I'm not really up on my weather history, has a tornado ever torn through a major city like Memphis? I think I've only ever heard about towns being decimated or cities getting clipped.
Specifically Memphis, I believe so. An F4 struck it back in the 1980s if I remember correctly. Also, Waco TX, Lubbock TX, Fargo ND, OKC (many times) all had F5/EF5 tornadoes, and many more major cities have had F4/EF4 tornadoes, including Edmonton, Alberta, in Canada.
As well as St. Louis, Topeka, and Tuscaloosa.
RIP Arkansas. Y'all getting annihilated.
Imagine the crater if/when one picks picks up Boogie.

The entire town of Murray must seek shelter immediately. Impact in 10 minutes.

*EDIT* Update. PDS Alert. Tornado Warning. On the ground for Murray Kentucky.

I'm still alive, sirens keep going off. Lightning really cannot be understated, it looks very surreal and my eyes are sore from how bright it is.

I think I'm going to be okay, we're still under a tornado warning but I think it's going to just miss us. Hope everyone else is staying safe.

These big squall lines are usually a total nothingburger by the time they get to my neck of the woods but I'm still keeping an eye on this big bitch.

Currently under a tornado warning with sirens going off all huddled in the basement, rain and wind is picking up, checked on one half of my family who said she’s safe need to call the other to check on them
Warning is supposed to end at 2:00am, hopefully
Holding my babies tight, dog is shaking like I am right beside me
Whether you believe in Him or not, God Bless y’all and stay safe

Some of the tornadoes tonight [particularly the ones that went through Selmer and La Grange] looked downright fucking evil on radar, even in the reflectivity scans. Seriously I don't think you could get closer to a textbook example of a hook echo if you tried.

An astounding 200+ tornado warnings have been issued last night and early this morning, with many of them being issued for confirmed tornadoes, many of them being strong (EF2+) to likely violent (EF4+).

I think we had several EF5-intensity tornadoes during this time, particularly Lake City, AR, Holly Springs, MS and Selmer, TN. The damage photos from Selmer in particular are already unimaginable with a likely well-constructed building completely swept away with no debris left on the foundation.

Horrifyingly, tornadoes are expected to continue for these areas for the next 3 days.

NOAA forecast for the next 48 hours makes for an interesting read. They are expecting the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers to possibly break some records for flooding.

...Life-threatening, catastrophic, and potentially historic flash flood event continues across the Lower Ohio Valley and Mid-South...

...A couple rounds of significant severe weather expected from the Mid-South west through the Ozarks and ArkLaTex with very large hail and strong tornadoes possible...

...Moderate to locally heavy snow showers expected for the Rockies, with some snow showers spreading eastward into the High and Northern/Central Plains...

...Well above average, very warm Spring temperatures to end the week across the Southeast with numerous record-tying/breaking highs possible...

ugh to be dodging exploding transformers. Its only a matter of time before amateur hour tiktok fame "influencers" get killed trying to do this.
These dense motherfuckers profiting off the worst day of people's lives survive through retard luck, yet the professional storm chasers doing everything right to keep themselves safe get fucking merc'd by the El Reno tornado going "Hold my beer, I'm going to do something crazy."

Storm chasing has ALWAYS been a high risk, adrenaline junky shitshow. They get their thrill, we get our footage. Everyone's happy.

I don't want to really give too much information here, but I was very close to one of the affected areas. One of the most destructive tornadoes i've seen in probably 25 years or so. Worried about what happens tonight, and tomorrow. Really glad I don't live in a flood prone area, but my mom does.

As to storm chasers, I enjoy watching the footage they get, but I don't feel bad for them if they get their shit all fucked up either.
