RDR2 was really obnoxious with the woke shit and I don't get why it gets a pass.
I'm playing through RDR2 now and honestly I haven't found it that excessive. There's a few things I've noticed like they make the 'racism BAAAD' thing pretty blatant. Yet also are fine with Arthur being a shitheel to women's rights people and generally being a fuckface a lot of the time.

Yet also they only let Lenny drop the hard R despite you fighting an ex-confederate militia repeatedly and there's the inexplicable KKK random spawns where they act like retards.

Won't go any further since this is SR but comparing the two its night and day.

That kind of stuff isn't what I would consider woke. That's just par for the course shit that's been in Vidya forever. I consider something woke when it is exceptionally blatant like this trash game. I think there is a fine line between normie "racism bad" and woke "racism bad". One is, "Maybe Black people aren't so bad and should be treated like everyone else." The other is, "Let's get on our knees and suck nigger dick." And this is coming from me. Check out my post history to see how I feel about Black people. Normies just make a logical assumption about a situation that isn't logical. Woketards make irrational ultimatums.

The woke shit is sparse and the rest of the story is pretty good.
The most blatant wokeshit is you getting paid by a dude to drive some suffragettes around town because his girl is one of them and he's just got to put up with some of that bullshit if he wants to keep courting her. Said woman later robs her family blind of all its fancy jewelry so she can run off to Boston with him.

There's also a couple annoying suffragettes you can beat the shit out of and some absolutely retarded KKK members right out of a Mel Brooks movie you can save from accidentally setting themselves on fire by shooting them in the face.

(That girl's family totally deserved it though, not joking. Besides, you end up doing far, far worse to them during the main story. Goddamn Braithwaites...)

The Sadier Addler GRRRL power shit was what annoyed me most, coupled with stuff like the annoying eugenicists and the game felatting the "one with nature" native american shit.

Considering the first meeting of the new crew contains the phrases “wage slave”, “anti-capitalist”, “morally-bankrupt business”, ect, I can’t blame people for calling the game woke.

Also, that one scene of the player character randomly cussing over and over again because they get slightly chewed out by their new boss? Each voice has a different set of curing. The country voices ones are just over-the top in the sterotype. I think the male one just keeps saying different variations of “horse balls”.

I feel you, but then again that shit is almost a staple of the Western genre at this point.

Ohh boy....

I don't hate this game, but I wouldn't rate it very highly, maybe a 6/10. And that's not to say it isn't a buggy fucking mess, I'm not including that in my rating. I'm personally avoiding a mission (into the breech something like that, it's the last larp mission) because it without fail crashed my ps5.
I'm not completely in love with this game, the story, or the characters, but honestly SR went off the fucking deep end with 3 and 4, this reins it back in to the tone of 1 and 2. Despite of its general low quality, it's still a bit of fun but there are some real interesting choices;
The whole wingsuit thing is... really an odd choice, I think it was meant to be apart of the larp storyline because that's where it gets brought up first and that bit of "fantasy" makes the most sense there. There is a ton of customization in the cars, but only a hand full of models, I guess they were thinking the game engine would randomize more but it just doesn't. It's very old school in the driving a specific car essentially makes it and all similar cars spawn endlessly. There really are many guns either and the combat is also old hat.

I'll leave it with this. I like the game, it's no masterpiece but really with R* whoring their games into the mtx online variants which just shits on them and where the games came from, and with SR3 and SR4 being absolutely ridiculous affairs far removed from SR1 and SR2 and the fact they needed to recycle characters from superior SR games just to engage their audience; I think I get what SR22 is.

Someone at Violition had the idea to remaster SR1 but instead of doing that they actually just made a new modern SR1. I don't think this game was ever meant to be a sequel that improves on everything, I think it's meant for people who like the tone and the OG SR games, but they didn't want to be complete lazy shits and remaster/remake. Because that didn't work out for R*. It's meant to feel old because the project started with the first game as the main inspiration. The characters are trying to capture the lightning in the bottle that is the original cast.

Just my thoughts. It really is a buggy POS though, which is the worst part. I really hope they patch this crap out, I know there was a Day 1 patch, so I can't imagine what actually shipped and got to the reviewers.

but if the game is good and the game's story is good who cares? yea the writer has a perspective you disagree with but Houser aint a hack like the lady who wrote this is
This. For every eyeroll in RDR2 there were another ten genuinely good moments that made an impression on me. I still think the finale of the game is one of the best in gaming history. Playing as a sick and dying Arthur on his last legs and doing what you can so that John and his family survive felt right out of a classic western. That moment when Arthur is on his last legs, crawling toward his gun while Micah is insulting him and saying he's lost, when actually Arthur is moments away from winning is just great. It's a very bittersweet feeling because Arthur knows, and we know, if not for Dutch's intervention we would've had the bastard. Say what you will but that is good writing. Now, let's keep shitting on Saints Row.

Sadier Addler
Is considered overeager in her willingness to harm people by Arthur Morgan, a man wanted in multiple states for many, many acts of crime that are sadly not elaborated upon. She's blatantly overcompensating for being a woman with ruthlessness and an open desire for beating the shit out of anyone who annoys her, and comes across exactly as borderline psychopath as you imagine with the sheer glee she has in bashing in noses with pistol grips and rifle buttstocks, as well as a desire to kill as many O'Driscolls as she can.

There's a mission where you leave her alone for an hour and when you come back Arthur needs to rescue her from her poor life choices, and directly calls her out on her complete inability to behave for even such a limited time.

Really, there's nothing GRRRLL PWR about her considering she comes off as a hyper-violent bitch who can barely be trusted to be left alone.

Predictable doesn't always mean bad. I mean, who would've predicted the totally retarded story of this travesty? I didn't.
True, you can tell a story well even if you know how it'll end. But I don't personally think RDR2 was good enough to overcome that hurdle. There were good ideas in there and I liked a few of the characters, but I played RDR1 so the whole situation with Arthur sacrificing himself for the Marstons had no emotional resonance, because I know how that story ended and fuck if it didn't make the whole thing even more depressing.

I would have given anything for a stand alone story in RDR2 versus what they tried to do, which was pull a The Last of Us style 'serious sad cinematic' thing.

I dunno. Serious, sad, and cinematic felt very natural for a Western. RDR2 felt very derivative of western flicks—even more so than the first, right down to the last quarter of the game feeling almost like I was watching Shane. But I digress. With all that said, I think it'd be interesting to see an alternate universe where after Saints Row 2 the games got more serious instead of increasingly wacky. SR2 had some pretty serious and dramatic moments, like the final confrontation with Julius which is played almost completely straight to the point of being jarring.

I liked the death of Gat's girlfriend and what they did to Carlos, but I think it's clear at this point that SR2 only happened via accident.

Anything there is to be said had already been said.
Dogshit game.
Cyberpunk 2077 tier bugs.
Optimization? What optimization? We don't care that you can run RDR2 on high settings in 60fps, go play our queer-inclusive friendly humorous adventure and listen to main character screaming about horse balls for five minutes straight after his boss tells him that he's a stupid nigger with constant freezes and 20fps.

My beautiful disabled trans-nigger character, they have no legs, no arms, giant breasts, giant cock and muscular body so they can bash the fash!

Yet any physical training gives them severe dysphoria, so to keep themselves in shape they partake in activities such as above-watter-swimming

Unlike in CyberPunk, you can't eveen move into the unloaded textures, leading to any car chases becoming... just plain retarded.

Can I just say that I am immensely horrified on every level that somehow Volition made a game that is worse than Cyberpunk 2077 is literally every way? For all of the well-deserved shit CP2077 gets it at least has interesting characters you interact with.

"Unable to Start Game, make sure your fucked up launcher permissions are set to whatever dick sucking moronic shit we decided on."

And a REAL annoyance is how big the blocking is on objects.

What's that? You're looking over something and wanting to shoot someone? LOL Nice fucking wish. You get to waste your ammo on the blockage that only comes up to your knees! What's that, you want to shoot at the ENTIRE LOWER HALF of the enemy visible under the sign? LMAO. Nope, because the hit box for the sign extends that far, oh, and it's indestructable.

FIX YOUR FUCKING GAME, YOU FUCKS!

And man, I just come to hate the main three 'helpers' more and more.

Eli wouldn't even be worth making into a prison bitch. He's so fucking uptight you could sharpen a pencil in his asshole, and it's not even played for laughs or even slightly amusing.

And fucking Shirtless Bob over there. Fuck, I hate him. I hate him so much.

And Neena deserves to be sold at the Libyan Slave Market.
If they try to fix the technical side I would be shocked since these people have their head 24/7 up their ass, say what you abut CDPR but fromi am seeing they look like they are fixing/trying to fix 2077

Okay which one of you was this?

Joking aside I actually had fun with a good bunch of activities and side missions, I just hated having to go back to the story to get access to more and the later ones are worse so you get punished twice. Honestly that heist shit is an insult. Had the game allowed me to let the bad guy keep the main characters that would've helped a lot, he even got shirtless dude to wear a shirt making him just dude and also 1000% less annoying.
Game rises to the lofty heights of mediocrity, maybe just a tad above it depending on how much you like doing side shit and exploration but it comes crashing down with the story, the bugs, the shit gun play, the weird vehicle combat where depending on how the game feels your ramming will do damage like that horse cock did to Mister Hands or a Patrick Tomlinson propelled paint filled balloon does to a modern Russian main battle tank.
Also come the fuck on, if you got a store called "everything is a million dollars" make everything cost a fucking million dollars you ruined your own joke.
I might go back and finish some of the side shit and collectable but I need to play something good for a change, at least the game was mercifully short even with all the padding and me doing more fucking around than playing story.
