This game won't fully uninstall, so I would advise looking into your steamapps folder and removing it manually. I had 15 GB taken by the leftovers.

And if it's still in your library you get a wonderful update that never actually finishes. This has been going for like 2 days and I can't cancel it LOL.

do they have global wide janny system, like if i say nigger on a server will you get banned from everything?
of course they do, at least as stated in facepunch tos which should cover sbox infrastructure and their other games:

EDIT:
while s&box eula says that "facepunch services" tos doesn't entirely apply for s&box, saying NIGGER can be loosely tied to the rule 2 of sbox eula, which will lead to a game ban. definitely can be applied to content uploads and reviews because they're hosted on sbox website.

as for now, the only way to submit reports I've found is a "report abuse" section on game and asset pages

the in-game text chat is unlikely to be monitored by facepunch since there isn't a single unified way to add text chat and game makers have to add it manually.

To my knowledge no one is banned from the game itself yet, you can get banned from the site which prevents you from posting comments or creating an organization (when it actually works, sometimes banned users can still post comments LOL). That wouldn't be so bad if the organizations weren't currently the only way to share your finished game with others. Exporting to steam will be an improvement over this, but again, it remains to be seen how good of an option that is and what the terms* of it are.

* There is currently a rumor that all exported games MUST be on Steam in addition to any other platforms. So no doing mobile only, Epic only, or anything like that. Steam is great, I'm not trying to be a Steam hater, but IMO this decision should be up to the game dev. People already like Steam; you don't need to force it down everyone's throat.

Nothing says "open source" like backend account requirements, sperging about racism, and threatening to ban people who paid money for the software. Fuck you Garry.

The blog post regards only exporting games to steam, so i highly doubt the license agreement allows them to post it anywhere else. Even the main webpage just says:

Publishing

Coming soon: export and release your s&box games as standalone titles on Steam 🚀.

Completely free, no royalties, no strings. Your game, your name, your revenue 💼.
Not sure if its actually free since there is a $100 fee to publish games to steam.

Just more of a reason not to use the s&box engine.

Wonderful, it will be abused the fuck out of it. Garry Newman, you fucking britoid twat, what were you thinking on giving control to facepunch?

I rest my case. The troons must be delighted at that. I wonder why GMod will continue being a good game while Shit & box will go down.

First mod to be made for games with no text chat: adding text chat. And it's always better. This is another case of the dev just not wanting to be bother taking a stance on banning underage furry grooming and nigger-slingers.

Well, game should be out in about 6 hours. Sink or swim time.

I know it's been said before, but the $20 price tag will be the death of this game. Roblox is big because it's free and that means kids can get into it really really easily without having to pester mom for $20 on her credit card. They get hooked on skins or whatever the hell kids buy in Roblox and then they can pester mom for Roblox gift cards aka "roblox money". That and a $2.99 micro-transaction is a way easier sell for a kid to make over a full $20.

I'm foreseeing this to be like the paid mods for Skyrim fiasco of yesteryear. People are going to take pre-made content from GMod and port it over to s&box with a shit load of micro-transactions. Same thing that happened with Nexus mods being put up on the Workshop. GMod servers kind of had the same problem with people charging for roles and models and stuff that they ripped from some other server, but the lack of a unified payment system made it way less efficient at bilking money from kids. "Mom can I use your credit card to paypal this guy online so I can be mayor of darkRP?" vs using your steam wallet funds from bday giftcards on built in micro-transactions.

Roblox also has free servers, and from my understanding this is only P2P or dedicated servers that are self-hosted. Yeah, let me pay $20 for the game and then also host my own server when the free thing you're aping has free servers too.

Basically they're a bunch of idiots for wanting to get in on the Roblox thing, but not understanding why that model works. Game is gonna be DoA. If I'm a content creator for GMod or Roblox why would I jump ship and go to some entirely new game. GMod guys might move over, but the Roblox guys really have no incentive to move over. Their audience is already on Roblox and hell you can play that thing on your fucking ipad. I can't really see any Roblox creators jumping ship unless their monetization scheme is just super stellar compared to Roblox. Even then if the Roblox audience never moves over .5% (or whatever the cut for Roblox is) of a big number is still better than 20% (or whatever the s&box cut is) of a really small number.

I was optimistic at first but it has been essentially destroyed by the dumbfuck decisions that are a detriment to this game. What a shame. Only thing to look forward to now is Newman getting felted that it didn't sell as much as he thought it can and having to go back to the drawing board.

Oh yeah, sorry for the near double post, but the game's system requirements are nuts for what it is.

I guess they're trying to futureproof for bigger games and not have stuff like a high prop count kill your server, but this is another reason why little Timmy isn't going to be playing this game. Other people have complained in the thread already that the game runs poorly and I'm assuming they have above recommended specs. I guess they're just appealing to the GMod spergs who have 5080s and also play TTT all day everyday? Big crowd. Also no Intel integrated graphics, which is just . Did they get paid by AMD or something?
So basically no playing this game on your budget craptop or chromebook that mom bought on Black Friday. :ow:

For comparison you can run GMod on like any PC made in the last 15 years, although if you get on a crazy server with lots of props and effects you might have a rough time. Here's the system requirements for Windows:
1777352595873.png
And here's the system requirements for Roblox:
1777352687227.png
Yeah, not really specific, but it's hilarious that they actually say your cpu should be newer than 2005. Just to show that Roblox can basically be played on anything here's their mobile minimum specs:
1777352780898.png
Imagine actually playing Roblox on your fucking iPhone 6s. I don't even think the app store works on those anymore. To my knowledge the game runs pretty poorly on lower end Android devices, but if the kids like 5 or whatever they don't care, they just wanna tap buttons. Can't you even run the game in the browser?

So yeah, I don't know specifically if they're trying to get at the Roblox audience, it certainly seems they've taken a lot of their model, but they're not going to be stealing away the kids from Roblox with spec requirements like these.

A friend of mine is interested in the game because of the VR support, so we'll see how that turns out. TTT or something in VR would be pretty cool.

Flat fucking lie btw, I have an rx 6600xt and the game hardly keeps a stable 60 at the lowest settings, especially on sandbox modes. To be fair to it, I am running on Linux, so it ran through proton, but that's still not a whole lot of performance lost, especially enough to warrent having to drop to the absolute lowest settings. Looks like shit too because they went the dithered route for "optimization" so everything transparent ends up looking like a bunch of blurry dots.

but the $20 price tag will be the death of this game
I think the funniest thing is the license agreement with Valve. Literally gives developers no incentive to make their game for s&box and just export it, meaning people who buy the game to actually play games end up suffering because every good game is outside of s&box.

What's wrong with the license agreement with Valve?
As far as I'm aware, there's basically all the reasons to put your game on Steam, which is fine for Devs. It leaves the question for players: Why bother buying s&box? You can access games sure, but those are probably just demos of the steam versions. So why not just play the steam versions and cut out s&box?
