Wait, seriously? I didn't have the chance to watch it yet.

God, didn't they just make a countermeasure for that in VI?! Why the hell didn't they account for it here?

I’ve played every version of this since a friend gave me a cracked copy of Civ 2 and this is the first time I’ve had misgivings about a sequel.

Harriet Tubman was defeated at the ballot box, damn your eyes.

A lot of Britons are justly rather mad that they're not base roster in some form. The timing and influence of when Civ VII was developed versus its release during the current cultural vibe shift is going to be an interesting clash to see.
In addition, people are speculating and are fairly certain that the Brits are going to show up as a headliner for one of the DLCs later on because people would be more likely to spend on DLC for them instead of something like, let's say, Buganda. They're specifically believing that it'll be present in the "Right to Rule Collection".

Started playing Unciv again, was having a bit of fun with it. The CivVI mod for it has come a long way despite it still having to bootleg stuff like policies. Rekmod on it is still the best. If you guys want a light weight CivV clone that's free or can be run on android I recommend it.

This is shaping up to be the biggest dumpster fire launch in Civ's history, I can't wait.

God, didn't they just make a countermeasure for that in VI?! Why the hell didn't they account for it here?

There was a lot of (IMO unfounded) hate for the Loyalty system that the first Rise&Fall Expansion for Civ VI introduced.

I've seen lots of players talking about DLing mods specifically to remove it.

Probably one of the most hated added on features, other than the World Congress that seemed to be pretty universally panned.

Personally, I think the Loyalty worked well to stop the forward settling problem. If also introduced another layer to gameplay in that a lot of the territory adjacent to your own that wasn't yet claimed was still de facto yours because no one else could claim it.

The only BS thing was that the Loyalty lens didn't apply to Civs you hadn't yet met.

So sometimes you'd have already established a new city to claim territory or a resource, only to have that city immediately rebel upon contact with another leader. I've definitely ragequit some starts because I was about to lose one of my first few cities because I was too early in the game to plonk a Governor or fiddle around with Policy Cards to save it.

Seems pretty lame to have a second Exploration Age in the game on launch that's supposed to be about Exploration and Expansion by sea. And yet they've only included two nominal Colonial civs (even Normandy is only colonial-adjacent) and a Genghis Khan Golden Horde that was expansionist but didn't involve naval prowess at all outside of an invasion of Japan rekked by weather.

The AI is not any smarter than Civ V.

Sorry for the doublepost.

I've seen some of the less fanboyish, bought off Civ streamers who have early access like Marbozir (and maybe SaxyGamer?) note that the Deity Difficulty level gives the AI a +8 Combat Bonus compared to a +4 Bonus in Civ VI.

Barring some complete overhaul in how Combat Strength is calculated in VI v VII, that strongly implies that the devs still haven't been able to implement a competent and challenging AI to counter the very skilled human players when it comes to war and the Domination game.

I can't remember the specifics, but in VI, unit Combat Strength wasn't scaled linearly. A 10 point split in CS represented something like a 100% increase in damage done.
