Silent Hill

The absolute worst part of the Silent Hill 2 remake isn't even the fact that the game is a massive piece of shit, but that we will be seeing xitter spergs soying hard over it for years to come.
It won't be years. It'l probably be a few months at most. Those sort of people can only get "excited" for so long. Just look at all the supposed fanfare of say FF7 Rebrith. Who is talking about that game now? Who is even talking about the next part?

They're the kind of people who gush about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie which gets you excited that they're interested in a classic until you realize they're talking about the remake instead of the original and that you have nothing to say to them.
Fuck PT, always remember what KONAMI took from us. We got Homecoming and the western slop instead of these cooler ideas. I wanna see a (real Team Silent) Silent Hill with Texas Chainsaw influence. :(

The first half is solid and then the second half happens. There is no joke ending either since the game was probably rushed and so it isn't even replayable compared to 1-3.
I feel like if they hadn't dropped all of the state machines they made for 2 and 3 in favor of the new combat system they'd have had a lot more time to build the assets and whatnot. I could be wrong though but the sharp departure from the other games points heavily to the case being that Team Silent probably wanted to make a different game and the overall experience suffered for it.

Speaking to the above point: Despite having played the game only the once upon release twenty years ago, I distinctly remember navigating that first subway level with Henry, having to hit a few dogs with a pipe, and thinking, "This game feels unfinished." To feel that way after having played the previous three games lowered my expectations dramatically and, as it turned out, accurately. SH4 and The Outer Worlds are the games I feel most sharply declined in quality the further you got in to them, with The Outer Worlds being more cynically front-loaded with its only worthwhile content, for the sake of tricking reviewers.

The developers in the interview on what they were planning for the next games, were taking feedback about SH4 and agreeing that they went a little overboard on the combat emphasis and promised to dial it back for the next daylight horror focused game. Such different times bros...
Ironic how after they were broken up ORIGINS and Homecoming happened which weny in the literal opposite of what the franchise was gonna go for if Team Silent were around.

Who is talking about that game now? Who is even talking about the next part?
The answer to the first question is "coomers", and the answer to the second question is nobody because they just latch onto the next COMO (Coom of the Month) to make material of.

I am.only being partially hyperbolic; it can be more like CONFM, Coom of the Next Few Months. See also: Dungeon Meshi.

This. And when you see what the EE team has done, or how to emulate a PS2, there just isn't a good excuse not to play the original game to get the original experience.

Unless you're a cunt who can't "git gud" at tank controls.

The game has a modern control option lmao. No excuse.

None of it is the same lmao. It doesn't even have the cult aspect, Harry of SM is not the Harry of SH1 or SH3. It's a new game entirely that just uses the characters because they lied to Konami about the pitch, KONAMI wanted them to remake 1 so they skirted around it by calling it a "reimagining" whatever to avoid controversy for essentially making a new game. Absolutely NONE of the same plot synopsis happens, it's character focused and is only based on the bad ending focusing on character dramas.
You play as CHERYL MASON (not of 3 tho) during the therapy segments because she is recounting her dead father's story which differs greatly from the events of 1. Literally the ONLY plot point it keeps is Harry crashing then looking for Cheryl, but it leads to an entirely different story (which I prefer since these Western writers are horrible at writing the cult). The "same" characters are not the same, they may as well be different characters since they wanted to tell a different story. You tell me how the game has the same synopsis lmao, ALESSA isn't even in here, so her OTHERWORLD plot can't happen, the REBIRTH OF GOD doesn't happen. It's character focused and exploration focused. They used an ice otherworld and weird monsters instead because surely its a remake.

You either haven't ever played these games (likely) or you're intentionally being stubborn. I was under the impression remakes generally follow the same plot, the developers themselves used REIMAGINING more during marketing because more people wanted an actual remake. If anything SHATTERED MEMORIES is a "what if?" game and a loose sequel within an entirely different universe. I love the exploration and plot of Shattered Memories, but it's essentially its own game. The puzzles are pretty weak, and the monsters honestly shouldn't be there. Otherwise its the only Western game I recommend playing. Konami forced them to make it into SH1 but I'm glad they were allowed to change it enough to basically be another game like they wanted.

>the remake rewrites the plot so it isn't a remake
I'm glad it's no longer a game about Harry Mason looking for his daughter after a car crash in a spooky town and none of the SH1 cast like Cybil, Dahlia, Lisa and Kaufman show up. And none of the scenes like Lisa bleeding appears again for no real reason other than that's what happened in SH1.

You're describing someone's big budget OC donut fanfiction demake that wrote out the cult because it's "le dumb/le not psychological". That is all. It's really dumb to cope about muh cult not being in it when everybody still has their old names lmao.
