Yeah, I think we all need to apologize to that game. It tried to be different, but still recognized that it was a mature-focused open world game. I have always thought of Saints Row the Third as a pimp game.

That's the irony, Agents of Mayhem was a flop, so instead of changing course, they double down on it?
From what I remember Agents of Mayhem at least had the one female character with a nice figure, which we can't even get here.

I like all the Myspace core on GenX and The Faction...not to mention Kboom, what an underrated station that is, Funny as hell.

Reminds me: Saints Row the Third (and I think 2) had an Adult Swim themed radio station. Maybe I should give it a listen. Adult Swim bumps had great music.

I've always really liked The Third and have never understood why it doesn't have a better reputation.

It shifted the balance too far "goofy" with all the laser guns and Japanese gameshows. The boss also went from mostly serious gang leader psychopath to goofy jokey cartoon.

The second game was the one with the Alaskan looking gang leader with the monster truck and to get revenge on him they stuffed his girlfriend in the trunk and he accidently crushes her during a show.

Fans of SR didn't like the Third because it deviated from the gangsta roots from 1 and 2. I may be biased as I started Saints Row with 3, but I enjoyed the wacky take on GTA. Streaking in public, insurance fraud, weapon customization, RPG mechanics, zany out of this world weaponry, dildo bat. It was a game that recognized it was a game. But not for children.

As someone that started with the first game (but never finished it) The Third doubling down on the wacky humor seemed like a natural evolution to me, I dug it but I guess not everyone did.
Another thing is that The Third simply had much higher production values than 2.

2. Because of the somewhat gangster-Mexican theme, I expect them to make the soundtrack as unoriginal as possible. I am no Mexican but even I can hear good shit from:
