My question is will this remake be less hated or more hated than SH2 in the dreaded HD collection?
Konami is going for the world record of most botched remakes/remasters by one studio, apparently.
The HD Collection at least makes me laugh with shit like Konami losing their own source code then shoving the remaster onto a studio who exclusively make DS shovelware expecting them to be able to frankenstein it back together. Then the game being completely broken at launch, in a state comparable to the infamous GTA remasters, I find that insanely funny.
This remake is just fucking bleak. Konami actually managed to sell out this series even harder than they already did with the pachinko machines. And just because of the tone of the games themselves, I think that sort of thing hits a bit harder than usual.
How does it feel to live long enough to see all your favorite franchises go down in flames?

Forbidden siren and fatal frame will surely save us from this dreaded dark era of even shittier horror games and Resident evil 4 aids
I'm still waiting for Slitterhead.

I'm terrified for Suikoden.

I may be revealing myself as a big homo here, but I played Fatal Frame 1 on the PS1 a couple years ago and it scared me so badly I couldn't continue. Something about the atmosphere of that game is so oppressive it gave you the sort of anxiety you get in a dream when you're naked in public. Absolutely horrific experience and I am not someone scared easily. Absolutely adore that series. I hope they stop doing ports and release a new one, but I understand that they're probably not exactly rolling in money with the way that franchise performs.

It's already dead, man. They can't hurt it anymore.
It's a shame what happened to Pyramid head. From disturbing monster to nearly naked Himbo. Over the years he got more clean, muscular and wore less & less clothes.

Nothing is worse than horror fanboys, and no subset of that group (barring the culture warrior troons) is worse than Silent Hill autists. The obsess over it until they have memorized all the minutiae about The Lore, have read every faggy Fandom wiki explaining everything in autistic detail, have watched every video analyzing the symbolism and plot events. They heckin' love the IP, and they're too stupid to understand why they love it. They destroy the thing they love by dissecting it, forgetting that the big picture is the point.

This is how you get retards arguing that PH can be in other games ackshually, because it was established in SH3 by an in-game painting that he still exists in the universe outside of SH2 blah blah blah get excited for next product. It's in The Lore! Konami says it's canon! You don't get to decide what SH is for all the fans! You take this too seriously! Etc. If they worked in game development, they would all be big fans who all turned out tepid SH2 retreads like Homecoming.

Red Pyramid Thing is not even a proper character. It's a prop in a specific story. It's not a mascot. (They gave you Robbie if you need it, for fuck's sake.) And it doesn't become more interesting the more you discuss it.

I hate these people. They're the audience for the Blumpkin Team remake.

What is the fucking point of a "digital" artbook when you can look at everything in the book on the internet for free? Someone always downloads and uploads these things somewhere.
Thats true of all these extras, I never use cosmetics I dont want overpowered weapons, soundtracks, art, desktop wallpapers are all completely pointless. Its all crap.

Nothing in this world kills mystique and psychological horror intrigue faster than fucking pre-order bonuses and Pyramid head hats...

Everyone whose been around since the first time Konami killed the franchise (over 12+ years ago) knew this would happen and aren't surprised. That limey's "9 red flags" video I posted months ago has become truly prophetic. I said this before but, thank God Sato got to make something truly unique with the original, and it's easily accessible now via emulators.

I knew the Demake was destined to fail when only Ito and Yamaoka were apparently "consulted". There are numerous people who contributed to SH2's success, but Konami only brought back the music guy (who upon discovery used lots of samples) and the monster (not character) designer. I would argue that, since the old music and designs could and should have been used again, the most important people to bring back would have been the Director, or the original Writers, or perhaps Takeyoshi Sato!

If you don't know, Sato lived and breathed Silent Hill. He made the CG cutscenes for the first two games, and in interviews he truly seemed to understand the core concepts of the series, Sex and Death. Simple on the surface, but extremely complex deep down.

Don't forget Hiroyuki Owaku, he was involved in one way or another in all of the Team Silent titles: creating all the puzzles for SH1, writing the scenarios for SH2 & SH3 and the original Japanese lyrics for all songs in SH3 & SH4.

Some more info on the guy here: https://game-developers.fandom.com/wiki/Hiroyuki_Owaku/大和久_宏之

And of course, Keiichiro Toyama deserves credit for writing and directing the original game. The series would not be the same without him channeling his interests in the occult and David Lynch films.
(bonus: Yamaoka, Toyama, and Sato giving an interview in 1999 https://www.silenthillmemories.net/creators/interviews/1999.03_toyama_sato_opm_en.htm)

Of fucking course. When I saw Angela’s face I knew something was up.
I've got a pretty Chadly jawline irl but these Sweet Baby designed female characters absolutely mog me.

They're fucking cartoons, they look like the low tier DragonBall villain henchmen that always show up at the beginning of a filler arc.
Fuck, I’m a man and my jaw isn’t even as big as all these women in these video games. And I have a fairly big jaw.

You don't understand, it's actually subtle commentary on how the patriarchy forces women to serve as living nutcrackers from early childhood.
Ever heard of "show, don't tell"? Sigh, media literacy is truly dead.
