Its no worse than "his semblance is an iron will". Its depressing that semblances have devolved into character traits. Its honestly just a copout for shitty writing at this point.
CRWBY has never really had the ability to create new fighting abilities out of nowhere and make them useful like what Hirohiko Araki seems to be able to do with stands. Hell, even the semblances Monty came up with were pretty basic, and the all powerful Maidens were just “control the elements” shit straight out of Avatar.

And Batman's semblance is solving puzzles?
And now it's a super power instead of a skill.
Seemed to me like it had something to do with echolocation. We see him do this in the comic

He says his semblance isn’t anything “particularly glamorous, but that solving puzzles has always been something he‘s good at.”
So I just assumed his semblance was the echolocation/whistle shit, and it could just help him find shit as well.
It’s weird, and I’m not even sure my assessment is right, but that’s what I took from it anyway.

I thought that at first, but later in the 4th issue, he re-states that his semblance has something to do with 'seeing patterns' and 'unlocking puzzles' when they're doing the roll call and explain of everyone's abilities. Oh yeah, this is also where Bruce reveals that his weapon is a battle axe. Why? Was it just for the bat pun?

She is waifu bait, but people also just seem to have a fondness for mute characters. Seriously, think of any character that never talks, and people will most likely have a positive opinion of them. Doomguy, Chell, Link, Samus, Gordon Freeman, etc.
There's also Amaya from The Dragon Prince. Complete badass.

Not really surprising given how the writers blamed Ironwood's behavior on his Semblance that was only explained in a Zoom recording.

Because the writers weren't creative enough to give him a cool weapon that fits in with the melee/ranged switch mode that RWBY weapons have combined with something that Batman uses. it doesn't need to be a gun. He could have curved knuckledusters attached to a wrist mechanism allowing him to either fight in melee, launch them like batarangs or fire them off with a piton and grappling wire like the grapnel gun for mobility.
Make the main part of the weapons the mechanical scaffolding on his fists and give it a bunch of different heads that can be interchanged and modified to suit the situation. He could even keep them on him somewhere. Man, if only Batman was famous for having some kind of belt that all manner of bullshit can be pulled out of.

Fuck's sake, RWBY comics, can't wait for the completely creatively bankrupt, irony poisoned turtle-faunus version of The Flash. It's going to be really creative.

Actually the Flash comic already came out a day or two ago. It’s up on ComiXology for 99 cents. And it got Storytimed on 4chan’s /RWBYg/ yesterday.
The Cyborg comic comes out next week.

Apparently the SDC creates him.

Its a pretty shitty theme then since both Raven and Ironwood make most of the correct decisions and every time the main cast goes against them they end up making things worse.

If anything, the theme is that authority figures have authority for a reason and little shits in their teens (and a drunkard) shouldn't be in said authoritative positions.

I’ll give you Ironwood, but Raven? The bitch that dumped her husband with their child and left? The bitch that went to hang out with bandits to rob villages and give no shits when Grimm attack the remains? The bitch that murdered a child for power? The bitch who had no qualms helping people destroy a kingdom and murder her brother and daughter?
Raven wasn’t right about a single thing period. She was a sniveling coward and a hypocrite.
