Saints Row thread

Embracer Group should just buy the Saints Row IP and hire a dev team of people who genuinely cared about the first two games to make a reboot set in stilwater with one l
they already own it. volition became part of deep silver in 2013 (which also explains the EGS exclusivity, they were always whores for tim's money - see metro).

You base this off hardcore forum dwellers which is hardly "everyone".

Ubisoft as a company might not be able to handle their finances correctly, but the idea that people don't care or are not playing the games is laughably out of touch with people who buy and play video games as a whole.
I don't know from what fucking bizarro universe you jumped over, but the reception and nonexistent word of mount of ubisoft games should tell you enough what people think about their games, unless you think "everyone" is that majority that keeps talking about ubisoft games in total secret (ironically the "hardcore forum dwellers" are the ones more likely pick up any of those games since they are fans of those no matter how shit and/or remember they exist in the first place).

We're not going to buy it, but that hardly means the dumbed down masses are not going to buy it. It's honestly a crap shoot these days. I hope they don't, but we're talking about a world where GTA Online is still one of the most played games.
something something fuck huge IP from a studio with a proven track record, but I guess that's just coincidence...

There are enough normies out there who'll see Giancarlo Esposito's face on the cover of Far Cry 6 and go "WoAAHoAH! The Breaking Bad guy is in this?!?! Oh now I gots to check dis out" for them to license his image. Ubisoft games have significant normie audiences, and their games are good enough for the normies who are just taking their first steps out of just playing CoD and sports.
except sportsball- and codfags hardly play anything else. if they branch out their purchases are driven by 2 things: the ads they see and what their friends play - so most of the time they see marketing for a different game and start playing the different games their friends play (if it has multiplayer to begin with). people need to make up their mind if normies are sheep with the memory of a goldfish who impulsively pick up games or shrewd industry insiders who follow companies and anticipate releases of their favorite franchise.
how many of those normies do you think are still playing fc6? how many are picking it up now? how many of those you think bought legion, breakpoint or most ubisoft games that barely have any marketing to begin with?
so the question remains, how many normies do you think are gonna pick up a gta clone they never heard about, that has no celebrity appearance to piggyback on and looks like a chinese bootleg of gta (and in those you'd at least get attractive females)? it's only advantage (for now) is that there isn't anything big releasing around august, but otoh it's an epic exclusive.
by your own admission you see barely any organic hype, so what is it?

They're popular to shit on, but hell, they're the only major game company in Christendom I pay any mind to. You don't get stuff like Mario & Rabbids out of Activision or EA.
the also fully embraced NFTs, so there's that too.

You really do have a lot of retarded takes, but the simple fact is Ubisoft games sell in the millions, sometimes cracking 10's of millions. THAT should tell you that people actually buy and play their games.

Get off game forums and actually look at sales data and talk to actual people before you look like a bigger gamer culture retard. Ubisoft caters to the person who plays games but doesn't spend all their waking moments knee deep in gamer culture (aka the dreaded "normie"), which believe it or not is the vast majority of people who play games since they've gone mainstream.

If anyone didn't need anymore evidence that this game is going to flop, AMD is now going to start throwing free copies of the game with their GPUs.

Yeah, it's SJW cancer. It's all part of the cringe caravan.
You even said you have never played a Saints Row game in this thread. You are misinformed the devs have always been left leaning but I would not go as far as to call them woke.

That aside Saint's Row had two instalments that where wigger simulators and all the games after where just full of memes so bad it makes Borderlands seem like War and Fucking Peace. The cast was always diverse and from all over the place. I see no real change there bar the fact its a whole new crew.

Saint's Row looks bad because its full of zoomers, looks like Fortnite, the hud is an eyesore, the cars look like they handle like the ones from Agents of Mayhem, has bullet sponge foes and seems to be obessed with ripping off Just Cause.

Practically begging people to buy the new Saints Row game in the next three months is not the best strategy to make when we’ve seen what Cyberpunk 2077 and the GTA: Definitive Edition had to go through.

"Diversity" just means hiring a bunch of diverse r.etards who will work for nothing as long as they can inject their insane agenda into the game.
It’s the Life Is Strange approach mixed with StoneToss approach. Are they really making videos games or making Important Message Of The Day™?

Regarding Saints Row for newbies; it should be noted that right now at least, SR 1 and 2 are kind of lost media since they are for systems that are long out of production and the games OOP.

Saints Row 3 and 4 however, got reissued for Switch a couple of years ago and are still in print (though their prices have slightly dropped as far as now being sold for budget game prices).

At the time of their release, they were the only game in town for Switch open sandbox crime simulator games as GTA Trilogy wasn't even in the works at the time. So in a lot of ways the Switch versions resurrected interest in Saints Row (which had become something of a DOA franchise at that point after the SR4 spin-offs flopped) and helped rehab the reputation of SR3 and 4, since for a lot of people since it was their first real taste of the franchise.

Which is also why I find it insane that SR5 ISN'T going to be available on the Switch at launch. The new game wouldn't even exist if not for the Switch ports and given the fact that we are still never ever going to get GTA5 for the Switch, it makes it insane that the studio making the game won't consider a Switch release given that it would probably give them a lot more buys if only from people who desperately want a new open sandbox crime simulator and are willing to swallow a bunch of garbage SJW claptrap just to get it. Especially after Rockstar screwed up GTA's long awaited Nintendo debut.

Does seem odd when the game's coming out for the Xbox One and PS4, the Switch is within their technical level.

Then again, Rockstar never bothered to port GTA V when that game predated the Switch, so I guess sandbox devs don't like it much.

Half-Life 2 was bundled with AMD(ATi at the time) cards more than a year before it even launched(because of the delay). Plenty of new and popular games have been bundled with graphics cards in the past so that's not a sign of anything really.

Holy fuck its just straight up Saints Row 3 again, right down to the fucking animations and story progression being locked. What a fucking disaster, Saints Row 2 was clearly a fucking fluke, these are the dumbest devs on the planet. I don't normally hope for a dev team to go tits up but these losers really have it coming.

Make SAINTS ROW 2 : 2

Seriously how hard is that?
GTA clone to heart and tried to create its own identity and fucking failed
The sad part is it had its own identity by 2. An excellent crime game that followed the groundwork laid by San Andreas. These idiots had a golden goose, fucked its asshole in an attempt to get some fresh eggs, and now all it can do is rip bloody farts.
This does not look like Saints Row 3.
It does though, same animations and everything. It's just slower and lacks the glitzy cartoon art style.

Was Saints Row the Third that disliked? If so, why?
It was a dumbed down sequel, missing content, customization features, and has one of the worst open world cities ever designed for these kinds of games. Steelport is awful.

The story was significantly worse, the humor was purely dick and ball jokes, and the raw gameplay was repetitive and boring.

I didn't like how they just abandoned several Saints Row 2 plot threads.

I liked IV. It felt like a parody of superhero games.
Yeah but compared to the other Saints Rows it felt more out of place than Gat to Hell. At least Gat to Hell got some good cameos in.

Saints Row 3 honestly feels like a game that tries very hard to forget its roots. I mean, aside from the fact that it's a new setting, the only returning characters are Gat, Shaundi and Pierce, and Gat is killed off almost immediately, Shaundi's characterization and design is so warped she's practically a new character entirely and Pierce...well, he suddenly has good taste in music.

I remember when I first played, I thought it was weird that the helicopter pilot involved in the bank heist was some random Saint and not Tobias.

I'll give you this: SR3 has spotty writing. Their characters didn't fell as memorable as the original crew. I felt 2 has the same issue.

A big thing with Saints Row 2 that I seem to recall was fans being like "Oh, it's fun unlike dour and serious GTA IV!"

And a part of me wonders if that's why they went full pants on head retarded with Saints Row 3 and 4 because they thought that's what people wanted when really all they meant was that there were more fun things to do in the world.
