Keep them in for a while, if shit gets repetitive and clogs up the thread then send them to the thunderdome. It makes threads interesting if cows actually have content to add. It becomes less interesting if it runs in circles.

would say "No" to a blanket ban and "Yes" to shipping off all the spergy lolcows to Australia Thunderdome.
If a lolcow behaves itself and the users don't go into "Notice me Senpai" overdrive, there is no reason to split them.
Pretty much this, should be a case by case thing.

I can think of incredibly few times a cow showing up in their own thread resulted in content. What happens is the cow shows up and content immediately dies, stuffed away between 10 and 20 pages of people yelling and cows yelling. Generally everyone comes out of it looking stupid and a bunch of white noise has been introduced that no one wants to read.

I'd suggest making all people of interest only able to post in a special subforum - a literal autism thunderdome - where they and users can yell at each other to their hearts content. Any content that may accidentally show up could then be piped over to the lolcows actual thread for discussion.

I'm with Smutley, that suggestion sounds pretty neato. I sort of noticed this in that one thread with the fat guy who wears blue blockers, there wasn't actually much in the thread other than the posts of the cow in question and their responses, which I feel sort of defeats the point of a thread after an unspecified amount of time of them shitting up the place, and it stops being funny.

'tism dome seems to be the way to go, honestly.

The only time a cow showing up is funny is when they pretend they're someone else and try to run interference.

Add me to the "autism thunderdome" camp.

I lurk a lot more than I post (although I post a fair amount) but even I just straight up don't read threads like the Brad Watson thread. There's no point in trying to get through 500 pages of next-to-nothing, and then you show up, try to figure out where the content is, and people are just like "lol read the thread." No. I come here to laugh, and people telling telling Brad he isn't Jesus over and over again gets old. We all know he isn't Jesus, if he was he would have shut down this website.

I can't say, as compelling as some of the arguments have been, that I would even do it on a case by case basis. Lolcows are lolcows for a reason, they are incapable of social interaction, including being funny. The humor is all in watching them from a distance, maybe with the occasional moment of gold, but left to run wild in the thread arguing with our own speds and you find out just why they're lolcows in the first place. Send them to the thunderdome and let users better than I am bring back funny screencaps of the best stuff.

I'm all for it (I think I even recommended this months ago) but I also think it's avoiding the real issue, users just being fucking idiots.

I don't think we'd even need such a system if the mods just got a little less tolerant of 20 people posting "ur dum" every other post. Not to actually punish the users, but just to tell them to knock it off and take it to a PM or something if they must. I think if we actually make an effort to try and clean up the behavior of users, the forums will be better as a whole.

Mike is a great example of how people are totally incapable of ignoring attention whores and just gotta fucking say something.

True dat, but there'd be nothing current to have a thread on if he got booted. Most of his off-site stuff was before he got kicked from any forum he was on.

Yeah, I've sworn off his thread as I can see there's no point talking to him but a thunderdome sub board for guys like him would be good, maybe along with pruning.

A thunderdome subboard would be nice, where they get threadbanned to while normal discussion could continue in the main thread on the lolcow board.

This. Also, separate out actual lolcows more carefully into actual lolcows and sources (there are still some non-lolcows with the "Verified" tag), then give them permissions only to post on the thunderdome board.

The main nuisance of lolcow-centered threads is they then go out and shit up normal threads until they're threadbanned. With a special board, they could be limited to shitting up other lolcow threads, which is sometimes funny.

Also this. Not all people of interest turn into full-blown lolcows. And some actual lolcows are at least moderately capable of quality posts on other threads, like @Connor Bible.

Most, though, are just completely useless and nothing but a waste of time on other threads.

Believe it or not whilst I appreciate the endorsements to allow me continued participation within my own thread somehow I don't think the moderation particularly cares for what either of you think.

Speaking objectively and keeping in mind that I would want to remain in it, my own thread is just as a redundant clusterfuck and spergish trollsheild circlejerk as all the others. You only want that to continue. You haven't the rest of the readership in mind and my thread remains an impenetrable tome even I can't be arsed reading for all eternity.

Go back to your cage you male masculine man full of masculine testosterone because you are a man.

I suggest we make @Connor Bible the mod of the Lolcow Thunderdome subforum if he apologizes to us for his heartbreaking betrayal.

Shaner was a slightly different case in that he was being actively trolled by weens.

And the weens came from our own users, that shit was the real reason why it was a lowlight, the thunderdome aspect just piled on more attention to it.

I second this.
Also look at those poll numbers, seems 40% of users want this subforum and 26% don't really care. Only 1/3rd voted against the seperation idea.

But on the forum a lot of users believe it should be a case by case basis.

I suggest some sort of "thread flair" like the Community Watch's "Infected/Diseased/Plagued" tags, where the "Infected" tag means that lolcow has arrived, perhaps they're genuinely pleasant and want to clear up things, "Diseased" means that they show up fairly regularly, and shitposts are starting to pile up, and "Plagued" means that there's dozens of pages of questions/lolcow is sperging out (Tommy Tooter, Marijan, and one of the pedos).

The thing about these kinds of threads is the people in them generally enjoy them, but the actual product is a thread that is nearly completely unreadable after the fact and consists of 99.44% shitposts.

People probably genuinely enjoy pissing themselves but the aftermath is just a big mess isn't it
