Saints Row thread

What I want to know is how many (if any) any times does someone say Nigga? I tried to remember any instance in a Saints Row game where someone said Nigga or Nigger and I could only remember the Vice KIngs saying it. (cuz the main members were black) I know the reboot is trying to not offend as many people as possible and they're no longer gangsta, but someone has to say it at least once.

During my time with Saints Row 1 on the emu, I've heard it said by a bystander NPC commenting on Playa's reckless driving. Can't tell if it was "nigga" or "nigger".

even God doesn't want you to play such shit
that's not funny... maybe a little bit.
alas i don't want to upgrade my parts yet, i'm waiting for DDR5 ram sticks and other shit, i can run woke row on a gt710 but it runs at 7fps, curiously enough running it on my old GPU which was a 1030 i had 60fps no problems most of the time, it literally felt like playing the remastered edition.
time to install SR2 + gentlemen of the row then...
Ohh boy....

I don't hate this game, but I wouldn't rate it very highly
the problem with this saints row is not gameplay in itself, sure you can pick the revolver for a 2tap headshot but when you compare it to the other games it's clear a mishmash gameplaywise, storywise it's utter shit, even the boss throwing a fit on the beginning is shit, i just hope someone adds a sitcom laughing track mod to this game.
for a newcomer it's probably a 6/10, for a old fan of the series it's a 1/10 being optimistic, since you can't regenerate health on your own or even eating something it's really fucking annoying...

So, The Embracer Group has been snapping up IPs left and right. This is the Group's first significant release ever since they hit the news. This game is exactly what the Lord of the Rings and Deus Ex game will look like under the approval of The Embracer Group.

Imagine chasing the best GPU you can buy just so you could play games by this group when their first game is Saints Row, 2022.

What the group does with Volition after this release will reveal the intentions of the group. Seeing this game, I prefer dissolution.

Neenah's car is a memento from her mother who died of cancer. She gets sad brained and angry when someone destroys it, but had no problem risking it in gunfights and stunts beforehand.

Lmaoooooo
I think she should count her blessings that she wasn't shot & left to drown in it, fell out of a building & crashed on it, locked into the trunk during a sick monster truck rally, or chained to it & getting dragged to death. Sure, it's relatively sad, but better Saints Row characters had far worse experiences with cars (and of course, none of that would happen in a game as toothless as this bullshit).

During the down time, I had something of an epiphany when it came to continuity reboots. I think it would've been a far better idea to give this reboot a subtitle like "Saints Row: Santo Illeso Chronicles" or "Saints Row: We're Out Of Touch" instead of just calling it Saints Row. By calling it that, it taints the whole series (and sadly overshadows the original game) just like Sonic 06 did for its series, but the damage could've been relatively contained if it was called its own thing.

Also, I've noticed that very few copies of the game were sold on PS4 & PS5 at my local Walmart (the Xbox versions seemed to be doing a little better, but it could also be that fewer copies of that were ordered). Does anyone have any official word on sales numbers yet beyond the "preorder numbers being good"?

As far as I can tell Embracer is fairly hands off and just lets their inner branches sort of do whatever. The Destroy All Humans 2 remake, which also came from Embracer not too long ago, seems to be a faithful and well made remake.

everything hints that embracer gives them some creative freedom, the problem was hiring retards that hate the older games and giving them freedom to fuck it up, embracer has so much studios under them to care about micromanaging shit, volition is getting laid off greatly or dissolved.

Not a mod, but enjoy
I genuinely do not know whether to laugh or cry at that. The RIP stinger makes me lean toward "cry" though.
to quote a great man: "It just werks"

Seriously, THQ Nordic & Deep Silver are under the same umbrella? How can there be such a gulf of quality between the two games?

Well see about that; from what I've read, Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed comes out very soon. Meanwhile, there are news articles linking the release of Saints Row (2022) to The Embracer Group dropping its share price.

Unless the group doesn't care much about stock price, there will be consequences.

Some stuff from during the downtime:

Vtuber rabbit mocks Saints Row dev:

She also did a full stream just watching videos about the game and mocking it. Cringes at multiple parts including Shirtless Guy’s waffle tattoos, “I need to pay my student loans”, the happy meal toy thing, ect.

Also, new form of meme.

Those consequences better fall squarely on Volition's shoulders, none of the other studios should have to suffer for their fuck up here.

This wasn't a case of "too many cooks in the kitchen" like with Avengers, this game was all on Volition, no one else can be blamed.

because one doesn't put their finger on the other's pie.

they did tank some stock, they are probably waiting for this quarter's closure to see if the earnings paid it + timmy tencent's money.

(and sadly overshadows the original game)
To the point where I was trying to find info on how to get easy cash in Saints Row (2006) I was getting results of the shitty 2022 reboot. It stains all the search results, similarly to how when nuNokia announced the "3310" the results would get flooded with the modern chinesium model instead of the OG Finnish engineering masterpiece from 2000.

This is true, and would probably a better way to foster relations with older fans while trying to bring in new blood. It's the smarter, safer choice. But that's kind of the crux isn't it? It seems like the new writers/design heads want this to be what Saint's Row is now, and either hate or dismiss the older games like they're diseased. So they made this game with a disdain for the majority of their potential customers, fans of the Saint's Row brand, while failing to create a product that actually appeals to most other people.

It's maddening, really. People talk about clownworld, and to me, this is it: a game company that makes a game for nobody but themselves, possibly sinking a franchise alongside their own struggling studio, in an effort to show how their "above" the previous entries and its fans. Yet, I have no doubt the leads will flee the sinking ship into influential positions at other studios, while the ground-level code-monkeys would be the ones getting laid off by next Christmas (assuming they stick around for the inevitable 3-DLC, GOTY edition, Steam release).
