Bold of you to think they have spent that longass time "tweaking the game" rather than making DLC shit ala SR3/4
You assume this unoptimized garbage can run on a switch.

True. I booted up the 2nd one on Xbox during downtime and it still chugs hard on the boat escape at the beginning

Why? They have far better alternatives like Saints Row 3 & 4, even the GTA Trilogy has the benefit of being three great games underneath the weird graphics, poor performance, and glitches. This "Saints Row" has all three of those things, but none of the quality inherent to the three GTA titles.

My friend is a massive consoomer and bought this shit so out of morbid curiosity I played through about half of the main campaign missions and here are my thoughts.
Graphics and performance
Actually not too bad performance wise. I didn't see to many stutters and even on base console it ran at around 45 most of them time except when it dipped into the high 20s during the extremely overdone weather effects. Pop in however is absolutely insane, it's possibly the worst pop in I've seen since vanilla Fallout New Vegas. It's egregiously bad on foot but when you're driving you will regularly see giant ass mountains and skyscrapers just showing up out of the blue when you get within five feet of them it's fucking worse than Cyberpunk on PS4. I also crashed twice, once during the escort mission with the codex artifact thingy and once in the big Idols fight with le waffle iron dj man. (more on him later)
Graphically this game is butt fucking ugly, It kinds of reminds me of Rage 2 in that it's mostly barren brown desert with bright purple and yellow neon everywhere. This game wasn't made in the Frostbite engine but has the same issue those games do where characters are absurdly shiny and their skin has that weird rubber/wax look. Even if it didn't though the character models are hideous. They all have massively exaggerated eyes, weird flappy mouths, and nigger lips. Weirdly the getaway chick is the only major character in the game with realistic toned down proportions, so much so she looks like she belongs in another game and looks weirdly out of place next to the other characters. Also it looks like they did not bother making a separate female body model since all of the female characters have massive hands, shoulders, and torsos, I think they just made a male body and slightly scaled it down for female characters.
Gameplay
Gunplay is shit, guns have no recoil whatsoever and bullets drop off at about 50 feet so medium to long range firefights are essentially impossible. Also as Synthetic Man said in his review the ability where you shove a grenade in someone's pants and throw them for an insta kill is absurdly overpowered. It even insta kills shielded/armored enemies and much to my shock even some mini bosses aren't immune to it. Also when you do finisher animations including this one you're immune to all damage so honestly the most efficient way to win fights is to ignore guns, run into melee range and just chain this move over and over again. Driving feels awful and the physics are nuts. Any slight bump to another vehicle will send it flying 200 feet in the air. Also despite being criminals you can't rob stores, most non enemy ncps are immune to damage and the mechanic where you can stick up generic npcs from the previous games has been removed completely. Side missions are allegedly complete ass and even worse than Ubisoft map markers but I can't verify this as I only did the main missions and some side missions required to unlock main missions.
Story and characters
To no one's surprise the cast blows although weirdly Eli the black nerd character is the most tolerable of the main cast members which is not something I expected when I booted up the game. He's a generic Community nerd stereotype and as the straight man doesn't do a lot of the whacky monkycheese random humor the other characters fucking do constantly. Le waffle man is flaming gay and brings it up constantly. You know how Roman always calls you and asks you to go bowling? He does that but instead asks you if you know any cute guys. Interestingly if your boss is male he hits on you and how can actually turn him down which is not something I expected given the dev team. Mechanic chick is emo and mopey and honestly the most boring out of all the characters, I completely forgot what her affinity mission even was like fifteen minutes after completing it.
Also weirdly despite the characters constantly talking about about bringing down capitalism you can't actually kill any capitalists. 99.9% of all enemies you kill in this game are rival anarchist gang members and even the main antagonist is a generic Mexican Cartel leader guy. I guess you can technically make the argument that cartels are ancaps but whatever, Also your character spends a significant amount of the game working for a Blackwater esq mercenary organization called Marshall and your lefty roommates literally never bring it up except to call you a wage slave and tease you for having a job.
I'd sperg more about how fucking unfunny this game is but I this post is already too long so I'll just say I did not smile once while playing this, it's shit. Do not buy this game no matter how bored you are.

If you didn't find any info there's that one store near the church. You can sneak in through the back and pick the safe and walk right out pretty easy. It's how I got quick money early on.

I actually enjoyed the new Saints Row and had a blast playing it.
It's not the best game I've ever played and not the best game in the series; but I had a good time playing it. Me and my buddy played through it and didn't take it seriously at all; I wore the ice cream suit for the entire playthrough and just dicked around the entire time.
They let you ride on the roof of cars, they let you wingsuit very easily, the grenade takedown thing is the first skill you get and really fun for me, and they let you take construction vehicles and ice cream trucks into the garage to customize.
It's not a perfect game but a lot of the things you can do just makes it feel like the devs wanted you to have FUN; which is something I think is totally lacking in modern video games. The story sucks but the gameplay is fun.

At first I was just doing Demolition Derby LVL8 over and over until I had enough and found out that if you do the Westside Rollerz Hijacking activity, at LVL7 your target is a Titan. It rarely spawns in the traffic so it's best to get it this way. After you get into it, you drive to Forgive & Forget, cancel the activity and bring the truck to your garage. After it's saved, stock up on grenades and go to the Rim Jobs store on the east side of the docks, right next to it is a big empty lot with truck trailers. What you then do is retrieve the Titan from Rim Jobs, drive it out to that lot and blow it up. It throws out a few K and gives you 1 star wanted level, but the police can't spawn at the lot and you can peacefully grab the cash and wait for the wanted level to die down. After that you run back to Rim Jobs, pay just 500$ to get the Titan restored and repeat the process for easy cash. I also found out that if you mash your sprint button you can run for longer than if you held it down.

As sad as it is, from what I've seen VTubers are one of the few that are willing to go the extra distance to trash shit that deserves it. A lot of the basic youtubers shill like no tomorrow, but for whatever reason VTubers don't feel that need to.
Honestly not sure why this is the case. You'd think the agencies that cover them would make them be nicer, but for whatever reason that's not how it's played out.

And at least Hunt Down the Freeman will always be an unironic masterpiece. Saints Row 2022 isn't even close to it. Not even by a long shot.

saints row 2 has the best pedestrian AI in any video game and I will die on this hill
I've always loved its AI. The dev team knew exactly what they were doing. Compare that to the shitty 2022 nuboot and what do you have? Simple, something dull and lifeless.

Hunt Down the Freeman unironically looks and more importantly plays better than this game. And that is a low fucking bar.

I remember seeing somewhere that the ped interactions was one of the things that they were able to achieve on the newer engine of Saints Row 2.
Some people might look at this and be like "Big deal, they're just cuddling.. I don't see the point.." and they're right, there is no point. In Saints Row 1 if the peds got this close, they'd both fly off in different directions. GTA doesn't have peds cuddling like this, you get two of them this close and they'll likely just start beating each other.
But that's the thing that makes this special, it's the small little touches like this that make the game more believable and enjoyable.

I'm replaying SR2 now. Multiplayer is dead. But, the world is more varied than this reboot.
