Unless he joins one of the weird little Catholic splinter sects, the priesthood would not be an option for him (even if he wanted to go that route, which I doubt he ever has). Even with a shortage of men willing to enter the priesthood, the Catholic Church has, unlike Skylar, actually learned from its past sins, and has made sincere efforts to atone for them and ensure they don't happen again. To be fair, that's looking like the only job he'll ever have at this point.
But let's play pretend, and look at the viability of Skylar's choosing to enter the priesthood.
First, he'd need a Bachelor's degree. A BA in CS, left uncompleted after being expelled from a Catholic college, isn't going to cut it.
But if he had a BA, his next step would be seminary--where he might actually excel at the book-learning parts of it, and rote memorization, and learning the rituals, because autism.
But to actually become a priest, he'd have to go through extensive counseling to ensure that he really does have a calling, during which his psychological fitness for the role of priest would come under scrutiny, and that's where he'd hit the wall.
Too bad he's Catholic; he'd fit right in among certain strains of Fundamental Evangelical Protestantism, where pastors with his degree of arrogance, hubris, and lack of empathy are as plentiful as fleas on a stray dog.
