Not really sharing with the intent to call it bad but I'm curious about the thread's thoughts on this artist.


His main character could easily be considered obese, but she is drawn in a very appealing way. I find this particularly interesting because despite it being the kind of anime coomerish art that wokies hate, he has a lot of followers from that same crowd praising like "she looks exactly like me!!!111" (X to doubt). He has attracted an infestation of them, so I feel like it's only a matter of time before this audience turns on him for not fitting into their perfect whale worshipping standards. Someone already got mad at him for asking how to draw boobs as a man, lmao.

Sorry for hopping on and being new, I just wanted to add that I think one of the artists she's been ripping off referencing is @Meisharan on twitter, especially with that fat dog girl OC with the headphones.

Personally not the type to like anime or find fat ladies attractive but this guy's art is objectively appealing to look at. He's got a good sense of form and color and you can tell by his strokes and shading that he actually does study art more professionally which isn't surprising with jap artists.
The thing I found about these "super wholesome" SJW artists is that they spend more time trying to convince you their art is beautiful and policing others how to do art/design characters rather than actually developing their art skills themselves.
This is also why I hate so much of these SJW works because they don't necessarily want to just make an unconventional character — it's like they're TRYING so hard to be unappealing and annoying on purpose just to send a fuck you to the cishets or something and then they wonder why nobody can stand them.

Exactly. You try to do a nice thing, or in his case welcome others that appreciate your work, and you don't realize that they feel entitled to it. It's not enough to observe or appreciate, it is for THEM and THEIR sensibilities. They need you to assimilate and have the exact same tastes, political opinions etc.

I’m gonna spreg again but it’s quite interesting how some of these artists are all about “supporting artists” but will police you on what you draw and make a callout post about how you drawing an oc a bit too thin is fatphobic and you need to apologize to them.

I remember seeing someone “fix” some characters from a manga and ppl were trashing on them for doing so (which makes sense ig) and on retweet i remember from that incident was something along the lines of “You guys will do this to another artists work and then wonder why people turn to ai”.

It’s all about “supporting other artists” till it’s something they wanna be mad about for whatever reason. It’s Like damn no wonder nobody is commissioning you for a drawing in a wannabe Steve universe style when your acting like that.

I follow this guy on Twitter. He never struck me as an SJW, just a guy who liked a girl with some fat on her. He's obviously talented though you're right about him getting some pushback for not making his OC Nanaco gross looking and other stupid things. Fortunately, he continued doing his own thing.

Interestingly enough, the artist isn't actually Japanese. He learned both English and Japanese around a decade ago.

That an artist is drawing their own character however you want?
