First thing I see when booting up the demaster is a "Made in Ukraine" watermark, I thought their offices were in the czech republic now? or do they really need to show those evil ruZZians whos boss?

It's probably because the original game was made in Ukraine. The enhanced versions were still made in Ukraine. The enhanced versions were done by some Polish developer.

I tried ZRP earlier and I would rather play the enhanced version of SoC. Vanilla stalker is rough. It looks mote like Complete mod which makes the original look way better. There is an updated version of Complete mod now that released a few months back. I tried it yesterday and it makes the game run like shit so I went back to old Complete.

While some shadow improvements have been done like for grass it doesn't justify how blurrier the game is with AIDS AA solutions.

I got maybe 12 hours of playtime into STALKER 2 and then just stopped. The last thing I did was get the artifact from the poppy field. Sadly I go through phases where I love playing vidya, then out of nowhere I completely stop for months at a time. I'm having some life style changes I'm going through right now and I hope they afford me the time and interest to finish the game. It's excellent.

You can still get the original games when you buy the enhanced editions, and they are the same price as the original games, so they are still available. This isn't like the GTA DE situation where Rockstar took the original games off the digital stores. It was a Polish developer that they outsourced the enhanced editions to.

I played for 16 hours. It's UE5 slop and runs like shit. Then you have the other issues like how the game is a downgrade of the original games. No shadows from the flashlight no NVG's no sniper scopes. They even fucked up the mutants. You can run into the most powerful mutants in the game by just wandering around. They used to save the really strong mutants for the later parts of the game. I also heard the content of the game really drops off towards the end. It's almost like the game is barely finished or something. /sarcasm

Yes that's what I was describing. They've been using ancient Xiph.Org codecs in an esoteric convention, where the video, left channel audio and right channel audio are all in separate containers scatter across the wasteland that is gamedata.db files, mixed in with remains of the hellscape that was the Oblivion Lost development. It's possible that the idiots that did the """remaster""" encoded the video in something else than Theora, which led to odd issues with X-Ray code running on top of Unreal. Or they've used a modern Theora encoder where they needed to use one from 2003 to avoid any issues. X-Ray is too finnicky for this type of shit.

Was playing STALKER SoC last night. I really like that game. I mean the original not the enhanced. Using Complete mod for the graphics and bug fixes. I tried using ZRP but vanilla stalker is just too damned rough. I would rather play the enhanced over vanilla. It's just really outdated looking. To think there was games like Far Cry 1 and 2 Crysis 1 around the same time. I know, just play Radiophobia.

The cutscenes in the enhanced editions look good. There are a lot of things the enhanced ports do well. But the things they don't just kind of negate that. I hope they get fixed even it's done by modders.

Decided to play through SoC YET AGAIN (150+ hours on steam, probably double that if we include standalone stuff) after seeing this Enhanced Edition dogshit. I'm using a Russian mod called Shadow of Chernobyl: Update, pretty cool. Really nice graphics, improved AI, changed level layout (but not too much, there aren't new maps, it just changes the existing maps.) Finished up Cordon and am moving to Garbage.

Something I noticed over the years of following GSC and their PR department, it seems like they have been basically left in the dark about everything, they are always really cagey about any and all information and take long swathes of time to get back to any question, if you're lucky enough to get it answered.
