S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Stalker) Thread

Usually such big sized updates are done for like maybe big updates...ya know DLC areas or multiplayer stuff, not fixing 1k bugs
That's the size of the patches. Like I said it's unfinished slop. Even if the patches are just a few GB's bragging about fixing 1,000 bugs is really bad.

I am once again asking for Mod recomendations.
Freeplay stuff possibly.
Otherwise I may build another Call of Chernobyl abomination and keep you guys posted on the results.

Heard teamlite CoC is a quaint CoC fork, tho I'll probably just wait for OXR to fully release their CoC compability to play more of it, and if you also are up for some SoC mods, New Arsenal 7 will always be a personal recommendation, and I heard that OP OGSR and OGSR NS are actually kinda nice however I have yet to play them.

You got a link for new arsenal?
I found a version on moddb but cant seem to run it.
Also whats OXR?

Are there any Clear Sky overhauls you guys would recommend? I'm looking at replaying it and have only used SRP before.

Clear Sky overhauls
Sky Renewal 3.0 revamps visuals and leaves gameplay unchanged, SRP included if I recall, it's pretty cool, if you want something different than just the OG game, The Faction War mod might be up your alley, if you want a mindfuck, the Reborn trilogy is up your alley, and Cold Blood and HardWarMod which I haven't played but heard about.

Roadmap Q2 2025, roadmaps will be quarterly.
  • Beta mod SDK kit, first a closed beta for modders, then an open beta, mod.io and steam workshop integration
  • A-Life/AI update
  • Mutant loot
  • Shader compilation skip
  • Player stash window increase
  • Wide screen support
  • 2 new guns
  • Further improvements to game stability and performance, and bug fixes
  • Original trilogy next-gen update!
I apologise for not posting the image, currently uploading anything to the site is fucked for me and refuses to let me attach anything.

I just got the first stalker and an anon on 4chan told me to play with the hardest difficulty. But I die in 1 hit and my bullets never hit enemies/do no damage. Is this the stalker experience or should I lower the difficulty

I find myself playing on the hardest difficulty but don't feel forced to do that, it's alright to play on a lower one for your first run. Feel free to ask for advice.

To learn how the game plays yes, the way difficulty works is on the easier difficulties you and enemies take less damage, the hardest means both you and the enemies take full damage. At the start of the game you get the worst pistol in any FPS, poor accuracy, shit damage it's just shit, it's more a last resort than a weapon so it'll feel like you do no damage. When you get a better weapons is when you'll start dealing damage and feeling like it, there is a bandit camp you attack in the beginning with a group, pick up a shotgun from a bandit corpse and use that instead of the pistol. You'll find better gear later on but you'll have to deal with the early game weapons for the beginning.

and an anon on 4chan
On /v/ or on /vg/'s /sg/? Becuase on /sg/ it's common knowledge that the difficulty settings aren't actually tuned where you deal more damage on higher difficulty settings.

The whole myth of "disappearing bullets" doesn't stem from the difficulty settings since you actually deal more damage and you have more resistance on lower difficulties. Remember, this is X-Ray so you can verify it by just opening up .ltx files in Notepad.

No, the source of that myth stems from the fact that the hobo stage weapons, the PM and the sawn-off, have such awful bullet spread that you will miss enemies from point blank distance. Once you get to Garbage and you look an MP5 then you get something that resembles an accurate weapon, then at Agroprom you finally get an AK that is actually serviceable. This is a common misconception, but bumping the difficulty up won't make the game easier. The guns in SoC are just that bad, and you just have to suffer with it until you loot something decent.

Where can I buy/find ammo for the MP5 and AK I have all this cash but no place to buy supplies like ammo and armor

Other than that thanks to everyone for helping me :)

Past the Dump you can go to Rostok which should be your place to stay for a long time, it should have low to mid tier ammo, look for the 100 Rad Bar hard to miss, but you need to advance the main story to go there, I don't recommend killing duty stalkers.
