Id say that's less of a feature of woke and more of a feature of the unoriginality present in either a) fandom spaces which thrive in a culture of replication and harbor many young people and b) the corporations behind most media today, which care about money first, and that's partly a reason of why it's woke (because it gets the most clicks). It's a self perpetuating status quo.

Art styles themselves are always influenced by someone else. Scott pilgrim parrots anime as well I as cartoons like The Power Puff Girls, and the Power Puff Girls parrot cartoons from UPA. And so on. The skin walking is more so because art series are products first and foremost.

Honestly, both comic and videogame feature drama, though.
Id argue that a lot of the charm of Scott pilgrim for many is how it mixes a very cutesy cartoony style and premise with a story that TRIES to be more mature than its childish presentation (same way Life is Strange functions as a Time travel story and a parodic teenage drama) ; the cast that's in their 20s, the theme of Scott realizing hes a bad person, the cheating and love triangles ... it's not that far of a call from Max having to choose between Chloe and the other guy.
Both Scott and Max are K.O'd in a fight and go into their head and have an enlightening vision that takes them to reality again at the end. Both medias heavily cannibalize from other sources; Easter eggs aside, Ramona is almost a 1:1 copy of Clementine from Eternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind (down to the focus on dreams...) and Rachel is a 1:1 copy of Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks, for example. I could go on and on.
They fall into the conventions of 2010s indie super clearly. Down to Scott's PlumTree tshirt lol. On that note, there's a big emphasis on fashion and characters change outfits in each chapter/volume.

I don't think either medias are deep, but they both sure as shit tried to. How much they succeeded or failed is another matter lol
