The big network that picked the show up probably got their lawyer's involved and they realized there's a problem with the name. It's a sign they're at least ready to move to the next step of finally releasing the damn show after all this time.

If they wanted the WP1 aesthetic they'll just blur out any references of World Peace and cover it with a black bar of text or something.

Truthfully they could be in a lot of legal trouble for even filming a sequel to a series they don't own the rights to. Not sure exactly how it works but I've heard it happening before.

It just seems so short sighted to me. You can't make a decision like that and hope that lawyers will fix it later. Why even waste the money and effort on a name that isn't worth all that much anyway? It's not like they are fighting for an internationally recognized brand or something. They should have just planned to use a different name from the start.

I hope for their sake that's all that needs to be done. Imagine if the name is used in dialogue and they have to dub over it at the last minute.

Yeah, exactly. Not worth it at all in my opinion. Honestly my first thought when this project was announced was "How did they manage to get the rights from Adult Swim?". It just seems insane to go about it like this when it's clear from what Sam and Nick have said that MDE parted ways with Adult Swim on hostile terms. They should have used a different name and used vaguer language like "spiritual successor" rather than just blatantly calling it World Peace season 2.

It’s good that they’re stepping over it. The people and content are what matters, a name is just the bow tie and wrapping. Great news, looking forward to it.

So Sam and Co. worked on the show's graphics already thinking that buying the rights from Adult Swim was going to be easy, up until now?

They didn't think they needed to buy the rights for some reason. Sam was pretty confident that WP2 was fair game. Recently they found out AS wasn't allowing them to use the name so they tried to buy the rights and AS denied them.

There's already a ton of animations using the title so it would be a little more difficult. The artist hand draws a lot of them and has been working on it for two years.

Of course everyone in this thread was complaining that the WP2 graphics suck and aren't as good as the original World Peace ones even though it's the same exact artist and they've only ever seen rough sketches.

Also apparently the artist is Sam Hyde's Asian baby momma but that's never been confirmed. I think it's true though.

This makes no sense. The first thing I thought would've been done after getting all the cast to commit to a season 2 would be to make sure you can do the damn thing due to legal issues.
