Yep. Joined under a pseudonym as an experiment to see if I could get works posted to the site, and it worked. For a bit. I ended up getting banned obviously, but I could've easily been in there for a lot longer if I wasn't retarded.
The saddest part is they obviously have people combing through the user lists on the site because they're paranoid as fuck that some meanie kiwi member is going to screw with their glorified forum. How did they even connect your two accounts? Same IP?

I basically gave myself away. I accidentally gave away too much of my wiki knowledge, and a few people in SCPD pointed out that a person who has actually only been in the community for one month wouldn't know everything I know. I figured the game was up, and told someone that I was Furret in DMs. Got reported the same day.

how much of the formatting of the scp website is actually found only on the scp wiki? Didn't they basically take the entire website's formatting from some free existing template?

Not sure what you mean. If you mean the structure of the wiki itself, that's probably something like one part pre-built Wikidot stuff to two parts stuff SCP people made. The forum infrastructure was all Wikidot, at the very least.

Good thing capturing IP and email addresses isn't doxxing or else they'd be real hypocrites
I didn't even do that. By their own admission, I have never doxed (apparently that's how it's actually spelled) or harassed anyone. They banned me for "drawing attention" to users for other people here to dox and harass. Because as we all know, everyone posted to the Farms in any capacity has their dad's bank details posted publicly within a week.

Honestly, I don't even mind being banned for being a Farms user, I just wish they would admit that they banned me for my membership here instead of trying to call me a doxer while also allowing Procyon to have people's IPs and email addresses via chat (which he has used to dox people before, as we've seen).

You know, I realized that a lot of the scp's involving China don't exactly make them look very good. And we know it's ok to criticize other countries, but I'm not sure on this, isn't that a little right wing yokel trump talk?

Nah, SCP is mostly populated by libertarian leftists who are just as horrified by the goings-on in China as right-leaning people.

I love how he made 0 effort to actually disguise his identity and they’re still patting their backs about it like they’re some kind of ace detective.
Speaking from experience, they have no way of detecting spoof accounts beyond luck and the spoofer being incompetent. Anyone who had the time and inclination to consistently vote/post with 15-20 sock puppets and was paying attention enough to new articles as they were posted could effectively seize editorial control by way of voting on stuff as soon as it’s posted so that drive-by Downvoters or those who use a number to replace their critical thinking faculties will follow suit.

Even if you were not getting stuff deleted outright, the chilling effect and exposure of the unthinking side of upvote culture would be destabilizing. Ah, but of course I don’t know if anyone should spend time engaging in such an underhanded practice, it really would be a waste of time unless you were motivated and patient enough for it to be really effective.

But! One of their many soft spots/pressure points which have yet to have real force applied to them.

Yeah, a common misconception in this thread is that they have a way to see the IPs of Wikidot accounts that apply for wiki membership. They don't. The only way they're getting your IP is if you join IRC. You can easily have multiple accounts on the wiki simultaneously if you're careful enough. I was not careful enough here, and got banned as a result.

Frankly, I'm surprised that they even mentioned the Furret1 account. I never did anything with it, I just applied to the wiki to see if they would let me in, which they did for weeks until someone noticed and quietly revoked my membership.

Their Byzantine application process only ever weeds people out with suspicious account names or when it rejects people by accident. Other than that it’s not difficult to make multiple accounts if you’re patient, can keep track, and can give them at least a year of distinct activity.

But of course as we saw in 2018 if they feel threatened they will ban people indiscriminately and then be frustrated when they can’t find a justification for it afterwards so this method can only give you so much success because they’re eventually going to get tired enough to throw banhammers until the problem is no longer their problem.

edit: browsing through random stuff and saw this attempt by WJS to do something resembling blowing a whistle on my -ex partner’s activity on RPC and my own (unsuccessful) attempts to influence her, which as we have seen in this thread staff were aware of and complicit in for as long as it was happening. (This was before WJS was quietly pushed off staff’s inner circle for his questionable behavior, but really mostly because of his relationship with enemies of the staff, if I recall correctly.)

Compare that to the laughter and gloating we saw happening behind closed doors. Maybe having walled-off preserves of privilege is bad for a community? Just a random thought I had.

They're obsessed with this thread like they're obsessed with little boys, what would you expect? Since I'm basically Phamtom 2.0 ProtoGenesis now, I can tell you a thing or two about spamming alts

Jokes aside, I wouldn't be surprised if theyre trying to find a way to IP grab wikidot accounts now. Fuckers are paranoid as shit, I can tell you that. whenever I talked to staff they were always looking for someone to punish, constantly reciting the rules like the Bible on thanksgiving. it was really funny, and everyone knew they were gonna be skiddish-- also, what is it with them and the word "vehement?" They use it so much its like theyre a fucking hivemind. I mean, they are a hivemind basically, but if I had a nickle for every time a staffer said "vehement" I'd be Kurt Cobain. Yet another part of their larp where they pretend to be actual Foundation personnel, I'm sure. roleplay as researchers by day, ERP with minors by night
