It's a shame because she did have shades of characterization and potential conflict in the early volumes that was slowly sanded off over time. It's like RT just forgot key character traits of hers, like her ability to design weapons and her affection for it. She could have been the team gearhead, that would have been endearing and fun.
I never really loved Ruby, she was always obnoxious to me and her whole character would have been better served as a support character for either Yang or Weiss as the lead. Yang being the group mom who has to tard wrangle her team, or Weiss as an ambitious go getter who now has to work with the hand she's been dealt since this really isn't the team she wanted.
The most significant part of the volume will be how the writers try to justify or backtrack on the disaster that was V8. Making the viewers sympathize with RWBY is especially important since they dumped a shit ton of citizens into a barren wasteland filled with harsh sandstorms and monsters last volume.

You see, they just didn't know enough about themselves. :(
I can't wait for Ruby and Weiss to also find out that they are lesbians. That will absolve them of everything.
Actually, from what I’ve seen and heard the ever after is suppose to be some kind of alice in wonderland world.
Oh Christ, I'm so goddamned sick of Through the Looking Glass and everything claiming to be inspired by it. It's never good, it's never interesting, and it only ever appeals to women and specifically women who describe themselves using TV Tropes pages. It's the lighthearted twin of how everything called "Lovecraftian" that isn't by Lovecraft ends up being dogshit.
The teaser for V9 dropped:
This. Is the story of a girl.

WHO CRIED A RIVER AND DROWNED THE WHOLE WORLD~!
Yay, lets waste even more time. Not like one of the MANY major problems RWBY has suffered from since volume 4 was wasting fuck tons of time on absolutely nothing.

I really like Fatmanfalling's videos where he reviews an entire season at once, but he seems to have to have given up on making these reviews.
I've always referred to FMF as "Walmart Digibro" or "K-Mart Digibro". He's basically every single bad attribute of the entire cast of EFAP rolled into one person.
Why do the backgrounds look so ugly?
The whole show looks ugly and always has, it's what happens when the company producing the show mostly scalps young artists fresh out of school and then crunches the everloving shit out of them. Plus, RT has never really upheld standards, their watchword has always been "Good enough".

I agree with you, modern anime does feel very incestuous. It's like all the shows are set in the same universe and share the same characters. I miss the days when each show was its own unique world with its own story to tell.
Yeah, I know what you mean.

I miss shows like,

1. Zoids: New Century

2. Zatch Bell

3. Shinzo

4. Yu Yu Hakusho

5. G Gundam

Those were the only anime I liked as a kid. I miss shows like that.

Yeah, I can understand what you mean.

The Wonderland stuff is kind of boring, the only version of Wonderland I’ve ever liked was from Alice: Madness Returns.

I know his mom slowly died over the past few years, and I have full sympathy for him over that, but I look into the comments of his latest video and I see this:

That possibly the worst advice I have ever seen someone give. Literally the least productive thing ever. FMF even liked the comment.

Let's see what he is doing with his twitter:

Great, looks like he is taking the Spoony route of internet famous people. Always nice to see a content creator you enjoyed in the past become a full-time Twittersperg.
Speaking of Fatman, what else about him don't you like? Any flaws in his review style, or whether or not he inserts his Twitter politics or some shit?

Just like Kiersi Dunst. I personally lost all interest in V9 the second it became clear they had all fallen into some retarded dream dimension. The show was FINALLY using some momentum to make things happen, shitty things sure, but something. Now we will have an entire season of the protagonists fucking around with Wonderland expy characters, and the heavy handed Fairy Tale shit just gets more and more obnoxious.

It feels like they took a spinoff filler plot and decided to shove it into the main show. I struggle to think of how anything that happens in this Wonderland dimension will strengthen the plot in a satisfying way. They find a weapon to kill Salem? Lame get out of jail free card. They learn more DEEP LORE? Like RWBY has ever had good lore.

It's just a shitty idea all around. They're going to make it home just in time for the actual plot to have happened to everyone but the main four again.

As a former fan of his content, his abject laziness has got to be the big deciding factor as to why I dropped him. His political asperging on Twitter is bad, but ignorable. Him clogging up his feed with 20 'reacts' with worthless holes like Dashi Li over content he clearly has no interest in is not. Nobody wants to watch him giggle like a fag over the latest episode of My Hero or whatever. I know his mom died, I feel for him, but I have a hard time believing that he utilized any time not dealing with that in a productive manner.

He had a real knack for entertaining and mostly solid critique. I remember really liking his Dark Souls 3 DLC review too. If he was smarter he could have branched out and started doing more interesting and varied content that wasn't RWBY adjacent. But like Spoony he seems more interested in Twitter posting 20 times a day and coasting off a floundering Patreon.

He is also incredibly inconsistent and very ignorant over a lot of things. He has some atrocious takes on pieces of media that he either hates or likes, and wears blinders for anything that contradicts said takes.

Also, drugs and Hot Topic.

You know, for a brief moment, that was addressed in V1. And I think Ice Queendom touched that as well.
