I have not watched SMG4 in years (and probably for the best since YouTube has completely neutered edgy content like his to prosper and be monetized), so I don't have that much of a personal reaction towards the redesigns.

But if they were so adament on redesigning G4 and G3 (idk who the green blob or hooded knife guy are nor do I care), why couldn't they just make a 3d model of his pfp here and apply it to both of them?

Like maybe it wouldn't be as pleasing to look at than if it was 2d, but I'd be sure a helluva lot better than their Mii-reject-lookin-ass models.

The green blob and hooded guy used to be a pair of Spike and Garo enemies from Mario and Zelda respectively named "Fishy Boopkins" and "Bob"

But they were redesigned so Nintendo wouldn't be pissed off that characters they created were being used for Merchandising purposes.

I'd also like to mention that a lot of the new OC characters they've been introducing recently look really off... like they were created for an entirely different project, but were thrown into SMG4 at the last minute.

That last one is a 3D version of the old man Pokemon sprite that used to be (and I’d assume still is) a recurring character. The rest look out of place though, except maybe the mushroom guy.

I've been watching him for years, and he's definitely come a long way from lazy WMM&Project 64 videos.
However, his fanbase...you have the majority of cringy 9-year olds, people who jack off to the female trio, the constant war between fans of old and modern SMG4, and on the top of that, Starman3, a fellow SM64 machinimist, who made a lot of appearances in SMG4's old videos,has actually been accused of pedophilia by multiple people.

I'm actually kind of surprised there isn't a thread of Starman3 on here, considering the shit he's been accused of.

Allgegedly Starman was one of the main reasons why SMG4 kind of stopped inserting his friends at the time/fellow SM64 machinimas into his videos, as Starman always forced to add him in his videos and make his Mario-self a Mary Sue, according to FM and former Youtube Rangers (a group Starman made).

I believe it was around 2017-2018, first with simply renamed Nintendo characters (Bob, Fishy, Meggy), but then he went full DeviantArt OC churn-out mode starting with probably Tari and that stupid axolotl with the huge plot armor pen, I think he was called Axol or something unimpressive like that. Last OC I remember is Melony, who I remember was a running joke at first but then SMG4 was horny or something and made the watermelon into an actual girl OC. There could be more that I can't remember.

His production company acquired a tugboat from the Government Down Under, that has probably increased his need for greed, and so that's probably why he started putting crappy sponsors in his videos.

Before Meggy came along there were only two recurring girl characters - Peach and Toadette - neither of which were meant to be flattering depictions of their canon counterparts.

When Meggy was introduced she was simply a typical inkling and being a young, cutesy-looking character that didn't have a blocky, somewhat unattractive n64 model. Of course she stood out a whole lot more than the other members of the cast, which in turn attracted younger kids and retards who clearly had crushes on her.
