Honestly couldn't give that much of a shit about Harry Potter characters being portrayed black, blue, red, yellow etc in itself honestly.

The bigger issue to me is the forcing of US Demographics into European contexts. The fact is, European countries are not multicultural in the same way Australia, Canada, The US, NZ are and Europeans have a much longer and ancient cultural and historical context to base their identity around. Shit like the "Witcher 3 is racist" controversy really shows how out of touch Idpol Americans are with European sensitives, history and culture. The idea that Polish, an extremely historically subjugated people and even till this day have A LOT of racism thrown towards them by other Europeans can't explore their own culture and history without throwing in Demographics that don't even pretty much exist in their own country is fucking absurd.

Don't even get me started on how much Medieval POC has brainwashed the BBC with extremely bad history. The fun thing is, it's actually racist and extremely Eurocentric. The reason being is that they are actually saying "Only European history matters and thus we need to make Europe more multicultural to show PoC matter" instead of showing the great stories, cultures and civilisations of the PoC societies themselves. Assassins Creed Origins is fantastic, Apocalypto is fantastic, the Dead Lands is fantastic. Those are the sort of depictions those idiots should be praising and trying to make more of than "Duuur Sudanese were actually a major part of Medieval Scandinavia" or some crap.

From what I remember, the shitstorm happened because a lot of fic writers liked to use Blaise as a canon self insert to pair themselves with their favorite canon characters without being accused of oc/canon shipping.

I’m working on this lighthearted comedy about minimalist midgets with different colours (red, blue, pink, etc) and most people I tell it to are incapable of seeing it as anything other than a metaphor for racial segregation when it’s speculative at best. Somebody suggested I change up the whole concept so it has a ‘better message’ and frankly I think it’s their own problem if that’s the only way they can look at it. I’m stubborn, maybe. :autism:

Everything just has to be about identity politics these days and it makes me sad. Everyone’s going to look for offensive things in anything they can like they’re trying to find dirt in a plate cleaned with those Kills 99% of bacteria! soaps you see on TV. I agree so much. It is sad how european history is blackwashed in nowadays TV series (most of them BBC produced) because it would be racist not to do so, and they're not even trying to keep things slightly historical or culturally correct; have you seen "Troy: Fall of a City"? Why did they think it was a good idea to make Achilles, the blonde Achilles, a subsaharian guy? If they actually had spent more than two minutes thinking about where to put some black actors, they would have figured out that there's the Ethiopian king, Memnon (even if Aethiopia back then had a different location), who is actually a cool character, but still, they decided to keep sucking MedievalPoc's dick, and let's not even mention the whole "Black Romans in Britain" and "Black People in Medieval Europe" matters.

Which is the best thing imo, who isn't tired of the Cinderella story? There's plenty of African and pre-columbian mythos to take inspiration from. I've only seen it done in french animation, and I guess the Black Panther movie goes on that direction. It feels kind of well, racist to act like there's no culture outside of the european ones.
