Again, it probably wouldn't happen, but I think a sticker helps as a relief valve for other users who are sick to death of seeing that sort of thing. You could even label it "I FUCKING LOVE ISRAEL" or something hilariously contadictory to the sperg's rage fit.

The main issue I take with the idea of containment/debate threads being created for this particular topic is that there are already a plethora of those in Deep Thoughts, and they still can't contain it. Finding a way to make it funnier for others so they don't have to get mad about it would be more ideal, imo.

Is there a way to rig up awards people can hand out to other profiles on the site? Perhaps an allotment per each account? That way, people who think Long Dong Silver, for example, is far too much of a Jew hater can pepper his profile with tiny "I FUCKING LOVE ISRAEL" badges sporting an Israeli flag or something? Likewise, Silver could smack them back with little badges of el classico Jew nose on their profiles in kind? Make a game out of it?

If you wanted to make a quick buck, @Null, then maybe you could monetize this process somehow? Give more badge/award allotments to T&H fans, or let people buy the stupid things just to be silly assholes to each other? All in good fun, of course.

We already have the dislike and "I disagree, but I still love you" ratings for people to use in their flame wars. As for allowing users to buy custom stickies to put on other people's posts, I'm pretty sure that's already been tried.

The place that implemented it isn't doing too well.

Why not just delete the board if it's causing so many problems? Implementing some kind of draconian solution is a waste of time and ultimately going to make everyone who actually uses the board unhappy.

I assume Null believes it's a pandoras box situation at this point. The users are already here, and as was discovered by taking away the stickers it doesn't result in less bitching it results in more bitching.

To nuke the Thunderdome will result in everyone flooding the rest of the site, which he actually gives a shit about and will just make an even bigger headache for him.

As for if there should be a single thread or two if there is significant and contentious division, I think there has to be two. Look at the TDS and TES threads. They work, so long as shit-stirers are tallywhacked. It can cause problems if not maintained, but I think it is the best option.

I have a possible solution. Its not the draconian be all end all solution that Null wants nor is it something I believe will be chosen. But one idea is better than none I suppose.

My solution is the following:
If you consistently post on Autistic Thunderdome and you try and shit up a thread on another board lolcow or otherwise. You get branded with some funny title and then banned from ever posting on that board ever again. The alternative is instead of being banned from one board, you get banned from every single non autistic thunderdome board and are then forced to post ONLY in Autistic Thunderdome.

Does this save AT from being shat up? No. Does it make AT better? No. Does it at least save the other boards? Yes. Is it entertaining? Probably.

I can't promise a length of time span I'd be able to commit the same amount of time to being Always Online since my cushy work arrangements might change.
But I'd be willing to do some janny work if it meant proving to you that A&H actually isn't the cancer sore it is constantly accused of being.

As for what I'd do to solve the problem, well I can't answer that because I don't know what your current mod setup is. Ideally though mods from select branches of the site would have the ability to communicate effectively so that if a thread shitter was spotted outside of a mods jurisdiction it would be a seamless process to flag that post so the relevant mod could deal with it.
Also, if A&H users are causing problems in off topic or content threads, banning them from those threads isn't going to solve it. The people who focus on one area of the site or another don't care if they get limited from a thread they only visited to politisperg briefly in. So you need a mod willing to say "alright, fuck it, you got busted somewhere else acting like a retard so you are going to get harassed here" - so give them a special status as a retard for a week.

Almost a shame there isn't some way to do a warning for specific users where if they get warned they get a post limit. Imagine the assmad that would result from thread shitters getting hit with a 140 ct, 1 post/30 minute limit lol

Edit - also you'd probably get more organic reporting on the glowposting if there was some function to do it that didn't feel like being a narc. Hard line to tread. But when most people here see "report" they think "tattle to the jannies". Make it clear that there are certain things that can't be posted here if we want to keep our autistic playground (which yes I know you have done repeatedly) but encourage people to flag or point out questionable shit without necessarily making it a "tattle to the janny and get them banned" thing, more a "ummm is this shit even legal" thing. Maybe a "?" icon that flags it so that mods can review the post and see if it breaks the rules while the A&H paranoids can go without thinking they just got a fellow poster gitmo'd.

From what I understand about Xenforo, you can actually put people on discourage to give them a longer time limit between posts. Not sure about triggering it automatically via warning though.

My final solution to deal with the thunderdome

• Step 1
  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square cake pan.
• Step 2
  Cream sugar and butter together in a mixing bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating briefly after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
• Step 3
  Combine flour and baking powder in a separate bowl. Add to the wet ingredients and mix well. Add milk and stir until smooth. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
• Step 4
  Bake in the preheated oven until the top springs back when lightly touched, 30 to 40 minutes.
