The unfortunate truth is this is a site full of people who treat the internet as serious business despite constantly pretending that they don't. They can't even use an ignore feature out of fear of being viewed as a "coward" on a site that beats the point home that everyone should be as anonymous as possible.

Intentionally low effort nonsense replies that not just troll you, but try to make it as obvious as possible to you that they are trolling you, in order to make the thread boring to you and make you leave. The guy with the hunter biden avatar in the vaxx thread is a good example. They are intentionally tiresome to try to get you to leave.

As one of the people proposing those sorts of rules, I understand where you're coming from, but I think it's very naive.

We're not dealing with reasonable people. We're dealing with several hundred autistic retards who want to use KF as a springboard for gay ops, fedposting and tearing each other apart over stupid bullshit. Letting people "discuss what they want" led to A&N becoming a shithole full of /pol/tards who wanted to destroy what the site was created for (laughing at morons on the internet) and turn it into a far-right circlejerk that will destroy the site (it nearly did several times already).

I didn't sign up to post on a neo-nazi site. I signed up to post on a site where free speech was valued over pearl-clutching, and that meant tolerating a small number of tards. But if we continue where we are going, the site will fundamentally change from what both Null and the majority of the userbase want it to be. If we let this fester, word will get out that KF is /pol/ with even less moderation, more tards will join, and the journos and others already trying to shut the site down on the grounds that it's a "neo-nazi hate site" will have actual evidence pointing to it.

Null has the right to steer the site in the direction he wants. Being laissez-faire about moderation and site rules/mechanics is what got us here. It's not working, that's what his OP in this thread is about.

The problem with Articles and News becoming a problem place has to deal with basically Spergs unable to handle the fact that issues and opinions can be nuanced. If you crackdown on the /Pol/ tard types inevitably you're going to get the reddit/twitterati tier of people flooding in just to fuck with the /Pol/tard types. Basically both should be either equally be cracked down upon or We should embrace the shitshow. With embracing the latter being a problem. Hence why I nominate myself @LeChampion1992 and @HollywoodHulkHogan and @Zombo to be the big 3 articles and Happenings mods. Hulkster would be an important counter balance to perceived right wing bias from me or Zombo. Also I would argue creating different politisperg stickers with right or left arrows for easier creating containment policy for dealing with right wing and left wing politispergs respectively.

Anyone right-leaning who posted in it was regarded, and then treated, as a troll. Then it spilled over to the entire site. There was a poster who would search the site for the word "tranny" and beam themselves into the thread to shit it up, including discussions of automobile transmissions. By the time Gamergate kicked off, there were only two conservative posters left, PCOS Bill and FAROOQ, both of whom posted the way HHH does, because once a forum becomes a monolithic political circlejerk you can't argue or debate with it because you are so outnumbered, so instead you troll and fight and piss people off instead because it's all you can do. SA also fell because the leftists infiltrated the moderation staff - if you note Null's OP for this thread, that is something he is concerned about - he deliberately wants to recruit mods from outside the circlejerk. SA went from "comedy forum" to a rage-fuelled political circus where several posters were arrested for threatening to assassinate the president - not Trump, mind, but Obama, because he "wasn't a real leftist". I left SA because of that bullshit and it's started happening here just with a different ideology.

Sure, but if you're looking at the effect it has on the site, rather than on me as a poster, the way it bears out is that you have threads like this. Where Null wants to let those posters use the site, and the power users who want that not to happen cope and seethe and throw tantrums for 50 pages.

The problem in current political discourse that is all unmoderated political discussion drifts rightwards as most left leaning individuals suck at advocating for their position. This naturally leads to people wanting to moderate and intervene which plays to the left's strength of taking up petty positions of authority for no pay. It's how reddit is, what reddit is.

For me, the solution should be that the left should learn to argue their positions. That would require discipline though, both from the left and the people who run the sites.

What happened to this thread overnight has clued me into the real problem: Both the ardent A&H defenders and their detractors have a fundamental inability/unwillingness to agree to disagree.

@Null talked about needing unity. 30 pages of back-and-forth between the same half dozen users abandoning the idea of talking to each other to instead come up with increasingly elaborate taunts and dunks makes a community feel hostile, unwelcome, and, as he said, combative.

Forget what I said in my essay earlier. The #1 guiding principle for the prospective despot should be that users need to be encouraged to agree to disagree when it becomes clear they have irreconcilable positions. Put users on temporary breaks from threads when they stop discussing and start only insulting. Either side of the political aisle. If it becomes a pattern across multiple threads, temp ban them from the board. Escalate as needed across the Thunderdome.

No one enjoys pages upon pages of shitflinging except the pigs wallowing in it, and we've had quite a few rage hogs upset that their favorite sty is under threat ITT.
