Is there any sane explanation for why he's wrapped up in what appears to be duct tape? It can't be that difficult to obtain a more traditional mannequin.

As a costumer I can actually answer that! It is known as a duct-tape-dummy (that is the actual term, and run with that as you will, folks). It is a cheap and fast way to make a hyper-accurate sewing mannequin (Insert horrifying rating here) instead of having to pad out a storebought dummy with foam. The only thing I could think is, oh my god what is he going to make that it has to be that accurate? This explanation is probably the only 'sane' part of it.

The most awful part for me is that it's actually decently accurate to the character's appearance, but as others have said, this is a cosplay that should never happen. Ever.
