I am genuinely shocked that nobody here has mentioned the trifecta of autism that is a few splinters of the Pokémon community. Namely:
Hardcore Nuzlockers- from what I can tell most of the people who are serious about this are mostly kids who watch Pokémon Challenges and genuinely believe that he's "the best Nuzlocker in the world", but these fuckers are even more autistic than Smogon or shiny hunters could ever hope to be (especially the adults that still do this on Reddit). They miss the entire point of both the core series ("Pokémon are friends not tools, use your favorites") and doing a Nuzlocke (getting attached to Pokémon you usually don't use) in favor of shitty tier lists (regarding the usability of any given Pokémon in a game), trying to "play around" crits and complaining when it's not possible, along with predicting how AI works instead of actually playing the damn game.
This can also extend to the people who make insane variants of Nuzlockes that have like 20 rules minimum and have insane names like "2v2 Randomized Cagelocke" or "Generational Eliminilocke" as well as, of course, the Youtubers who shit this stuff out on a twice-daily basis to appease a fanbase entirely comprised of 13 year-old children who would be telling people to "get good, scrub" on COD if they existed ten or fifteen years ago instead of now.
PMD fans- on a slightly unrelated note, there's the PMD fanbase. Filled to the brim with genderspecial teenagers who won't stop screeching for a new game or making new sparkledog OCs out of exclusively Riolu and/or Eevee. Honestly, though, that's nothing special. The real autism lies in the IMMENSE amount of fetish shit regarding this series. It probably isn't a surprise- having being isekai'd into a new world and transformed into a Pokémon as a base premise was always going to attract mega-autists- but it really is fucking everywhere. I guarantee you that if you look into any PMD fan (ESPECIALLY more well-known ones) enough they will have a long history of fetish art to their name. Vore, transformation, feet- I can go on, but I won't since i'm assuming most of you know about PK. Just assume that the vast majority of the fanbase is like her with less actual dog fucking and more dreaming about it. I'm also not linking any of the porn for obvious reasons.
Now, why did I mention two unrelated parts of the Pokémon community instead of three like I implied I would? Well, there's one common trait that brings these two horrible corners of the community together.
They are both prolific webcomic-makers.
If that sentence doesn't strike fear into you, I don't know what will.
Both Nuzlockers and PMD fans have a long, LONG history of creating webcomic after webcomic after webcomic. The quality of these webcomics can sometimes be questionable- that, or their authors have questionable (NSFW) interests, but one thing's for certain.
Almost none of these people know how to draw, and even fewer know how to write.
This is because they are mostly kids.
Now take a moment to read through that with the context applied.
They're mostly kids.
In a community full of people like this.
Lol. Lmao, even.
I don't know if I need to elaborate. I kind of don't want to, it's really gross to think about. The main reason I'm even bringing this up is because it directly affected me when I was younger, and that's before the true extent of these people's depravity was well-known. Just know that Haychel, PurpleKecleon, and the deviants I linked above are really not a loud minority- they make up a MAJORITY of this fandom from what I can see and it's really fucked up imo.
On a lighter note, most of these comics are insanely pozzed. Like, insanely pozzed. As in "85% of my cast is male and that's boring" pozzed.
It'd be funny if it wasn't kind of sad and gross.
Anyways, I don't think anyone in these communities is explicitly lolcow worthy (save for PK) because all three of them are enormous circlejerks. Serious echo chambers, both in regards to politics and being okay with blatant fetish shit in comics aimed at kids (look at the comments). The Nuzlocke Forums even had a Black Lives Matter banner on the front page of their site for well over a year after the initial summer 2020 protests, lol.
I'm sure you'll be able to find some lolcows if you look hard enough, though. Or even just prod one or two people a bit, in the right way.
also, a quick honorary mention: DeviantArt has plenty more comics and PMD art if you want to go even further down this rabbit hole. The groups feature especially is full of PMD-E successors and/or wannabees, alongside Nuzlocke comic groups that centralize a lot of the community. Just search up "Nuzlocke" or "PMD" there and you'll have a whale of a time. I've also found the vast majority of these comics on Comicfury, an equally-pozzed webcomic congregator that ended up being swarmed with these people after Smackjeeves went under. If you want to actually be able to read a lot of these comics (not all of them though), go there.
