Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

:offtopic:Admittedly I don’t know who or what these people are from,:offtopic: but I feel as though it doesn’t belong here - IMO it just looks like a genderbent version of that one girl. It lacks the obnoxious pride flags, skin diseases, lesbian haircuts and fatness to make it qualify as an SJW piece.

I'm not sure what fandoms sparked the trend, but it feels like recent sjw art styles are gravitating towards the edginess of 00s da again?

I actually like these! Had it not been for the sickly skin colours of toy animatronics i would have liked it more (i can excuse them on others because they're supposed to be old and disgusting lol).

Also, of course it's edgy, it's horror game fanart, after all.

That doesn't even look like 00s DeviantArt - at least they tried to accomplish something, in other words immaculately plagarize the styles of the popular anime of their day. Tumblr has everything horrible about early DeviantArt culture made worse.

I don't understand caring too much about the race of fictional characters. What matters about characters should be their character not what skin color they have.
I get what you're saying here, but I also know that when it comes to children's media, representation DOES kind of matter in a way. Kids get excited when they see a character that looks like them or has the same name as them in a book, movie or cartoon. That's just how kids are. Granted, established characters should not be changed because that's stupid, but I think it's nice to see more "diverse" characters in children's media because kids are shallow in a way and they don't connect to characters the same way that adults and teens do. Children closely relate to characters that look like them or act like them because they lack the comprehension to dissect characters deeper meanings in order to relate to them. However, with this trend of sjw art, most of these people ARE teens and adults who don't really care about the children that their media caters to, they just want more forced diversity to suit their needs and opinions. Adults don't need representation, they should be able to properly relate to a character without having their race or gender or sexuality changed to suit their needs.

I never thought about it that way. That's an important perspective--thank you for bringing it up!

You're welcome I'm glad you get where I'm coming from. It just bothered me that no one thought about a child's perspective when it comes to diversity.

Now there's another thing, some people recognize that diversity is important to young viewers; but it's the wrong kind of diversity. What I mean is making sexuality into plot points for kids media. Not only do kids have a limited view of sexuality, it bores them. Kids can't relate to a characters sexuality gay or straight, they don't understand it. I'm tired of people shoehorning this into things made for kids.

If there ever was ONE thing I noticed with tumblr artwork, is that everyone appears to look smelly and unwashed. I have no idea how they do it, but they make it possible.
It’s the coloring. If they aren’t using desaturate colors and black to shade, they’re using those sponge/watercolor brushes on places it shouldn’t be used on that make the shadows look like patches sitting on top the color.

There's already three or four characters of color in Awakening. Flavia, Bastio, Vaike, and Aversa. You could argue Panne and her kid, but they'd be the lightest.
