We have the same “Jaune being a crossing guard” scene, even with the moms hitting on him and one offering food. But this time, Ren and Jaune are also there. They also have new outfits
RWBY and JNR train and we just get to see their weapon upgrades. Yang has a chat with Neo during this.
Ruby and Jaune talk about Ruby’s silver eyes powers, unaware that Watts has them under surveillance.

Personally I'm going to wait for him to publish the omnibus version of it and his dev commentary video like he always does. I find that the stupid of FRWBY is way better injected all at once with extra stupid on the side.

Ironwood vs Watts
Pyrrha deciding to fight Cinder even though she knows she's outmatched just to feel like she's making her own choice
I honestly can't remember any semblances that were actually interesting, though maybe that's just because the show never really uses them in interesting ways; maybe the goat girl having hammer space?
- Volume 3
- Maybe a copout, but the Black trailer
- From Shadows
- Tough pick; toss-up between Sun, Adam, and Roman.
- Probably Oscar and Ruby, I really liked their chemistry when they first met.
- Qrow v. Winter
- Watts calling Cinder an emotionally incontinent retard in Volume 7/8. That was fucking therapeutic.
- I've always liked Blake's; ties into her personality, is useful in combat, and doesn't just feel like straight up magic.
Nobody said favorite weapon, but Sun's gunchuck staff is sick as fuck and maybe one of the best weapons they came up with. Simple and elegant.
I have seen then try to hype up RWBY on social media. They usually are get around 1-3k likes. Not that bad to be fair. Great even considering they are selling old volumes.
But they still have employed the same people that made RWBY fail last time, and made a survey that surely was filled by redditors begging for a volumen 10 and more slop.
I hope they have someone clever to realize they shouldn't listen to them because even Warner Bros couldn't make RWBY work. And eventually it got so bad not even their DC lineup could make people care.
Redditors will consume any slop, and people with a sunk fallacy will consume a continuation. They are loud on social media. But they aren't enough to make RWBY relevant again. They really should be worried about the people that left after volume 3 ( or 6 as someone still hope it could get better) and never came back.
I think if you just ignore anything that was made past Volume 3 and do a rewrite from there (at the end of V3) maybe you could fix it providing you have writers and directors who like doing cool shit instead of socially progressive + white noise trash this time?
Not that would ever happen though sad to see a web show I liked get turned into a homo's RWBY fanfic.
Mind, I haven't watched this show in like forever but I remember dropping off around either V4 or V5 because of it getting so fucking boring during those seasons.

So, basically anything after Monty? Drop half of V3 then. And no such writers, outside of very specific exceptions like the writers behind The Bad Guys 1 and 2, who were not too progressive, if at all.
I honestly wish we could see the numbers that convinced WB to sell the franchise. You are never gonna see them selling the rights of Batman, right?
Whatever was happening behind the scenes must have been really bad. RWBY must and been bleeding money like crazy
My best guess is that RWBY stopped being profitable around volume 6. It sucked before but I think this was the point most jumped ship and lost hope it would get better.
Not even crossovers with the Justice League, comic tie-ins, game licenses, an official anime, and mobile games were enough to justify keeping it. Not even a small hope it could be profitable later on?
Something convinced WB that RWBY was worthless to them. And only Viz convinced them not to just use it as a tax write off to be forgotten.

I really hate having to repeat myself this many times. WB DID NOT CARE ABOUT RWBY!!!!! WB is a massive mega corporation with billions of dollars in IP, assets and an even larger mountain of debt from poor management. RWBY was TINY and insignificant in comparison. RT was TINY and insignificant in comparison. The only reason they weren't shuttered sooner was that they were so TINY and insignificant that it took a while to cut through the rest of the blubber in WB's corporate fat to get to them.
Yes, RWBY was sold because it was not profitable but WB has been selling a lot of lesser IP's that were not profitable to keep the lights on for the last few years. It was barely a conscious decision on the corporate executives of WB's part, they simply saw an offer for a poorly performing IP they didn't care about and took it. It was a name on a spreadsheet that they maybe saw once or twice, that is the extent of WB's care for RWBY and RT as a whole.

UH? I only said I was curious about how badly RWBY was underperforming. I don’t know how you interpreted my post as implying RWBY was super important to WB. In fact, I was saying the opposite.
But like I told you last time, WB did invest in it, so that’s not entirely true. They got their DC brand to promote it, Jim Lee even made a cover for a comic, they made an anime, Ruby was gonna be in Multiversus, etc.
I will say it again for emphasis: Jim Lee, the freaking present of DC comics, tried to promote them.
That's far more effort than many of their other axed IPs that were just silently dropped for tax cuts
Yeah, I agree that the higher-ups at WB probably only saw red numbers and axed it without a second thought. They likely couldn’t tell you what a “RWBY” is even if their lives depended on it. But clearly, some middle management tried to save it.

I agree. RWBY was never relevant at the executive level beyond red numbers on a spreadsheet.
However, it still received far better treatment than, say, the Batgirl movie they axed or other IPs like Sym-Bionic Titan and Megas XLR, which were quietly axed as tax write-offs.I think that's more damning than simply saying WB never cared.
It's more accurate to say that the executives never cared, but a few people in middle management, especially those in charge of projects, as you mentioned, tried. However, Rooster Teeth was just that hopeless.
In this episode. We have the Robyn Hill rally, except here, Robyn is already a councilwoman and the Happy Huntresses are her staff (and we have Penny pointing out May’s gender transition). The rally gets attacked by Grimm, and that’s all been orchestrated by Watts pitting Atlas and Mantle against each other.
Also, there’s a lot of stuff about but being upset that she and Penny can’t hang out as much
Also, as a guest for @Sleazy Car Salesman and any others interested, here’s Celtic’s commentary for Fixing RWBY V6. Late, but I’m not sure if I posted it yet:
Been kind of binge rewatching RWBY over the past couple of weeks and wanted to share my thoughts on it since I wanted to come from a more positive perspective on the show. I went into this with a glass half full view of things specifically because so much of the discussion on RWBY everywhere is skewed negative.
Some general thoughts first on our main characters:
Ruby is great. I actually really like her a lot and while I know a lot of people miss early Ruby, her character development at least makes sense. There’s a reason why she changes so much even if she became a less fun character. For all the flak she gets, I think Ruby is probably the best character in the main cast. Ruby herself isn’t really responsible for the dumb decisions that happen in the story or that the heroes make, it’s either the people around her who do the dumb stuff, or things happen outside of her control. When Ruby actually is the one relied on to make a plan, it’s usually screwed up by other people and not really her fault. She probably fucks up the least of her team.
Weiss is amazing but they clearly didn’t know what to do with her later in the show. She’s just there later on. It might have actually been better for her character if she died in Volume 5, as sad as that is to think. I guess now she’s just going to get with Jaune at the end of the series.
Yang is great. For the first 6 Volumes. In fact this rewatch actually made me really appreciate her more and if it wasn’t for Volumes 7-9 she’d probably be my second favorite character after Weiss.
Blake is on paper a great character but in practice I never really liked her that much and then she becomes a cancer. It’s hilarious how they unintentionally made her a parody of nepo-baby champagne socialists and activists. They destroyed Blake’s character in Volume 4. Then she drags Yang down later.
Jaune isn’t bad but he isn’t great either and he has the worst fans and worst haters of any character in the show. He gets a lot of solid moments and development as he basically is the main character of a cliché light-novel. But the show is RWBY. And that annoys me sometimes because Jaune is often a screen and drama hog. I don’t think he ever needed to be as important as he became post Volume 3. He’s a solidly good and likable character in those first 3 Volumes, I just think he gets too much focus after.
Nora is fun, I think she’s also one of the better handled characters of the main cast. It’s kind of hard to fuck her up.
Ren there’s not much to say since he’s intentionally “The boring guy”. I kind of appreciate that.
Pyrrha I never hated or loved, I was surprised by what happened to her but honestly she’s not around the show for that long. I was surprised by how much I was “meh” over her. She’s used for a few good things but her death is literally the most interesting part of her.
And before I talk about the Volumes in more detail:
RWBY is not the worst thing ever. It’s a fun but flawed show. It’s certainly not as bad as the Star Wars sequels, the last few seasons of GoT, the end of AoT, Kamen Rider Decade, Mass Effect 3, etc. It’s not a good show either, but it’s not one of those truly terrible shows either. RWBY had a lot of things going against it, like budget, time, the original creator literally dying, and people reaching too far and being too ambitious for their talent. The lack of focus in the show was probably its greatest problem. The writing staff just wasn’t skilled enough when the show switched to become more serious. The fight choreography wasn’t quite as good after Monty passed. Some of these things were preventable and some weren’t. The first Volume of RWBY had a low ass budget and its full run time is barely over two hours. That’s a movie. That’s half the time of a half-cour of an anime. Even altogether, the nine Volumes of RWBY could be finished before you get past the Chunin Exams in Naruto, or just about. For a series as “big” as RWBY and as expansive as it tried to be, that’s not actually a lot of time to do everything. I’m impressed that Volumes 1 and 2 managed to do everything they did and make it work. I’m a lot more forgiving of RWBY because of these drawbacks and I think it certainly deserves more leeway than your standard Hollywood or big game studio production that has the same problems and end up even worse. The vitriol RWBY gets seems kind of weird to me because it was never amazing in the first place if you're looking at objective quality, but it was still something fun that people liked a lot, so when it didn't live up to expectations or disappointed the fans I guess that still can hurt a lot.
Considering the $3 budget the show had and the fact that most of the voice actors sound like they haven’t acted in anything else before this, it all turns out nice enough in the end. The show has a fun start for sure but it’s really just an intro and there’s not a lot going on. I don’t think even the most nostalgic person would call Volume 1 their favorite. Though Weiss is a massive cunt in the Volume and I love her for it. Sun is a fun character and Penny’s introduction and all her interactions with Team RWBY are hilarious. There was also a suicide joke that was a bit of a surprise to hear and really funny. It’s also funny how the opening narration by Salem makes such a big deal out of Dust and yet Dust becomes less and less relevant as the show goes on. Yet it does remain important enough here. There are definite hints and pieces to a larger plot from the start but for the most part things are really relaxed and just plain fun here.
The best episode of Volume 1 is Players and Pieces.
In a word? Charming. From the start with Emerald and Mercury’s introduction, to the food fight, to Zwei, to the humor in general, this is the most fun Volume of RWBY. The quality is vastly improved already compared to Volume 1 and the voice acting is better too. Roman’s a great villain, I don’t think he’s the best villain in RWBY but he fulfills his role perfectly. He just has that panache and extra bit of fun that no other villain really has. It’s funny how completely straight Volumes 1 and 2 both are, it’s also funny how the only characters who really have the plot revolve around them are Blake and Jaune. Especially Blake. Ironwood is great in his introductory Volume. One of my favorite moments is how supportive he is of Ruby after her confrontation with Cinder at the CCT. For a Volume that’s only about two and a half hours long, they cram a lot of good shit into it, solid plot advancement, character development, character intros, it’s just pretty well done. It’s funny how utterly impotent and useless Ozpin actually is in the first 3 Volumes, you might think he knows what he’s doing or has a real plan but he flat out doesn’t and Salem completely outdoes him. It makes some scenes in Volume 2 hilarious.
The best episode of Volume 2 is Dance Dance Infiltration.
The very opening scene with Ruby at Summer’s grave is astoundingly sweet. And oh my god the opening song is pure edge. It’s a good song but my god if you really listen to it and the lyrics it’s the edgiest thing ever. Qrow and Winter are fun characters for very different reasons and their introduction is pretty great, especially seeing Weiss and Ruby’s reaction to their fight. Also the beginning of the Volume is really fast paced, they waste no fucking time. But of course that still kind of leads to this volume generating whiplash. The tone just switches to an absolutely insane degree and it’s the first time RWBY gets “dark” so it’s even more pronounced. There’s an overwhelming theme of tragedy through the whole Volume, not just the final few episodes, especially with the benefit of hindsight. Ruby mentioning graduation, thinking Emerald and Mercury are her friends, just every little thing adds to it. There’s also more ship tease for Blake and Sun this Volume than Blake and Yang, obviously. Ironwood is objectively right about everything in this Volume and it’s only through things completely out of his control of unpredictable that things go wrong. There’s a very uncomfortable (in a good way) atmosphere starting with Yang’s fight with Mercury. What happens with that fight might seem contrived but it’s actually pretty well set up. Adam really needed a more mature and deeper voice, also it’s funny how compared to Volumes 1 and 2, Blake has way less focus. Penny’s death is damn brutal and then she’s gone from the show a full Volume longer than Neo. There’s a huge deal made about the Wyvern’s emergence and Glynda seems to know it was always there but there’s no real explanation for why it’s such a special Grimm and we never really learn anything about it aside from the Grimm summoning, but even why it can do that is unexplained. The big reveal at the end is pretty solid. I think the biggest problem Volume 3 caused with the show is that it made things too dark too quick. But it is indeed still the best Volume.
The best episode of Volume 3 is Heroes and Monsters. Though this was a tough decision. As infamous as the episode is, there are a lot of great episodes in this Volume.
Volume 4 was a mistake. In that it should not have been its own separate Volume. This is not what a full actual Volume of RWBY should have been built around. There are also too many characters and plotlines in it with too little time and many new characters that get introduced at the same time. Volume 9 fixes this problem later. It’s such a nothing Volume that just doesn’t stand on its own, it should’ve been Volume 3.5 with most of it being released as a side story in-between major volumes. Kind of like how Mass Effect 2 should’ve been 1.5. But seriously, you have Ruby with JNR, the backstory of Lie and Nora, Weiss’s story, Yang’s story, Blake’s story, the villain’s story, Oscar, the rest of the White Fang, Qrow and Raven. There’s too much going on and not enough time for it all. On an individual level, Yang and Weiss’s parts are the best, Ruby’s is okay, and Blake’s is cancer. Jacques is a fun asshole and Ironwood is the most based character in the Volume. There is largely nothing else to say about this Volume. Oh yeah and Oscar is fine too.
The best episode of Volume 4 is No Safe Haven.
When I started this rewatch I thought Volume 4 to be the worst of the show. But when I watched it, I found that the Volume wasn’t bad at all from a quality perspective, it just wasn’t all that it should have been. Volume 5 is the worst Volume of RWBY. Ilia is a cunt, Raven is possibly the most despicable and reprehensible character in the series, the entire Haven plot is retarded, they didn’t know how to properly handle the White Fang and Faunus. And this is also the Volume where Cinder loses half her braincells apparently. At least Weiss and Yang are still great. Ruby is fine. Blake is not. But Sun is good. Everything about Raven and the Branwen tribe is disappointing. Lionheart has one good moment where he calls Raven on her bs. Yang and Weiss are the best part of this Volume and the reunion with Ruby is great. There’s also some good set up for the big reveal in Volume 6 and the conflict with Ozpin. The biggest problem with Volume 5 though is it makes the world feel so small. Shouldn’t the rest of Team SSSN appeared? At least Neptune.
The best episode of Volume 5 is Known by its Song.
Oh hey, the show is good again. That really was my genuine reaction when watching the first few episodes of it when it aired. I’m glad Sun left, he deserves better than Blake. It’s funny that the gay pandering with Blake and Yang comes after a last bit of ship tease with Sun and Blake saying goodbye to her gay childhood friend. Maria’s a fun character, not amazing or anything but she’s solid. I actually like the non-linear storytelling at the beginning of the Volume. Honestly, one of my favorite little moments of the entire show is in episode 2 here when Yang, Weiss, and Blake together raise their weapons against Qrow when they’re suspicious of Ozpin. Team RWBY truly are ride or die. The Gods are assholes but at least the God of Darkness can be a bro. Also Salem’s backstory is good. The Apathy mini-arc is also solid, good atmosphere. Blake and Yang vs. Adam is pretty great and taking the fight in a vacuum there’s a lot of good lines and strong emotions in it. I don’t think there’s anyone who dislikes Neo.
The best episode of Volume 6 is The Lost Fable.
The Volume where Ironwood suffers the worst character assassination seen since Stannis Baratheon. Ironwood’s not even wrong with what he says about Salem and people being unable to see the big picture, it’s just that his plan is stupid. But then no one else has a good plan either. They wanted Ironwood as a villain and they didn’t care what they had to do to make it work. Anyways though the first half of the Volume is really just a lot of fun aside from the Blake and Yang tease and Robyn Hill being the worst character. Damn it feels good to see Penny again. She’s a lot more human and expressive now. I think the biggest issue with this Volume is that to make the story work it didn’t just take some characters making stupid decisions, it took the whole world not making sense. Just a lot of forced conflict. There’s literally no difference between the bad stuff Robyn does and Ironwood, she’s a horrible person, just as stubborn and untrusting. Salem telling Ruby about her mom was a good moment. Like I’ve said before, this was the show pissing away the last chance it had to actually be good.
The best episode of Volume 7 is Out in the Open. The worst episode of the entire series might be Gravity. Which despite having two great fights and the great Salem and Ruby moment is overshadowed by everything else. Although the episode right after, With Friends Like These, could be in the running too.
Oops, everyone’s retarded! There’s nothing in 8 as dumb as the end of Volume 7, there’s just a lot of little dumb things. At least Cinder is able to get some development and regain her good villain status she had before Volume 5. There are some good individual things in this Volume but it’s overwhelmed by all the stupid. Yang and Blake continue to be cancer but Nora’s good here at least. Yang gets one nice moment where she calls out Salem and that’s all. That cunt Robyn never takes any fault for Clover’s death, but Qrow sure angsts over it. As he should. I wonder if anyone thinks about all the evil horrible shit Emerald was doing right before “turning good”. At this point the villains kind of deserve to win because of how incompetent the heroes are. But Ruby doesn’t really deserve the blame for things going to shit at the end, the villains basically had an “I win” card thanks to Jinn. Nothing would have worked. It’s funny that by the end of the Volume we’ve reached Berserk levels of “shit’s fucked and things are hopeless for our heroes”. I think Volumes 7 and 8 are still better than 4 and 5 but in the end they might’ve done more damage to the show. RIP Penny, one of the few good characters from start to finish.
The best episode of Volume 8 is Risk.
Thanks to following just one linear story it really is way more coherent than any Volume since 3. We’re not jumping all over the place or splitting up the cast. The Ever After is fun, as are most of the new characters, especially Little and the Curious Cat. Blake’s genuine excitement at being in the Ever After is cute too. Weiss is mostly comic relief in the Volume but those moments are pretty funny and she, like the others, gets a really nice moment with the Herbalist. And her thirst for adult Jaune is good.
The Volume needs to be binge watched like a movie. It feels more like a movie than any other Volume and it helps this story in particular. When I first watched 9, my biggest issue was I didn’t like how Ruby just decides to be Ruby and she doesn’t become more jaded or rage at how unfair everything is, but watching it all at once again I didn’t have as much of an issue with this anymore. Her moment with the Blacksmith, her vision of her mom, it’s all really good and it helps set-up her return well and why she makes the decision she does. And she really angsted the rest of the Volume already, which was a nice change for her character. It really makes you feel for Ruby and how awful she feels the entire Volume. From the moment she learns of Penny’s death it’s just a cascade of awful for her. When Little “dies” and Ruby drinks the potion it’s a really gutwrenching moment. The only major problem here is that I wish Weiss had noticed her issues more and got to talk to Ruby about it, and Yang also not supporting her and being more defensive of Blake. But at least everyone comes around soon after and I think seeing Ruby essentially kill herself was a wake up call.
Neo is fantastic as she fucks with Ruby’s head, that whole episode and her illusions of everyone who’s died is really good and it’s some of the darkest and most psychological stuff the show has done. And Neo immediately just feeling empty after its over is a good use of her character. Neo was never given a reason for anything she does aside from Roman and then revenge for Roman, so she just has nothing to live for after getting that revenge. I think the sudden shot of how unhappy she is after Ruby drinks the potion and dies is really good. When I first watched the Volume I thought her “redemption” was unearned but frankly it’s not really a redemption. It’s more like everyone just decides to move on and not hate each other anymore, seeing the pointlessness of it all. Neo accepts that and that’s why she gives herself to the tree after and the girls don’t hold any spiteful feelings towards her anymore either.
Jaune’s struggles are really good, you see the mental toll everything has taken on him and I really think that moment when they meet the crystal helpers after they “Ascended” from being the origami people is one of the more beautiful and poignant moments of the show. I just wish he stayed old, that would’ve been a cool decision and not just giving him a reset button.
And the Curious Cat, a fantastic villain who’s genuinely difficult to pin down and predict. At first he seems like just another random member of the Ever After like the Red Prince, you wouldn’t think he has the role he does. Even the opening doesn’t make it seem like he’s anything special. And he’s so genuinely helpful at first and disarming, he doesn’t seem like a villain. Even after meeting up with Jaune and suspicious stuff coming up there’s enough genuine reason to think Jaune is mistaken or wrong or that the Curious Cat isn’t evil but just views things in a different way. And he’s based on the Cheshire Cat which while kind of a problem at times was never an actual enemy or threat to Alice. He’s a good character, interesting, and tragic when you learn the truth about him. But tragic doesn’t mean he gets to automatically be forgiven for the stuff he’s done and he shows zero remorse for any of it, so that’s why he still dies. But frankly I love his character, I thought the reveal of his true nature and desires was great, and I think he’s one of the better villains in RWBY.
So yeah. I think Volume 9 is just plain good now. Maybe second best Volume even with it being so different and “filler”. It’s funny that despite how miserable Ruby is and how much she’s angsting most of the Volume, it ends on the happiest, most hopeful and optimistic note the show has had since... god since Volume 2.
The best episode of Volume 9 is Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble. Good lord what a brutal episode.
Extra stuff:
Yang is a much better character than people give her credit for, at least before Volume 7. She’s a lot more complex and interesting than I remembered. It’s funny since in Volume 1 she doesn’t really have anything going on, among Team RWBY she’s just “there”. But then we start learning more about her and seeing her issues and she develops really nicely. So much horrible shit happens to Yang in Volume 3 through no fault of her own, it’s the bully Yang Volume. And then all through Volumes 4-6 she’s dealing with her PTSD, anger, and abandonment issues in some form or another and surprisingly it’s all actually done well. She’s the most compelling member of Team RWBY in Volumes 4-5 and has the best story of her own. Even Volume 6 it isn’t bad yet as you still see her struggling with some issues concerning Adam, and the ship tease doesn’t really start until Volume 7. Volumes 7-9 are just a blight, just a cancer on what was a great character. I feel so bad for people who had Yang as their favorite character, seeing what she became later. They just ruin her for garbage pandering. Blake already had problems, Yang is the one who was actually ruined. I will still say I am a sucker for cheesy happy scenes though and despite hating Bumbleby I do think the moment they actually confess is cute. At least it was out in the open, finally. And it’s still leagues better than Korrasami.
I would say the complaints about the fighting getting worse after Volume 3 are exaggerated. There’s definitely a little something lost with Monty’s death, he had a natural aptitude for fight choreography, but there’s still a lot of great action later. Some of it is definitely a little slower, but there are plenty of fast fights and martial arts used. I would say the music used in fights isn’t as good and there’s just a certain extra bit of flair missing that the early Volume action scenes had. Just a little something that’s difficult to put into words. Another problem with the action later is the simple inconsistency in strength between characters. Something that wasn’t really a big deal when the show was less serious but is now. But I still think people are way over-exaggerating if they say something like the action became shit, because that’s simply not true.
Cinder’s a really good villain in Volumes 1-3. After that it becomes a little muddy. Her strength as a villain in early Volumes is her ability to capitalize on new information and opportunities that present themselves, rather than being some grand mastermind. Even when shit goes wrong she adjusts. And when she learns about Penny through sheer happenstance she realizes immediately the opportunity she provides and it makes the Fall even easier. A couple of well placed comrades and Watt’s virus and that’s all she needed to do. She’s calm, competent, knows her strengths, gets the perfect allies for what she needs, and gets some nice fights in the meantime. In Volume 4 she’s recuperating and barely appears. In Volume 5, however, she gets hit with the moron stick. Gone is her intelligence, her ability to think and adjust on the fly, she gets tricked, and in possibly the dumbest moment of the entire series she pisses away the perfect opportunity to kill all of her enemies. Volume 5 is what really hurt her in the eyes of the fandom I would say. In Volume 6 all she does is kill an innocent woman and convince Neo to join up with her for revenge on Ruby. Nothing to complain about there. Volume 7 she does a mix of smart and dumb things before finally in Volume 8, after one or two more dumb thing and her deserved and amazing dressing down from Watts, she’s finally allowed to grow and get some development and she returns to her glorious older self, perfectly capitalizing on the information and opportunities soon presented to her by Neo and Jinn. The scene of Cinder using the Relic of Knowledge is one of the most tragic in the show. And she gets her revenge on everyone who “wronged” her. She’s a good villain, I think the fandom has a warped perception of her. Nice design and voice too.
As for other villains, Adam Taurus isn’t ruined in later Volumes, he’s barely a character in the first 3. I wouldn’t say he becomes any better or worse than when he first appears. Watts is a good villain, the difference between someone who’s just an asshole like Jacques and a genuine villain like Watts. Smart but not omniscient, he’s just a fun villain and definitely one of the better characters in Volumes 7 and 8. Tyrian is good, he’s just the crazy psycho villain but he’s good at that, and it’s really funny at the same time because despite being a nutjob he’s the only one who seems to fully understand what he’s doing. Everyone else working for Salem is delusional. Tyrian is the only one who’s like “Oh she wants to kill everyone? Awesome.” and it’s hilarious.
Robyn Hill is probably the worst character in the show. At least Raven is intentionally a horrible person.
Anyone who thinks Ozpin should’ve reincarnated in Jaune is insane.
In a weird way RWBY is kind of an accurate portrayal of what would happen if you asked a bunch of teenagers with problems to save the world. Team RWBY gets a lot of shit but I find it difficult to blame them. The characters make mistakes, are hypocritical, but it all feels realistic. Even though it’s probably really just bad writing. Also this doesn’t excuse all the adults being stupid, just the kids.
And lastly I'm surprised at how alive the fandom is for what's basically a dead show. I was surprised at the good fan content still being made and how a lot of good RWBY fanfiction, something I was never into previously, has been pumped out and is still being pumped out within the last couple of years.
