Actually I forgot what I originally wanted to post when I said that.

I just wanted to show you this:

  • Vaguely Serpentine Body
  • Soft, colourful parts
  • Spines along it's sides
  • Spitting Weapon
  • Mouth with extra side-bits
  • Heavy Carapace on it's head
  • Large Forehead...
  • Long Pointy arms
...Now where have I seen that before?

Implying every other design from this show wasn't shamelessly stolen from far better properties.

I don't get what the big deal is with the grim - Ruby and Crew have fought humans, and faunus...

And if you wanna be really dark, they've KILLED Faunus. And if it's because of the monsterfication stuff - Again, Cinder. Ruby had to have known that she's part Grimm, otherwise why would her Silver eyes even work?

Also, speaking of the silver eyes - They're so inconsistent.

I assume it's more the question of if the Human-made-Grimm is a willing participant or a brainwashed slave. People they've killed before willingly went after them of their own volition, the White Fang knowingly trying to slaughter an entire city. As well as the fear that a fate worse then death awaits Ruby and Co if they lose.

Damn, this is a better character development than anyone in RWBY ever got.

But seriously, if you like unadulterated criticism of RWBY then this may be the best place tbh. Tho there are other good stuff on the farms to talk about, if you like to check around a bit. Hope you enjoy the time here.

By the way, if you are who say you are (can never trust the internet), I'd say you should be bit anonymous than your other social medias.
I am. My alias and "theme" (the anime girl) are way different than the ones on my other social media accounts. I'm not even going to bother saying anything on my profile.
Thank you by the way. LMAO

if you are who you say you are - no offense intended, we just get a few fakers now and then - you may want to make sure people can't trace back to any other accounts knowing your twitter/kiwifarms usernames, or any connections like that.
Don't worry, I have privatized everything regarding my profile on here and am not saying anything about myself. My alias is different here as well. Not like I'm in any fandoms anymore anyway...

Well that’s a great attitude for hanging out here.
I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not since this is all online, but yeah I don't really care anymore.
My criticisms all stem from a love for RWBY; a sort of desire for RWBY to be as good as it was in Volumes 1-3. I know it's probably not going to happen, but it just pisses me off when I see where RWBY is today... it's like all of the passion has just been thrown out the window. It's too late for any company to purchase RWBY and want to make it good again. RWBY is a lost cause that they're milking for money.

long time lurker- apologies ahead of time for any word salad.

wanted to say the last episode was very.. jarring? Weiss seemingly can't emote. The fights were very janky. I'm one of those people who was pretty oblivious to a lot of the plotholes going on because I'm in the "enjoyed the fight scenes" camp, but even this episode just seemed weird.

The anticlimatic fight with the winged-wolf-grimm thing, silver eyes don't do shit, which was presented like "eh, ok, sure I'll just laserbeam the dude." and can apparently be OK from that, but a statue fucks them up. What is the deal with these weird strengths and weaknesses of these monsters? I can't comprehend if somethings insanely strong and intimidating, if they just kill it so poorly.

The zerg fight was fucking awful. From the forced dialogue to the action, I got more enjoyment from the Edd Ed n Eddy version posted here, it even fit better like holy shit.

I think what I realize post writing this is that this episode seemed to really fuck up tone and emotions. Nobody sounds like the world is REALLY being fucked up by this evil, unstoppable witch lady, it just feels like another mediocre quest at beacon.

Also the opening feels very boring and static. It's just poses, being frozen, and characters walking a few steps and then making some face that supposed to say they're a hero or a bad guy, I should probably rewatch the old openings but this one just feels super poor.

You putting it into words translates to better writing than this show.

By a large margin.

This was probably the first episode made during lockdown so they were likely getting used to the new situation forced upon them. Because there is a lot of wonkiness and poor CGI in this episode (more than usual, I mean). Like the very pixely crack texture on the ice wall when the Hound breaks through it.

I fucking haaaaaate this volume's intro.

Any reasons as to why? I mean, all I can say about them is that they seem to be like some generic anime intro with Casey doing the type of music and songs that stayed on MySpace pages for a reason.
It seems so disjointed and jerky. And I'm willing to cut them a lot of slack this year because of The Big Sick, but the sketch-over (idk if there's a real word for it but we all know what I mean) aesthetic annoys me.

Is it just me, or some shit feels like it's in the "too little, too late" category? Like Watts becoming a homie & Willow's intro are things that feel like they should've been in V4. Grimm actually being a threat feels like V1 material, but reminds me that power levels in RWBY are worse than some shounen anime.

You're not wrong. Although I'd say that some of the things are the fact that the show feels like two shows put together with super glue and duct tape. The main thing we've been hearing about the structure of the show was that the Beacon arc was supposed to set up and lead to V4 onward. But for whatever reason....that didn't happen, or didn't do a good enough job (I'd say the grade would be D- if you're feeling generous).

As for power levels....that's never been a thing in this show. NEVER. I could go on and on about how things like power levls and power scaling are things that aren't worth getting mad over, but right now I'll just say that RWBY from day one was all about rule of cool, style over substance fights that didn't give a shit about things like rules or limits, and was proud of not giving a shit. And people thought it made the show better.

You can tell the Blake vs Grimm fight this episode was bad in that even r/rwby can't stand it and there's been several threads mocking it and poking holes in the excuse of "Team RWBY were too tired to fight well this season."

Anyway, Eddy had a big meltdown on Twitter over getting tagged in someone's review of RWBY and went on to make a Twitter thread where he told people to stop @ing him with critical content which devolved into him strawmanning criticism of him being thin-skinned.

"Insists that he isn't thin skinned."

"Goes into a tweet tirade being buttmad that people paint him as thin skinned."

I’m guessing RWBY was never meant to get this big. Or get this level of criticism.
