SCP Foundation - Creepypasta with roid rage - now ITT: SCP fans

So another rewrite of Harmony's articles got posted.

And as usual staff automatically shuts down any dissenting discussion.

On mobile, so can't archive.

It’s like they don’t know how bad clamping down on dissent looks like from the outside looking in.

Did anyone archive this shit? I want to read the full exposè.

If you’re in this thread then you have probably seen most of it but most people are scared to even look here so the information has to come out somehow

“you are not allowed to criticize us in public. Do that in private to someone on staff who will disagree with you.”

So raising a controversial point is now punishable because it’s inflammatory? Does a user’s ability to criticize the staff on-site limit itself to it being ok as long as it doesn’t “cause issues”? Issues for whom? Staff? Well then. This is the state of discourse on the wiki? What a contortion.

Shutting down dissent in the comments is not for the sake of the site rules. It’s to fracture the dissent, to keep it from building. But the Streisand Effect is a hell of an unintended consequence. People with weak positions fall for it every time. In other words, they don’t have a high confidence that continuing the discussion will go their way. Notice that mr_stickman never mentioned CC. Great job fielding that one, faithful koolaid drinker. This was a moral point. Staff clearly don’t recognize them when they show up.

Throw up a link to the Site Rules as if they mean anything next to how the soft, drooping spines that run SCP will point in any next direction to avoid standing up straight. By virtue of this article, they don’t abide by their own rules and drop them whenever doing so prevents them from getting even a whiff of the hypocrisy they’re brain-deep in. Staff already demonstrated their own ability to disrespect the same Site Rules that they’re now trying to appeal in authority to, and stickman is calling you out on it. The dude’s point still stands. (Just cast Last Word Syndrome.)

Staff, you are making yourselves look ridiculous again. I love every second if it. You want to know why you are afraid of this forum? Why you are some of our most closeted but faithful readers? Why you just lie that we are evil nazi alt-righters and ban anyone who you know has been here? It’s because we continue the discussions that you shut down.

I'd honestly have way more respect for staff in this situation if they straight-up told Harmony "We ain't deleting shit, fuck off" and kept their articles up. Sure it would've scummy, but at least it would make them honest with their intentions and they would legally have every right to do it.

But no, they don't want to deal with the potential fallout from their userbase if they did that nor the work required to purge such a prolific author from the site. So they act like disingenuous shits and perform a bunch of mental gymnastics so they can say that they aren't violating an author's rights when they've made such a big deal over them in the past.

I like how even in the thread for bootleg 031, when they’re reaching for every possible justification for stealing my intellectual property, they hardly even mention their sham vote. Do you think they’re ashamed of it, or something else?
I think they’ve lost track of all the things they should be ashamed of.

I went to archive this, but someone did it for me. Thanks, whoever you are. Now we don't have to worry about this blatant example of staff's cowardice and hypocrisy being lost should Clef self-delete or something. Also, Stickman is about to be banned for malicious downvoting. One wonders if they actually think his downvote was malicious, or if they're mad that he's calling them out publicly.

This is where we see the true face of staff. They pretended to care about community opinions when Harmony's request first landed on their doorstep, but now that the vote (which was blatantly stacked against the policy they didn't like) has been passed, continuing to criticize them or their decisions is no longer acceptable. Dissenting opinions are getting shut down for obviously bullshit reasons, and staff are abusing their power to always get the last word in. Don't like it? Feel free to complain to staff in private, your complaints will definitely be heard and not trashed immediately!

SCP community members who lurk this thread, I sometimes see you wonder why people keep coming to this forum to discuss issues with the community despite it being an alleged Nazi hate website, so I'll let you in on a little secret: people come here because staff relentlessly shuts down discussion everywhere they can, and people who have opinions that others don't like are driven out of the community. This is the best place to complain because you have made it so.

Not only that, but KiwiFarms only became the place to go drip damaging information out because it was where staff was paying attention and following religiously.

To those same dispirited lurkers, you aren’t alone. I have had tons of people, a few of whom are on staff or ex-staff, reach out to say that while they disagree with x or y tactic that they sympathize with the situation the rest of staff put me in and support me all the way. Your continued support is the only thing keeping me going on this path some days. Thank you.

The outnumbered but supposedly senior staff hide in their secret chats and they alternate between fretting over the latest crisis or projecting false bravado that turns to anger whenever someone dares to cross the party line. Sad!

I see that "malicious downvoting" has become one of their go to excuses to ban people they don't like.

Seriously, it seems pointless that they made a O5 thread on Stickman considering they were going to ban them regardless since they hurt staff's ego.

“Malicious downvoting” and “unproductive discussions” are both perfect examples of the stafftalk doublespeak dialect that evolved on 05. If we have any linguists in the party, this could be a field day for them.

didn't you say anyone could rewrite anything you wrote before you transitioned without consulting you or considering your intent?

I did, but that was immediately before staff violated the CC-by-SA 3.0 licensing. Their error was in never following through on my request for attribution removal.

After taking this action which voided the licensing they then cherry-picking my voluminous words while they held their sham vote so that they could punt on taking responsibility, as we all know.

Removing the manual attribution from their chat bot was insufficient. It has to be complete attribution removal, not half-assed. I mean, they didn’t do basic stuff like remove the attribution list on my author page, and they most importantly don’t have the power to remove page history so the only way to remove attribution fully and to have been license-compliant would have been to delete and repost everything so that no trace was left.

They failed in fully removing my attribution when it was requested of them, so they’ve voided their legal right to host my stories.

The fuse is running short. They're starting to notice. It's only a matter of time before this mess is leaked to the public. Bit by bit the SCP userbase is starting to realize that something fucky's going on beneath the cover. Harmony. the debacle you created both on Twitter and by deleting your articles may be the turning point, where the Inner Circle's lucky streak may begin to elude them. It's going to be glorious. Can't wait for the eventual cancellations when previous staff-backers wanna switch sides to save their asses from public scrutiny. Looking at Rounder, Woed, Kaktus, etc. You know they'll make the switch, they're just waiting for the spark to fly.

The Yurt triumvirate is in too deep, they’ve already revealed themselves to be staff bootlickers. I imagine that if anyone sticks around to the bitter end it’ll be them. After all, if the staff aren’t there to do the work keeping the machine running, who would #upvotedjkaktus?

So another user brought up the problematic circumstances of the SCP-031 rewrite, and staff yet again shut it down.

Cant help but wonder how many of the people who downvoted the rewrite did so because of this and simply don't say so for fear of getting banned.

:optimistic:

But then again...

The article is ratio’d: ~20 upvotes and ~40 comments. Clef capitulated and modified the page. Where’s that legendary authorial conviction? Why here, now? Ah. He is desperately trying to patchwork the attempt, and posted a sniveling comment how his frantic re-rewrite to hedge against negative reception is a normal thing for him to do.

As promised two months ago by us, staff is trying to short-circuit all discussion or responsibility on the circumstances by referring to the community’s vote, which was purse-strung. Look for a ban for Noktigo, then for others who don’t care and are willing to voice their beliefs even if it means a ban.

Lots of bans for legitimate contention going on. Does Summer 2018 still ring a bell when you have your ears so thoroughly plugged, staff?
