He just kind of showed up into a plot where he was completely irrelevant after his story was already done with, after his character had already gone through enough changes to be unrecognizable and reduced to "stalker dude", after his victim let him go knowing that he was totally going to murder more people, after getting nerfed so that characters he previously ROFLstomped can now manage to beat him, and after murdering several Atlas soldiers because team RWBY distracted them (as a preview for the next ark!). The only thing you could really praise about the whole thing without being silly is the fight itself.

Like just the choreography part. Nothing else makes sense. There isn't any leadup or payoff.
Even the choreography wasn't much more than average. The best parts of the fight were literally taken from Monty's old work. Nothing wrong with that, but it shows that when a man who has been dead for years does better work then a whole team of animators that your animation team/directors are not playing with a full toolset. Even then, it only looks great because every other fight in this show has devolved to slow amateurish nonsense.

And I argue a large part of that is that the animators legitimately lack a grasp of timing. Not just in terms of fight choreography, but in animation in general. Things either move too fast and weightless or too slow and over-weighted with no real in-between. What i think would help would be actually getting a good fight choreographer that can do his own take on the fights and not simply ape off of Monty or anime all the time. Hell, maybe even use some real life references if they can't get one and base their shit off of that (and no I don't mean stealing from movies either). Maybe even have some smears here and there- it's a great shortcut to convey weight in a very quick motion and works great with fight scenes and comedic moments especially. But as it stands, the action scenes are pretty underwhelming in the Maya era outside of like one or two fights and the hoverbike/Grimm chase from this volume.

Honestly, from a guy who doesn't understand finer technical points, I'd just say that the fights always seem to just be a high speed collision pretty much every time since day one. Every fight has people going all out like a runaway train every time, and every person seems to rely on raw power and brute strength, with Neo being the only one to not use either of those things since she seems to do a method of letting people rush in and be hit by counterattacks. It's why I eventually stopped caring about things like power levels or power scaling in this show: because for the most part, there was nothing much to have a "scale" be worth a damn.

Yeah, I’m gonna need some citations for that, especially considering that this is RWBY, a show that has no consistency.

Its consistently inconsistent
People really overestimate how much people put into things like consistency. Every problem with this seems to come from CRWBY punching above its skill level and it led to the fandom thinking it's bigger than it actually is.

The current crop of the FNDM. I cringed reading this. This is from Hbomb's video, by the way.

I mean it can work, but there's a lot of inconsistencies in the show that hint otherwise.
Here's some points that support the argument of them being in an abusive romantic relationship:
- In the Adam character short, you can argue that he was abusing her early on through gaslighting, but it doesn't mean "that's an abusive romantic relationship". It's an abusive relationship, whether it be a mentor-apprentice one or just as co-workers, but I don't think there was really a romantic side to it.
- During the fall of Beacon, Adam refers to Blake as "my love" which can be taken as "they were in a romantic relationship", but can also be interpreted differently (eg. one-sided love, obsession, etc.)
- In Volume 6, I think Adam spends a good chunk of his time stalking Blake and trying to get a good opportunity to attack her. During the fight, we can kind of see implications that they were in a romantic relationship through the dialogue.

However, those arguments can work in the context of them being in another relationship, like a mentor-apprentice one. The first one already goes without speaking, second one can be seen as Adam being obsessed with Blake as she's been the (only?) one that always stuck by his side, third one can be seen as a revenge scenario of why did Blake betray Adam and the White Fang as a whole.

The inconsistent parts:
- The Black trailer doesn't really hint at them being in a romantic relationship. Granted, this was released when the show was in the early stages of production so it probably doesn't mean much.
- I believe in Volume 4/5, Blake refers to Adam as 'spite'. She doesn't talk about him as an abusive person or what shit she's been through, she just talks about how her perception of him changes as she spent more time with him - that his ideals and perception of humans lead him to use more violent methods. There weren't really any implications of a romantic relationship happening between the two. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.
- If Adam was that possessive of Blake, why didn't he take more action to get her back? If he couldn't go find Blake himself, he could always tell his subordinates to keep an eye out for Blake (or just bring her back to him).
- Volume 2 was about going after the White Fang and trying to catch Torchwick and the other baddies. Blake was the main driving force behind the whole operation (?) to the point that her teammates had to tell her to chill out and relax. Blake knows that Adam is one of the leaders of the White Fang, so the possibility of encountering him is there. If Blake and Adam were in an abusive relationship (doesn't even have to be romantic), wouldn't Blake be more careful and hesitant about going in?

Shit's definitely going down when the hiatus is over. No doubt about it.

- The army actually gets to do something useful for a change instead of getting their asses kicked by teenagers.
- Plenty of "emotional" moments to be had, not a fan of the one May has with RWB, but the one with Ren was rather amusing, if only for Winter to pull rank on Harriet. Though I was kind of expecting her to punch Winter's face in anger.
- Turns out the only one who knew about Salem's plan to genocide all of existence was the scorpion. And Hazel's tried to kill Salem himself a few times.
- Whitney and Weiss get a minor bonding moment before Penny craters her way outside the mansion, which was also nice. Kind of wonder how they're going to handle that last part though when they get back.

Lol, as much as Hazel trying to kill her is any indication, it's simply that even the writers realized too late how fucking retarded it is for the guy to join up with the main reason for why his sister died in the first place.

Still doesn't negate the fact that he still joined her in the end.

The army was useful? They placed units in a fucking parade formation, on the ground, outside of the walls, while fighting a fast moving enemy that surrounded them. The Atlas military is fucking dead, wiped out to a man.

I haven't been watching for like the past two or three seasons, but I have a better strategy. Get the soldiers on the walls, sniping every single big grimm and use explosives on the smaller ones. Mine the land outside of the wall, to make sure every inch gained costs the grimm a dozen or more. They had time to assemble the army outside, so they could have used that time to plan accordingly.

I meant realtive to what's been shown so far with how they've been jobbing to a bunch of teens. Not in the sense of them actually doing something of worth.
