I simply cannot forgive whoever designed the originally abstract-ish, flesh lips and final boss Mary/Maria to have fucking phases in which their metal boxes go to the ground and move as if it is part of the monster now. This literally contradicts the artistic inspiration the monster designs originally had with that artist who painted cages over his works. It was way creepier in the originals because they were the only enemies to float or have this unnatural movement about them, you wondered how the flesh lip could even move on the ceiling if they only had one arm to hold them, and possibly assume that because the final boss FLOATS she must be the most powerful manifestation... and now because a quack at Bloober decided to go RE mode, they figured "ohhh these bars opening up and walking like a HOMECOMING boss spider at their last phases will make it more epic!!" Instead of focusing on why those bossfights were uncomfortable and kinda tight to begin with. Same happened to Abstract Daddy. Padded slop for the lowest common denominator.
It was Ito, the artist. Who as far as I can tell became a sell out faggot that became drunk on his own E level celebrity and wants to dictate what this and that means in the game. You didn't write it, gook.

Nigger, the game is designed from the ground up to be a player experience, not the made for the creators. It's lathered in interpretation and subtly. Just because you designed Pyramid Head, doesn't mean I can't call you a retarded faggot that needs to delete your Twitter.

There's nothing more insufferable to me in this medium when anyone involved in the development of a title wants to talk down to fans on how they should feel about it.

This is pretty neat, imperfect but well-done. Would have been cooler to animate the masses of mannequins instead of nurses. I'd edit it to include the E3 solo. The designs (especially Eddie) are more faithful to the original than the remake is.

Over a month later and I just can't be bothered to finish the shitty remake even for free. I was about to enter the hospital but apparently it's a massive slog like most of the game.

The normal hospital itself is fine for the most part, but both it and the otherworld hospital could have done a bit of trimming. And then from that point on, it's just a downhill slog; the run from the hospital to the historical society, the prison, and the labyrinth overstay their welcome.

The prison would turn you away anyway, it falls far from the original level design and becomes an entirely different game instead more like Homecoming otherworld tier slog.

What I don't understand is why they'd cut this and not other instances of him also talking to himself.

The game is way too fucking long. Any streamer I watched was hours inside the fucking hospital. It's still within the framework of the original so it just reeks of unnecessary padding.

I know I've talked about it as nauseum but look at REmake. Nothing is essentially cut, much is added to it but it's more presentation than level design and gameplay. And in general it's only slightly longer than the original. Not ten fucking hours of excess fat.

Indeed. The original RE just needed a graphical facelift but they elevated other parts just enough to really make something amazing. If only mikami hadn't been retarded and avoided porting REmake and RE0 to ps2, they wouldn't have been commercial flops. Director's Cut and Dino Crisis just saw a large uptick in players on PSN since their release from the subscription limit, so there's clearly still a market for these types of games. The original SH1 at the very least should get a re-release for ps4-5.

While it's unlikely, it's possible it was also cut due to space limitations. You only had 700 megs to work with on a PS1 disc and audio can eat up a fair amount of that. The original RE2 is only on 2 discs because the audio quality was insanely high and took up a ton of space.

I don't think they would've done RE4 numbers, but it definitely would have warranted more remakes.
 
Wasn't there some licensing agreement about exclusive games with Nintendo at the time?
That happened because there was an attempted pitch to microsoft to sell mikami's games on xbox but that fell through(I don't blame mikami for that). He hated the ps2 and considered nintendo a toy company but went with them anyway. After REmake and 0 flopped, he attempted the Capcom 5 which also was mostly a disaster save for RE4 because it got a PS2 port. Mikami just never seemed to grasp that third party devs need to sell their shit as widely as possibly or at the very least release it on the console everyone actually owns. Of course he then went on to make Godhand for ps2 which flopped because game journalists are retarded and casuals hate games that require an ounce of skill.

For whatever reason, konami had no issue selling Silent Hill games on both xbox and ps2 during that generation.

SH1 is very underappreciated and I'm tired of hearing fans tourists gargle SH2's balls all the time (it's still a great game though).

Already done and agreed. Hmmm. Alright. I guess I'll start since I'm the Silent Hill autist. I think there may be more mysteries to the town itself than we think since the games were created with the town being mysterious in mind. I think we basically cleared all of them up but I get the feeling in a game like SH4 we may be missing a few pieces about Ashfield Heights. I would love to have a developer commentary or documentary about Team Silent's games so they can fill us in 20+ years later like Valve did. Sadly won't happen. Other than that I believe we are hitting a ceiling in things to discuss seeing as this franchise has been talked about and analyzed up the wazoo. I'm not creative enough and sadly there isn't much going on in the way of fan projects or mods aside from the extremely retarded third person camera mods. Rodolfo Nunez is a great silent hill youtuber who datamines and stuff, Drackfreeee is like the only decent Silent Hill music maker. But the others are all pretty much cucks and whales and fags like Nubzombie with some high quality vids. Dry content, maybe a kiwi can someday make a worthy original video about it. I wish they released more information about Townfall but as far as we know its never happening until its out.
It's just natural to run out of things in a series other than the fond memories and trivia. It has been a pleasure sperging about this beloved series with you guys.

SH1 at least deserves a release on PS4-5 like RE Director's Cut did recently and SH2-3 at least deserve updated PC ports like RE1-3 got on GOG this year. 4 is still underrated to me and I find it hilarious it's the only one to emerge unscathed from Konami's stupidity and lives on with a GOG port.

I didn't even know DC got ported since I'm emulating it on my phone rn. Yesh SH4 was ported to GOG but the others were neglected for some reason. The GOG port of SH4 is pretty bad without fixes however. Konami's stupidity is there.

Between finding a white James jacket in an unused SH4 apartment hall and this I am hoping autists uncover more cool cut content from the games soon. I like the aesthetics and SH4 meat grinder but now its repurposed to be a tool against the boss.

Final gigantic uncovery/restoration for 4 I'll share, same slav who found the James Jacket found a way to make all the low resolution cutscenes in 100% quality, something Rodolfo was trying to figure out it seems. Hopefully more tech savvy autists latch onto 1-4 if the series gets more popular so we can have better mods and discoveries.

The problem is GOG does little more than preservation. Any flaws inherit to the original PC port will still be present in their re-releases since the IP owners don't give a shit as long as they collect their license fee. This is also the case with the RE1-3 on GOG and the terrible audio quality among other things. Thankfully, the rebirth patches pretty much fix everything for those games.

Cool find there. I think the monocle man is saying, "Did you enjoy the ride, Murphy?" At the beginning there since that's the line that made it into the final version of the game. Not the worst boss fight, but that visual effect whenever he slams the ground is really annoying.
