "Malachite".
-Rudolf wanted to try a style that he wanted to do for his own work (black and white with selective coloring).
-The first two panels are in one page
-the rightmost panel took four hours to sketch.
-The most fun part was the graffitti and making the way look as "grungy" and "abused" as possible.
-The Schnee Dust Company Logo and the White Fang logo are on the walls.
-The second panel is flipped.
-Rudolf was excited to be assigned the reveal of Malachite, and he wanted to make it as "creepy" and "intimidating" as possible. He wanted to make her look like a "deranged sociopath"/"malicious poltergeist"/"ghost".
-Mupa came up with the scenario for Malachite's reveal.
-The sun was to justify why Malachite's face is darkened, and any religious refrences were unintentional.
-The eyes at the top of the arch was unintentional, and Rudolf added them because it looks cool. Celtic calls it a Great Gatsby refrence.
-Rudolf is proud of the concrete, with cracks photobashed and highlighted in.
-Malachite's pendant in the right most panel photobashed.
-Rudolf says that this piece is what his art for V6 will look like.
Rudolf has a speed paint video of this.
-This piece was a last minute request from Celtic. He needed the landscape. Rudolf agreed to make it three weeks after finishing Malachite.
-Celtic sent pictures of Neo for Rudolf to agree to do the pic. (Not sure if joking or not).
-Every piece of the illustration is from a different page of Rudolf's sketchbook.
-The furthest right and left of the railings are photobashed and blended in, and was done with Rudolf's phone's camera due to his scanner broke down.
-The roof had to be done twice due to messing up perspective. Only half was done due to a time crunch. The same was done with the buildings.
-Rudolf says if given more time, things could turn out better, but he feels he did the best he could with what he was given and the time allotted.
-The background is photobashed, at least the mountains and ground. Rudolf did the sky from scratch and it took four hours.
-Floof did the cloud effect.
-Rudolf's favorite part is the foreground with Ruby and Roman.
-Rudolf addresses accusations of "crunch" and " being exploited due to not being paid". He says everyone is in the know about production and what the volume is going to be like and when the script is done. The reason for this being crunch was because he didn't know he was going to do it until Celtic convinced him becauase he was lazy and procrasionarted.
He missed the deadline by a day. He doesn't regret making it.
-Rudolf says this contrasts Butterfly's take where the camera faces the characters, and this is why the lanterns were added: because he was working around what Butterfly did.
Valion/@VandalLegion
-Valion worked on episodes 11 and 20.

-This is the fourth piece Valion did.
-Celtic associates this type of motion with American comics, namely early DC.
-This was the first piece done.
-Celtic says he's happy that Valion did this piece first.
-The consensus is that this piece tells a story with a single image.
-Valion's inspiration came from shonen manga. Persona 5 is also brought up a few times.
-Celtic loves the expressions in this shot.
-Celtic was thinking that there would be a waterfall in this shot.
-Celtic says he should have had Yang yelling at Neo here.
-Celtic calls this his favorite Valion picture of the volume.
-Celtic says it drove home his idea of "Yang hallucinating" and what it would feel like.
-Valion used the red color from the Adam scenes, which is contrasted with the ground so she knows he's hallucinating.
-One of the SH says there's a "dream like, surreal" quality to it.
-This is a sequence of images. Celtic's favorite detail was Neo taking off her glove to snap her fingers.
-Valion used his own fingers as a refrence for Neo snapping.
-Raven was in the background in the first draft, but Celtic said to take her out.
-Valion thought there were many sakura trees in this place, but in reality there was only one big tree.
-When asked about the aura effect and how aura is portrayed, Celtic lets artists experiment.
-Celtic loves the TV Topes page for Fixing RWBY
Chloe/@cho_cho201 on Instagram
-Chloe doesn't like perspective, but she wanted to force herself to make scenes that had perspective.
-A lot of pieces were pushed to the last minute.
-This piece took the longest. out of all the ones Chloe did.
-This is Chloe's least favorite piece.
-Chloe was confused by the script layout, so she wasn't assigned this scene.
-Chloe enjoyed this quite a lot.
-This is Chloe's favorite piece.
-Chloe was surprised by how tall Vernal was.
-Chloe always forgot the flowers in Vernal's hair.
-Celtic says the idea of Raven knocking someone out for singing badly is "great".
-When Celtic described the scene, he imagined that there'd only be close-ups so cleavage would be cropped out
-Celtic had a chaste view of the onsen scene, and every artist was going "What if Yang's boobs?" .
-There's a lot of guhing over Yang, and I'm now wishing that there was someone to edit this shit before it goes onto YouTube.
Tyyne/@TynneTime
-This was the first piece done.
-Tynne's not confient in her coloring abilities, but she feels this came out okay.
-Tynne drew the backgorund, then the bike, then the girls.
-Tynne says a lot of the time she likes the backgrounds, but doesn't like how the characters keep people from seeing them.
-The split screen was done to hide how Weiss, Yang, and Neo were all able to fit on the bike.
-Tynne mentions not forgetting Weiss's scar.
-The SH mentions the name "Ice Cream Sandwich" for the ship of Weiss/Yang/Neo.
-The tree and the leaves was done by a brush.
-Tynne colored this piece.
-Tynne also added the rubber duck.
-Tynne was relutant to draw this scene due to Jaune being naked (even if it's Neo in disguise).
-Scars were forgotten.
-There was a different face for Neo as Jaune, but Tynne read the script wring, and Neo is being scolded.
-This picture was all digital.
-Tynne took a lot of time to write the kanji, including getting the right brushstrokes.
-Celtic wanted to challenge Tynne with this scene because Tynne doesn't draw action much.
-Celtic calls Vernal in this shot "weirdly cute."
-Tynne had help with the backgrounds.
-Tynne did all the paintings in the background.
-Tynne called the lighting on Blake " a lot of fun".
-Celtic says he feels this image sometimes.
-Tynne looked at refrences for the inside of the vault.
-Tynne goes "symbolic" for forgetting the flowers in Vernal's hair.
-Tynne really likes the leaf brush.
Sun Plank/@bofukeypok
-A lot of scenes were sold to Celtic by artist doodles.
-Shiloh is supposed to be walking away in this scene, and regretting what he said.
-This was the first time Sun used a posing software.
-The turkey is the most inconsistent part of the scene.
-Sun just placed Vernal there without thinking or knowing about the placement much.
-Sun was told to do "multiple locations, one setting" .
-Sun wanted to improve Qrow's pose to give the idea that Qrow isn't to be disturbed.
-This was the last piece of the sequence done.
-This was the first picture of the scene that Sun did.
-The sign on the back says "No Pets. No Animals."
-Nora's face was a way to add exxaggeration.
Sun tried to make everything cohesive in this sequence.
-JNR is playing a Magic The Gathering type game.
-The red card is art from Sun's cousin's wedding.
-The blue card is from Fate. Sun is a Fate: Grand Order fan.
-The orange is a commission of Genshin Impact characters doing JoJo poses.
-This is a Greek taverna, done as a way to do something different from the other isekayas/Japanese bars
-In the upper right, there's a picture of Phyrra eating a gyro. When asked whether it's a result of completing an eating challenge or a famous person visiting, Sun's reply is, "maybe it's both". Celtic mentions he likes the idea of Phyrra having the biggest stomach of Team JNPR.
-The chalkboard is a Rooster Teeth joke. Sun says "if you know your offensive Greek hand gestures", Qrow is doing that to the chalkboard and the rooster on the board. The hand being cut off is so it's subtle.
-Qrow is walking with Ren thinking he's a hot girl. Nora's crying about gyros. And maybe Ren.
-The blue cat is a Fate: Grand Order character.
-Different artists and Celtic contributed the labels on the wine glasses.
The Crimson Claw is Celtic's ideas, which he says is White Fang special forces.
-Jaune's scroll is supposed to be akin to the first iPhone.
-The duck and fog is done to censor and keep Celtic's video from getting demonitized. Sun suggested the duck, and the scene was originally drawn without it.
-Sun wanted to make this more serious, but says it's fine to be more comedic, and ease into the looseness.
-The fire in the background is from Clip Studio Paint.
-When this scene was written, Nora was going to be floating in an alligator float, where the head is the only thing exposed to the surface. But Sun thought Celtic said "alligator floatie", Celtic doesn't blame Sun for the mixup, and that he finds it hilatious and adorable, saying it reminds him of a floatie he had when he was a kid.
-There's discussion of Yang looking like the girl from "The Ring". This could have easily been put behind a Patreon wall.
-According to Sun, the duck landed on the rock after Nora jumped in.
-According to Celtic, this worked well for the comedy of the scene.
-Sun is called "The Queen of Facial Expressions"
Nol/@NOLNOL1234
-This was the first time Nol drew a background.
-Nol doesn't like how Raven looks, and says she looks like a gorilla.
-Raven's pointy teeth was because Vernal has little fangs, so it could have been something she inherited from Raven, and to make Raven look menacing.
Celtic mentions Raven seenms bigger than Weiss thanks to the structure.
-Nol mentions growing up a lot in her own way while working on Fixing RWBY.
-All the tents are the same.
-Nol mentions Raven looking like a gorilla, and having a tall head.
-Nol got a fire brish just for this scene.
-Nol was excited to draw this scene.
-Nol's first language is Japanese, although her English is good, so there was some miscommunications while drawing this.
-Celtic and Nol mention that Weiss looks good when she's slapped.
-Nol likes drawing tears.
-The picture of Shiloh in the back was Tai with more hair added.
-Nol forgot to draw Weiss's outfit. Weiss isn't naked, though they joke about it.
-Drawing the grass was a pain to Nol.
-The pattern on Shiloh's boots is an Ainu pattern.
-Nol couldn't get the pose right. Nol took a picture of herself in that pose, and she traced her hand. Everyone said Weiss's broad shoulders looked fine, leading to something called "Buff Weiss".
-Nol wanted to reduce the number of images she wanted to make, and she also got the idea from Rudolf.
Nol was inspired by artists in the Sketchy Huntsmen especially Sun Plank in this scene. She loves how it looks.
-Nol didn't know how long it took to draw this, and she wanted to do this without copy/paste, but other SH convinced her otherwise.
-Vernal can be seen far in the distance.
-This picture is what got Nol to do episode 9. This was fanart done while the scene was either written or shown using 3D models.
-Nol thinks this is one of the best arts she's done for the volume, and it's the background for her laptop.
-There aren't flowers in Vernal's hair because there are already flowers in the grass.
-Nol feels Weiss's eye with the scar looks too pointy. Celtic says Weiis likes sharp eyes with her makeup that survived the airship crash.
-Nol did not like drawing this scene.
-It was the first time Nol drew a character in this pose, the sky from this perspective, and the morning sky. Nol thinks it turned out well.
-If Nol could redo this, she'd have Vernal's knees take up half the screen.
-Nol did the table for this scene.
-The center pot is the same one Nol has at her house, and that was the reference.
-Nol never drew food before, and she says it looks delicious.
-Nol wanted to make a wide shot and add perspective. She was inspired the people doing art for Mistral.
-Drawing the manor was hard.
-I'm just now seeing Blake and Sun.
-Ghira was a pain for Nol to draw, and she stuggled for weeks. Nol calls him, Ilia, and Kali "The Trouble Bunch".
-Nol took a refrence picture of herself from Ghira's position.
-Kali was the fastest to draw. Nol is proud of her ears and wishes she didn't make everything so dark.
-Nol was confused about Ghira's design and how it'd reflect light.
-Nol wanted Ilia to wear her prison outfit.
-Nol just wanted to get this over with.
-The painting above Blake is Celtic's favorite detail.
-Nothing was traced.
-Nol thinks the woman in the painting was the first Faunus huntress.
-Nol had issues with Sun due to not normally drawing men.
-Nol was told Sun's muscles were off, but things were left as they were due to not knowing how to fix the issue.
-This was drawn in ten minutes.
-Celtic mentions that Sun would be a donut mascot later in his life.
-Blake's face doesn't seem right to Nol, and she's not sure how to fix it.
-This was drawn on a plane to the US from Japan.
-Lionhear's shield was able to hide a lot of errors.
-This was the second time Nol drew a RWBY weapon.
-Nol struggled with the posing of Mercury, and thanks the SH for the help in that department.
-This was drawn on a plane ride.
-This picture is 7-8k pixels wide.
-Nol wishes she could have done a better job with the streaks between the Nevermore and Weiss.
Quill/@PenPrickly
-Quill thought he could make this look like a Tarantino shot.
-Floof colored this shot.
-A sphere guide was used to make a fish eye effect.
-Quill says the colors enhanced the shot, but he's not sure who colored it.
-Celtic says Quill carried episode 13, along with another artist.
While Quill was working on the art, two ant colonies had to be wiped out from his PC.
-Floof colored this shot.
-Celtic mentions Raven looking like a bird from Kemono Friends.
-Celtic says that Quill got stylized after he choice speed over detail, though Quill says he doesn't have a specific style of his own.
-Celtic calls Roman and Neo trying to escape one of his favorite moments to write in the volume.
-Quill calls this shot funny.
-Celtic loves how Quill goes back to doing super detailed/hyper-realistic for Hazel's head.
-Quill calls this shot adorable.
-Quill had the idea to make this fancy.
-Quill made the scene an animation after seeing how frames stiched together.
-Celtic wanted to add a crystal shattering effect, but couldn't make it work.
-Quill enjoyed drawing Hazel, and Celtic called Quill drawing him "a relief".
-This sequence was also (kind of) animated.
-Celtic calls the back and forth once of his favorite of Celtic's drawings.
-This sequence was meant to be longer according to Quill.
-Quill says he would have added lighting, but he got lazy.
-Quill says this took "way longer" than it should have.
-Quill had "Immigrant Song" playing on loop whilerawing Nora being electrocuted.
-The entire time Quill drew this Nora sequence, he thought of Thor: Ragnarok and looked at what Thor did.
Celtoc mentions a lot of people were digging Nora with swept back hair.
-Floof came up with the joke "Right in the Hazelnuts".
-Hazel was meant to be hit in the chest/abdomen, but Quill thinks Nora would aim for the groin when she's angry.
-Quill says that working on V5 as part of the Sketchy Huntsmen improved his drawing. He calls V5 his "training arc" and mentions he was pretty bad before he started.
-Quill calls this one of the few shots he really liked.
-Celtic says that Ruby's hands are backwards and she's primarily shooting with her left hand.
-This is part of a sequence/animation that has the shell casing popping out.
-According to Celtic, Aura in FRWBY means a shot to the head is less "50 cal to the head making your head explode" and more "getting hit in the head with a brick. If a kid was doing the hitting. And the brick may be made of foam."
-This was a psuedo-animation.
Quill didn't know what the helmet was meant to look like while he was drawing.
Mupa
-Mupa requested this scene while scenes were being assigned.
-Mupa did multiple shots due to not being able to convey everything in one image.
Mupa did some of the poses herself in this picture, Roman's among them.
-Mupa redesigned the house where Ruby and company stays.
-This picture is the first floor.
-Mupa also did layouts for the basement and second floor, but they fell to the wayside due to not being as important.
-Mupa chose to make this scene her main focus.
-Mupa did the pose for Weiss.
-Mupa demanded this scene because she was so proud of Vernal that she didn't want anyone else to do her first appearance.
-Mupa enjoyed painting the background characters.
-There's meant to be a little mist in the background.
-Despite circumstances, Weiss is in a good place right now.
-Mupa did a whole bunch of pickups because she wanted to have at least one illustration in each video of the volume, as she had only one picture in V4.
-The environment is based on a real sushi restuarant near where Mupa lives.
-The outfit the donkey Faunus wears is based on an image of a donkey wearing a similar design around its neck.
-Celtic loves the expressions coming from Shiloh
-Celtic mentions Mercury looks like Pearl from Steven Universe.
-Mupa likes how Shiloh looks in his reaction.
-This was the second pickup Mupa did, and Mupa specifilcally requested an onsen scene.
-Mupa likes drawing wet hair.
-Celtic like Weiss's hair in this shot.
-Mupa forgot Weiss's scar for weeks before it was painted in.
-Mupa enjoyed giving the men different body types.
-Mupa likes drawing Qrow with his hair slicked back.
-Mupa's design for Ren was done in a way to show he could pass as a man or a woman if you don't look hard enough. The words "bisexual disaster" are mentioned.
-Qrow's eyebrow is because he suspects that Jaune could be Neo in disguise.
-This was the first pickup Mupa did, and she insisted on doing it since 1. she was excited to reveal Salem's redesign and 2. she was concerned that depending on who drew this reveal, the design could be distorted and this was Emerald's illusion.
-Depending on how things went, Mupa could not have shown Salem's reference sheet, so Mupa requested this specifically.
-Coffee edited the picture, and the brightness of Ruby was done so she could be the focus on Mupa's direction.
-Mupa really enjoyed this because it was a night scene with fireflies, so Mupa decided to go crazy.
-Mupa had a hard time finding a good shade of pink for the sakura tree and the flower patch. She hopes it doesn't look too bright or garish. Celtic suggests that it could be more muted.
-Celtic says he's not sure anyone drew the entire island set from a distance.
-Mupa wanted to do more illustrations but she came down with COVID (she calls it "the coof") and stopped to focus on recovery.
Quill (collab with Yuri)
-Celtic likes the watercolor feeling of these drawings.
-Celtic wants this duo to work together more often since they work well together.
