Diseased Shippers, Anti-Shippers, and Shipping Wars - When fictional characters fucking each other is a political statement

Reviving this thread.

Certain type of shippers really hate the idea of M/F ships so much that they will ignore anything in canon just for their gay ship.
They will shout your homophobic or something it's even worse if the ship is both females they will threaten anybody for not shipping there Yuri ships even saying there lesphobic if they ship M/F or even M/M ships they don't care about the straights, gays or even bisexuals they just want lesbians and think anything else are trash.

Found this thread and wanted to state this about shipping. Obviously, people here know about pro shipping where the ship is a problematic pairing. Such as an incest, pedophilia, or an abusive relationship. I find it very funny how pro shippers are perfectly ok with above but I've seen some draw the line at shipping a gay character straight. They really see that as the greatest sin of all time over some weirdo shipping an adult character with an underage character.

I've seen pro shippers just don't care about gay characters shipping in straight ship they just ship anything they want as long it's all fictional and it's kinda true.

Oh man, tell me about it. These F/F fans spend more time wailing, stomping their feet and demanding that others write F/F stuff, than actually even trying to come up with F/F stuff themselves. And yet when there IS new F/F stuff, they dismiss it because "it's done by an icky male", "it's male gaze", "it's not the ship *I* want", etc.

I don't think even the Yaoi-chans of Yore were this irritating, entitled and hypocritical. At least they DID write their M/M stuff, shitty as it could be, instead of complaining nonstop.

Yeah this kind of F/F shippers are so fucking annoying.
Also telling other shippers being homophobic, lesbophic etc. just for not doing any F/F contents (like fanarts, fanfics etc.) and telling why M/F and M/M stuffs are problematic because reasons ?
Like there so much M/F and M/M stuff because those fans make them unlike this F/F fans who just cry and shout why there stuff are rare because you guys are just lazy.
Even old yaoi fans can be productive with their stuff making content even they are creepy unlike this F/F fans who are just lazy and hypocritical.

MAN, this thread has not been updated in quite a while. IDK if this one will be enough to REALLY awakening it, but let's see.

So around two or three months after the official ending of the VERY polemic My Hero Academia / Boku no Hero Academia, where Izuku/Deku became a teacher rather than a professional hero and seemingly was Just Friends with Ochaco/Uravity an Extra Chapter (431) was released...

And either Izuku and Ochaco are ACTUALLY dating, or are almost surely on their way to start going out.

https://mangaatrend.net/my-hero-academia-chapter-431-english/ <- you can read it here! But just in case, here are some pictures:

You can imagine how a certain part of the fandom has taken it. . .

QUICK TRANSLATIONS!

Lyvi Yaoi:
"Worst thing, they took away BKG to put her there, taking away all of Ura's development and lowering her to solely be the love interest, if really ended up like in Naruto"

Fatima Guadalupe Castillo:
"Meh, didn't expect less from a shounen. They really have to fulfill the expectatives of men, who consume more shonen there. In the end, uit's Japan's cultural misogyny.

Walter Carona:
"WTF, BakuDeku is better"

Laura Monfardini:
"I think it's not romantic, he's just comforting her, she was talking about Toga."

Araceli:
"telling truths, it feels too forced to feel it natural"

Tamara Weasley: "It'0s just like in the Bleach ending, the official couple had 0 development"

"My face when

My face when they again finish a shonen with an heterosexual relatiobship0 that they never developed through the series, giving it a terrible ending and what does it feel?? they did it just to please the men who didn't stop bothering them"

MORE QUICK TRANSLATIONS:

OP:
"Was it a coincidence that all of your subplot was about trying to grab his hand, only to see him grab the hand of a girl who fell for him?
Was it a councidece that you sacrificed yourself three times for your childhood friend?"

Dumbass 2:
"Dying while thinking of him, sacrificing yourself for him, wanting to spend the rest of your life with him, all of that was worth shit he decided to stay with someone else

Dumbass 3:
"Add it t0 the list of shone with a fully forced ship"

Dumbass 4:
"We will always have Bkdk through almostg the whole manga, there wass even in the enduing, make it like these pages don't exist or somehting, you will always be able to ship them and stuff, but even when the othert ship that had nothing to do was made canon, I'll tell ya that Kacchan and Deku will always be in a relationship"

1733258907256.png

ANOTHER QUICK TRANSLATION:

"Imagine re-thinking your whole life after a boy offered you a hand
And wastING more than eight years of your life
In getting an outfit
The times you cried for him
To end up hearing about
His feelings for a girl who didn't prove being there for him like you were."

LAST QUICK TRANSLATION:
"This epilogue is an equivalent to the Naruto the Last movie, where he was forced to have feelings for the female that he never really looked at romantically"

Sorry this was kinda late, I was out of town. But daaaaamn, this is still delicious. :story:

Sometimes I wonder if there’s another version of shows I like that has stuff I didn’t see. The very first time Ochako was introduced I knew she was gonna be Deku’s love interest. It was pretty obvious. And really cute, I thought. The “rival” that the protagonist struggles against but also has a deep bond with by the end is pretty much a staple of shonen anime. Bakugo is there to give Deku something to strive against, not to fall in love with. If you’re gonna watch something you’re not the target audience of (women like me watching shows made for teen boys) at least try to understand what you’re watching.

Another one I wonder if there’s a secret other version of than the one I watched is Supernatural. I have watched it straight through multiple times and haven’t seen a single indication that Dean wasn’t 100 percent straight. The entire series he was more than ready to jump in bed with whatever woman was interested. But there’s people who will die on the hill that he’s bi and into Castiel. All the arguments I’ve read only work if you take things wayyyyyy out of context. I don’t get it.

They thought Ochako was romantically a thing with Toga and therefore wouldn't be an icky straight woman breaking up BakuDeku

This was discussed in the fanfiction horrors thread, but the reason M/M ships don't get as anal (no pun intended) over purity wars like those in the F/F culture is because with men, anything goes and it'll be seen as normal because there is no taint of misogyny when there are no female characters. Male characters are more malleable and with men you can literally use them as punching bags and that's fine because, in the mindset of ficcers, provided no women are involved, it won't trigger a deep-seated emotional response.

Yaoi shippers will launch outright wars and continue to write fic and draw fanart years after a work has ended or has a new ending - see the Star Trek ending where it's left open ended as to whether Kirk/Spock are canon - while F/F will have internal wars over misogyny and the male gaze. it's brutal, and I can see why even lesbian authors choose to write male centered porn (there is an irony in that, but I'll let you make the conclusions).
Yeah this kind of F/F shippers are so fucking annoying.

See post above. M/M shippers don't have the same stigma, so to speak, of writing about women, so they can go all-out with their stuff regarding male characters and no one bats an eye. Anything goes.
MAN, this thread has not been updated in quite a while. IDK if this one will be enough to REALLY awakening it, but let's see.
It's the same with the Arcane fandom at the moment. The ending was a weird yaoi bait where two male characters held hands and comforted each other before being erased from existence - the common claim is that their souls ascended together as one being - and afterwards one of the co-creators said that their relationship was not romantic. This set off a massive Twitter firestorm where they brought up scenes that showed 'there was no way in hell this relationship was platonic', and rattled off unnamed animators, VAs reblogging fanart (which is their personal choice and does not reflect creative decisions), other writers - that they could not name - and dubs such as the Greek dub that used a term colloquially used as 'male lover'. There were many parallels made between it and the Star Trek fan film that had Kirk and Spock reunite after being killed in different universes, with the statement that their love transcended universes and timelines, etc. At least Kirk and Spock got a fitting ending, open-ended as it was, and Star Trek is still discussed years later.

MHA's shitty ending, and Arcane's shitty second season, may only cement its influence for a few years. Remember that Game of Thrones was an absolute cultural juggernaut for YEARS until Seasons 7-8 came out. Now, no one talks about it. No one remembers it aside from the memes about the bad ending. Arcane will suffer the same fate, and MHA will as well. Even shippers jump ship if a fandom becomes boring to them; Star Trek is a legacy fandom so hardcore fans remain. MHA appeals to a younger, rabid audience so the ones leftover will be more mature fans who won't take the shipping fans as seriously. This happened with the Hetalia fandom and that was the prototype MHA fandom. You did not want to see those days.

You didn't hear of Hetalia fans driving others to the point of suicide over shipping, though.
No, that began with the tumblr culture and Steven Universe in particular. Once this shit started getting to social media death threats started becoming more and more pile-on, where a user could be absolutely inundated with them. Steven Universe will forever be that fandom where a girl was nearly driven to suicide over drawing Rose Quartz skinny - and then have that near death rewritten as a hoax from fans later on.

I don't get to hear the non-shippers' opinions very often since, y'know, they're not into it so they don't have anything to say about it that's (usually) meaningful. But the few times they do when they witness something, it's actually a pretty fascinating, insightful take to hear them call out shippers.

MagicMush was calling out a terrible video essay on Chowder, and it turned into the topic of shipping, which he's not interested in at all, and as a result, could see right through the bullshit.

And he's thinking on doing a separate video on the concept. Expect more autistic male shipper call-outs.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth released on PC. And so has a repeat of shipper dissatisfaction and cope, though not at all from the direction previously suggested. I'm sure, down the line CloudxTifa's shippers will be fine with it but as it stands right now they're unhappy and CloudxAerith shippers are gloating. Which was what happened on release, as well. If you want CxA shippers to be sad you'll need to wait until Part 3.

And I of course said all of this last time, which was itself months after release. If you had a point to make you'd have made it in a timely fashion anyway. Not months later when the experience has receded into memory. That's obviously going to look revisionist.

Now to explain why this is the case:
With Free Camera mods it's clear a lot more careful work went into one side of the love triangle and not the other. And it's widespread. Most the of attention has gone to Cloud and Tifa's kiss not even remotely hitting on the lips but there are also things like clipping hands and also Aerith being the intended Rosa (this is who you picked to have the strong relationship toward) because Cloud can actually rest his head on her without clipping or a resting on a big empty void.

Alone this would not matter, but... Meanwhile his scenes opposite Aerith have a lot of extra emotional detail and information on his face which would be impossible to see without this mod. This means these scenes are not thinly-strewn artifice but represent a compelling amount of developer intent. It's how they see their own creations. Which really solidifies which couple was favored and constitutes the canon route (in this installment). Which was, again, obvious on release as well or just if you have any familiarity with the franchise since only a lunatic would argue Aerith's path wasn't canon in the original.

Pictures are from /v/ in no particular order but hopefully intuitively laid out. They're also not exhaustive. The broken-neck Tifa thing doesn't really mean anything was just a universally clowned-on visual which ended up in various memes summarizing these discoveries. And none are from the original angles obviously. For the CxA scenes that isn't necessarily obvious, given how informative they are with Cloud's otherwise hidden expressions, but it's very obvious for the rest because there are huge mistakes.

Dunno if this has been brought up already or not, but back when Boruto came out, the shippers were all shitting their pants over who Sasuke fucked. Turned out it was Sakura and not Ino. For some reason it was some big mystery for a while and some smarmy Sasuke and Sakura shipper went around to every piece of Sasuke/Ino ship art he could find on DA to rub it in their faces that his preferred ship was the canon one.

MAN, I WISH I HAD SEEN THAT. It would've been a change from all the "MUH SASUNARU" or "MUH NARUSAKU" whining that even now pops out. :story:

I've seen something so hilarious on Deviantart while looking for eldritch horror designs. Boy, you are not ready for this justification.

You've heard of "they're not biologically-related," "they're the same sex," "they didn't know," and "it's only fiction." Now get ready for....

...."THEY'RE BOTH ELDRITCH HORRORS BEYOND HUMAN COMPREHENSION, SO THERE IS NO NEED TO APPLY OUR STANDARDS TO THEM!"

Here's the description and a comment pointing out WHY THE ARTIST IS DOING THE WRONG THING. Well, she didn't answer the reply as to why she's shipping a parent and her son.

Here's the thing. Lovecraft did pair half-siblings Cthulu and Kassogtha, but he portrayed it as stomach-churning and insanity-inducing, like, "why the fuck do these demented space squids fuck their siblings eewwwww?" This woman drawing made Nyarlathotep and Azathoth a cute, quirky, silly couple. And even if the mother and son happen to be inhabiting different bodies unrelated to each other, it's still wrong.

Also, "they're eldritch gods so it matters not." Shouldn't putting them in human form make it WORSE, considering that Lovecraft was pertaining to parent and child in human standards regarding Azathoth and Nyarlathotep?

This guy is wearing my honest reaction to the ship:
Screenshot_20250213_233133_Chrome.jpg

BTW, I have no idea if someone else in Lovecraft's circle or even Lovecraft himself paired Azathoth and Nyarlathotep as a couple.

They're disguises. She's drawn the lovecraftian forms on her deviantart. It's very sad. Her art actually looks cool and her designs have some creative charm to them, but she had to draw incest and make an excuse.
