Silent Hill

Niggercattle consoomers will lap up content getting cut and resold as DLC. Same thing happened with Separate Ways.
I refused to buy that DLC unless they changed that boring cunt of a voice actress and I stand by that to this day, despite enjoying the base game quite a bit.

Capcom seemed surprised by the underwhelming sales' numbers of the DLC. Maybe the majority of the fanbase didn't want to play as that washed-out Ada?

Still hating the enemy placements but I have to admit the labyrinth section didn't disappoint. In the original that section always scared me because of pyramid head just wandering about and I like what they've done with it here. Not the monster gauntlet at the end, fuck that boring shit but everything else was really good about that section. Knowing pyramid head is just skulking about and the map is a work in progress maze always freaks me out.

I will say that this remake is fairly decent after playing it, and I was one of the people shitting on it before release. It’s still inferior to the original, but it’s a competently made game especially coming from blunder team. As far as improvements go, it’s obviously better in the graphics department. Holy shit, a game in 2024 having good graphics? Wild. Other than that, the gameplay is obviously better, but it’s not like it was a very high bar in the first place. The combat has never been a point of praise for any of the silent hill games. Also I really like the atmosphere. It’s better than a lot of modern games.

Now the negatives. The story lacks the subtleties it had in the original. This was an obvious one for any silent hill 2 fan who examined the trailers. The overall story may not be different, but it’s very annoying how many scenes got fucked up. Especially the “a corpse can’t laugh” scene. My god…

Next is characters. They’re all worse with maybe an exception of Laura, but honestly she’s just about the same as the original. Angela’s delivery got fucked with her shitty VA, much the same with Mary with her letter at the end being… emotionless, to say the least. And then there’s Eddie, who in the original was just the overweight guy eating entire pizzas. There wasn’t an immediate suspicion with him right when you first met. But with the remake, he looks like an obese Crackhead who obviously gives off creepy vibes, especially in the theater. This isn’t subtle at all. He needs to gradually make the player suspicious of him before his breaking point, not the way they presented him in the remake.

On to the music. It’s pretty much all worse compared to the OG. Some songs are tolerable enough, but then there’s songs like theme of Laura which got butchered.

And on to the last point, the wokeness. I will admit that it’s not as woke as I thought it would be, but it’s still there, that can’t be denied. All the women are uglier and it’s obvious why Maria’s outfit was changed. Other than that, I can’t really think of anything, but perhaps it needs a deeper analyzation. If you can get past all the women being westernized, you should mostly be fine.

And that’s it. It’s a decent attempt at remaking the original, but I’d rather replay the original game any day, and anyone who is acting like this replaces the original is a retard. It’s like the resident evil remakes, it’s fine as it’s own thing, but the original should be played as well. If I tried shitting on this game, I’d be lying, because it’s definitely not a bad game. At the same time though, anyone acting like it’s the 2nd coming of Christ is a shill. It’s better than any silent hill in the past 20 years, but the bar wasn’t exactly high.

No because the game is very clear that women can be equally as vicious as men ans that just because u are a victim that doesn't mean you are a good person or don't deserve it
You poor fool, none of that matters if it has heckin valid lesbians in it.

(I actually have a physical copy, for the record.(

I can tell you that barely anyone who still played RE4R at that point talked or streamed that DLC, so it can be assumed it's a combination of this and just not wanting to pay for something so underwhelming
Fuck, $80 for this shit....
I think this dooms this demake more than anything. Even if we consider this is not a full on catastrophe and a solid 6-7/10, why bother paying this much for an inferior product when you can easily play the original SH2 right now for cheaper? For this price, the game better be damn good or at least come with a whole lot of extras. The original release of SH2 for purists should be a bare minimum and would net a few extra sales, but then again it would also highlight how inferior the demake is even more.

It should be obvious, massive changes to choreography and pointless special effects, changing the tone of the fight and really shitty CGI face transplanting. It's gay reddit slop.

Thank you.

And would you have anything to say to the gay redditor who compliments the slop, presumes to endorse it as something "everybody" would enjoy, or may otherwise feel the need to disagree with your own impressions?

I'm playing through the Silent Hill 2 pc port with the Enhanced mod. It runs good. BTW I like the manual's coverart.

I've been a fan of SH for maybe 10 years? I did not get into the franchise with the first games, sadly I started with Homecoming and then emulated the first 4 games on pc. To me everything was dead with the last shitty games and the cancellation of Silent Hills so the fact this remake came out and it's having a good reception with 20k players on steam feels nice, my expectations were pretty low. I've only played up to the apartments, I can say I like what I've seen so far but I haven't gotten myself spoiled with the cutscene and music changes. If there is something I appreciate is the graphical upgrade, I know people here are hating on everything but I'll join in by saying the original at times just didn't feel scary to me compared to sh3 or sh4 where the way environments looked actually improved, sh2 was the most clever and all of the big story and horror beats are memorable but the camera wasn't immersive and the animations felt pretty cheap. Walking through the town in the remake compared to the original is a very big leap.
