Very meh episode. I'd say the 2nd worse of season 2 so far only surpassed by the president episode. I gotta say it bros, gotta be honest despite how much I like Zach... I think Smiling Friends is overrated.
 
I think people expect too much from Smiling Friends to be the best show ever everytime

Do people not remember that ATHF and South Park and American Dad have duds of episodes every week or two
 
I can't believe they got the real Rich Evans(the guy that was on Ellen and Never Been Kissed) to voice act.

Gwimbly, the President, Spooney, and anyone else? I feel like season one did a good job of making it trying to get to the client, trying to get the client to smile, trying to survive a competitor, or making doing a job out of personal reasons.

Mr. Frog and Gwimbly are the same premise, but with Pim being the one doing it out of nostalgia rather than Charlie with the B plot being Charlie trying to make James smile.

Frowning Friends and the Boss’s wife were the same premise of saving the business.

Enchanted Forest and President followed a similar “the actual job not mattering”.

Shrimp and Spooney was basically the same with a different conflict.

Alan is the only one that involved no one smiling and is a shit episode for that reason.

This is just the formula I’ve noticed.

IIRC, that’s always been the plan. Smiling Friends wasn’t supposed to be “every episode make someone smile”, it’s a jumping off point.

Yeah its fine to break away from the formula just as long as the show keeps being a comedy.
 
I enjoyed it, Charlie’s animation as he was snapping at the aliens and arguing with them was really funny to me. Like even with how simple his face’s design is, you could tell he was absolutely furious.
 
I like the bizarre subtle detail that Charlie is a catholic. it's such a funny gag. for example:
- his cross in mr frog
- "i wouldnt break the second commandment dude" in salty's
- "go into the light mip"
- him praying in this ep
 
This was a really fun episode, the alien party was pretty funny.

Also no matter the voice filter, Rich Evans' laugh is too damn easy to distinguish
