Highways are closed in the state. Most businesses are closed. Didn't lose power though.

Driveway had almost a foot of snow last night but now it's clear and sunny outside while it feels below 0.

That's when you know is going to be a particularly cold night. With the clouds gone, so is their insulative effect, and more heat will be lost to space and the upper atmosphere once the sun goes down.

Bundle up and stay warm.

Anyone else listening to iced earth?
I am now.

How is everyone in the path of the latest storm doing today? Hopefully nobody froze to death?

The Texas Freeze sucked ass for many reasons, but... It was a nice change of scenery.
Agreed. There is something beautiful to a freshly-fallen snow. And even when the snow is no longer fresh, the hustle and bustle of clearing the snow can be fun to watch.

In my neck of the woods we only got enough ice that we had to defrost the vehicles and borrowed the neighbor's tractor with a 3 point hitch plow to clear out the driveways of everyone in the neighborhood. Went much better than it could have because our military surplus generator refused to start when we were testing it.

I have to work outside and most of my work involves holding metal which has also been sitting outside overnight. We didn't even get much snow. It's just fuckin 10 degrees out so everything hurts after being outside for more than 15 minutes. FUCK WINTER.

Its fucking cold as fuck. I'm actually having to bust out the kerosene heater to support the central heating.

Update today, Winter Storm watches have been issued from the City of Dallas to Memphis. Hope you Texas bros are ready. There are no models able to accurately predict this one, because these don't happen often, but Dallas could get 4-6 Inches. Little Rock and Nashville may get absolutely fucking buried though.

Little Rock hasn't been above freezing since Sunday except for a few hours off and on. There's a good chance that it's gonna be apocalyptic because every driver around here loses their mind if the road gets damp when it rains.

The crazy thing about it to me is that the atmosphere is so saturated with moisture that we had small unforcasted flurries all over the state yesterday that froze to roads and are still there. This could be an event not seen here since back in the 70s/80s.

It's honestly scary to think about for too long.
Even worse when we're under a Winter Storm Warning with this system still 24 hours out.

I don't like it when they clear the snow. It makes it ugly and messy.

Hopefully the threat of it starting tomorrow afternoon is enough to get the idiots to go home early. Stay safe on those shitass roads, same state kiwi.
