Six Days in Fallujah - A military shooter about a real battle in the Iraq War, back from the dead and more controversial than ever

Yeah, I'm not too excited about that price tag for Early Access and it just having the procgen co op stuff. They DID say the campaign will drop during EA so maybe I'll just wait for that.

So I may have (almost) called it, Six Days in Fallujah releases into Early Access on June 22nd, 2023.
Steam Page with release date
Release Date Announcement Trailer

I am slightly confused if, on launch, it will have single player or if it will have only Co-op, they did show some of the campaign the the trailer so I'd hope they would release the campaign on release.
EDIT: Game is launching CO-OP ONLY, no single player missions on launch. which is a shame, also launching with a price of 39.99 for 4 Co-op Maps. Seems pretty shitty in my opinion, still excited, but not picking up on launch.
Great. Another incomplete game that's asking for full price at launch with no offline option.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, it said no single player, coop only at launch.
You are correct, now you might be able to play Co-op alone, but i imagine it will be hell until they add the Teammate AI.

Quick notes for anyone who is just reading this and doesn't want to go check for themselves.
-Game launches at 40 bucks and will raise price later on in EA
-No campaign or Squad AI on launch, purely Co-op. Squad AI and SOME of the Campaign will be added throughout the EA.
-4 Maps*
-USMC is the first playable forces in game, with Iraqis (Allied Iraqis, not insurgent forces), US Army (Maybe), and Special Forces planned.
-Campaign will follow Soldiers and a Iraqi Father who stories are based off interviews with people actually in Fallujah.
-A roadmap is planned but likely won't be posted until launch.
*These "Maps" are entire blocks afaik, and are randomly generated every match, so I doubt they will get too boring.

I get the feeling they are wanting to release for a extra boost in funding, since it seems like the idea has grown since the initial announcement, with the Campaign now including levels where you play as a Iraqi citizen having to flee with your family from Fallujah, which to me seems like a attempt to stop the "Game about killing Muslims" comments and articles.

I am hopeful with this game since it seems they aren't giving in to any possible outside pressure to game-ify 6 days, with no PVP planned and no way to play as the insurgents, it seems they are hard in with the idea of being Coalition forces fighting through the city. I do wonder how they plan on handling the different forces, since they have confirmed USMC , Iraqi forces, maybe the US Army, and Special Forces (likely a separate game mode however.). Will players get to pick what Army/Branch they are fighting as or is it a Map by Map thing.

I am hopeful for the game, even though last time i was hopeful for a Early Access game, it was Arma Reforger.

Feels like what Insurgency Sandstorms campaign was going to be like before they scrapped it completely.

Indeed a hell yet borderline impossible challenge. Just try solo Sinjar coop in Insurgency. The sandnigger AIs will rain you with well thrown grenades and RPGs coming from hills.

At least in this case you have the stat boosting item "Crayola 60 pack" to even the odds.
Given the close quarters i imagine it wouldn't be too hard in house to house combat, but open fights would be almost impossible.

I'm split. I don't think it should be releasing early access without teammate AI at the least, but I also really want this game to be good and succeed so if the little boost in funding is what they need I hope it works out.

I remember a Playstation game advertised on television called "Desert Storm: Back 2 Baghdad" with Saddamm in crosshairs, wondering if this was gonna piss people off training them in 'killology'.

When I was in, they had Marine Doom specifically modded for training Marines in house clearing. This was sanctioned by the Commandant and JCS.

At Fort Benning they had a room with booths, each booth had its own screen and your controller was an M4. I guess it was kind of a simulator of some sort. The DI could sit on the other side of the room with omnipresent god mode. He could plant insurgents randomly around the battlefield, IED's, whatever he wanted. i wonder whatever came of that... It was cool but pretty useless to acclimate you to real world combat.

YouTubers received exclusive access of an early build of the game three days ago, but were only able to play one mission. What do you guys think of the footage? I'm kinda hopeful looking at the gameplay.

I like the almost forced slow pace you have to take in the game, i have plenty of questions like "Does the M203 work?" or "Whats the purpose of the Armored vehicles, can they give fire support or are they a glorified bombcart from TF2?", but as of now i am hopeful. Not buying it on launch though, i don't have people to play it with and i'm sure any sort of public matches will be hell.

Actually agree with Karmakut here. It looks great, but its success definitely rests on the devs adding more content and listening to feedback.

Clearing big objectives as a 4-man fireteam is also something that bugs me. It's a weird issue because you might not be able to fill out a proper 8-9 man squad with just friends like you theoretically could a fireteam, but clearing a block with only 4 guys can be a bit much.

Hopefully once they get Squad AI in you can have a 8 to 9 person squad that way, seems like their plans for AI are pretty complex and interesting, if vague.

I really don't expect AI to be better than Ground Branch or Ready or Not or Insurgency.
