Sid Meier's Civilization

Civ VI is on sale on Steam and I’ve never played it, is it worth picking up?
As always with Civ, the dlc makes it much better. The main point of contention for most people is Districts, special buildings that cover the different yields that occupy a tile. To play optimally, you need to be planning your cities a long time in advance (Wonders occupy a tile too). I personally enjoy the city-building aspect but the problem is I dont think the AI can truly use it like a human, so they're even more laughable than usual

I does make me wonder if Civ could introduce minor heroes? Support characters that can help your cities develop in more unique ways. Tubman’s city would be able to attract more population and have more morale, on account of her tireless efforts to care for her family and other escaped slaves. An Audie Murphy city would give buffs to soldiers. An Elvis city would give boosts to cultural development, on top of every unit produced from that city wearing an Elvis wig.
So just an extension of Great People, no? (Which they could easily adapt into national Great People.)

AI is worse in 6 than in 5 because of agendas overriding semi-predictable but rational behavior. If you don't have them, get Civ IV or Old World or Endless Space 2 instead.
Endless Space is really good. if your getting a Civ style rash ES2 will soothe it

Plus you know...big titty fish mommy

I want them to do this so badly. As much as I love CIV, the salt would be legendary. Game journos twisting themselves into knots in order to justify it, because Take-Two pays the bills.
Well, the troop tech ends at either the 1970's or the 1980's...

On one hand, everyone with functioning pattern recognition already knows that Civ 7's choices are being done solely for the sake of ideology. On the other I have to respect the hustle of being given the best selling strategy series as a vehicle to shill your grievance studies drivel. Nevermind the meme magic of the person likely responsible for putting Harriet Tubman into the game as a leader for America being named Andrew Johnson.

I still don't get why they have leaders in this game for nations that the game doesn't have.

"Amina, Queen of Zazzau" -- my brother in Christ, you picked UGANDA (Bugunda's current owner) instead of Nigeria (Zazzau's current owner) for the Modern Age, and Zazzau was NEVER a part of the Songhai Empire in West Africa (their Exploration Age African pick).

"Machiavelli, the Prince or some shit" -- fella, Machiavelli is from the one part of Italy with not even a tangential relation to the nations in the game. If he were southern Italian, you could say he fits the Normans or the Spanish, but he isn't. You could possibly say he's related to France, since Florence became Tuscany and the ancestral powerbase for Civ 6's French leader, but that's a stretch. He doesn't even represent the Romans right, because Florence is located where the ETRUSCANS used to be.

(insert Wakanda joke for Harriet Tubman)

Because even a game that's very much trying to show how much they love the blacks with choices like Harriet Tubman as a full-on leader can't be bothered to not treat Africa like it's just a single country with interchangeable cultures instead of an entire continent, I suppose.

I know of only one unironic Pan-Africanist, and he was the guy who said that "gay is anti-black", espousing the wholesomeness and righteousness of "same-gender-lovin'" instead.

But hey, maybe Friaxis is sincere about theirs.

The Victories are going to be Science, Culture, Military, and Economic.

Because, of course, this is Civilization Revolution again.

Diplomacy is going to be locked behind DLC again (I bet), and Religion exists only to get a mini-victory (a "Legacy") for Culture in the Exploration Age.
I know in Civ 6 they punished you hard for going military. You take a city and everyone hates you until the end of the game. It's like how every 4X seems to punish you for playing wide now.

This is going to be bad, they aren't really offering anything new, and staunchly refuse to expand on existing systems.

It's not really a punishment since the AI is very passive and they suck at war.
And Civ 6 doesn't really punish you for expanding since using the culture system you can force take over AI cities.
Too bad AI cities are too close to each other so the genocide route is the one most favorable for my ocd.

At least it's not quite like in Stellaris, where genocide is the only way to maintain a framerate.

I meant diplomatic penalties and this was more at launch. Where Germany would settle a city right next to you, pump out warriors and declare war. After you won it, you spent then entire game with everyone hating you because you dared to take a city.

I only play Civ 6 sparingly, and prefer 5 overall to be honest. As well most of my playtime with Civ 6 is pre expansions.
